Boyfriend Jeans

So, here we are easing (seriously, slowly easing) into spring and my winter capsule wardrobe update is just as slowly winding down. Slowly, because I'll still be wearing most of these pieces for a while. Not only due to cool temps up here, but also due to the versatility of these pieces. I had no idea how this would go since...

Spring, are you there? We had a couple weeks of glorious weather and, as it usually goes here, we have been plunged back into chilly, rainy Winter weather. Such. a. tease. Ah well, we will soon be back to deliciously sweet Spring temps and can live out our days in perfect contentment. For now, I'll just look at these pictures...
I've been experimenting with all kinds of newness lately:  high-rise jeans are the norm, white ankle boots are shaking things up, and I find myself wanting to don a 70's-inspired midi dress.  More on that one later. But then, Sunday hits, and I find myself reaching for my trusty standby:  boyfriend jeans. But I've been down this road so many times...

Hey y'all. I have no witty thoughts right now. I just have some summatime daily outfits to share. I started to write about the weather in Portland, but just like my snarky weather app said the other day, it's "boring outside."  Apparently 'boring' on this weather app means in the 70's which is ok with me, seeing as it...
One could argue the jeans.  It was hot, it was humid, and I may have been better served in denim of the shorter variety.  But there were a few forces working against my usual denim underwear, namely, ONE - we were going to be inside watching the kids' hip-hop concert, so, hello, air-conditioning....and TWO - Pax and I had...
Light denim is everywhere this spring.  I love the look, but I'll admit it's much harder to wear than dark denim.  So I went on a quest to find the perfect jeans for spring.  I ordered different brands in multiple sizes, tried them all on and took some pics.  I was actually surprised by which ones were my favorites.  Here's...
I wore this outfit to school pick-up the other day.  Before the East Coast was hit with the big storm, obviously.  Actually, it may have been the exact day-before-the-storm but #nobodycares #movingon. ANYWAY. My friend Linzi came sauntering up, eyes sparkling.  "Shana....?" she started in a sing-song voice, "are you wearing comfort shoes????" Um.  Maybe?  #that'sAYes So here's the thing:  I've been meaning...
Who goes plant shopping on their birthday? This girl. I'm serious about plants, lately. See face above. But, seriously, I've been wanting to check out the gorgeous Solabee Flowers for a while so for my birthday it was. And seeing as I just turned...gasp...39, I'm pretty sure I can do whatever the heck I want on my birthday. Well, as long...
We were delighted to get the following note from reader Danielle: This one is for Jess...my beloved Itat cardigan was at it again today for a trip to see the Nutcracker with all 3 of my girls. When the baby was ready for a snack, I slipped her right under and no one was the wiser. SO much more subtle...

The week after Christmas is rough. WINTER SLUMP, ANYONE? *lays head down on desk and silently sheds a tear* I had so much energy and creativity flowing before the holidays and now...nope. So I was packing for our trip to MD a couple of weeks ago and I literally just started throwing shit into the suitcase, because I realized a) I...
