You’re a mom now. Let’s face it, much as you may love your stilettos (or maybe just the idea of them), unless you’re going to be a sitting-on-the-sidelines, too-cool-for-school mom, you need some sensible shoes from time to time, and that includes toasty winter boots with good traction. Well sister, you’re in luck, because sensible doesn’t necessarily mean sickly anymore. We’ve found a bevy of cute and toasty winter boots, all waterproof, that fit the bill.
Yes, I know.  I trashed 2009's Fall trends pretty good in my post, The Uninspired, The Unflattering, The Trends of Fall 2009.  But the truth is, while the runway does influence trends, it certainly doesn't dictate them.  At the end of the day, stores stock clothes, shoes and accessories that people want to buy.  Which is why, YEARS after...
Honestly, I don't know WHAT had gotten into Glamour lately, but I love it.  LOVE it.  Pictured at right is Glamour magazine's November cover, featuring all plus size models.  And they look beautiful. Why all the focus on plus-size models?  Glamour ran an article this summer, featuring a beautiful women with a (gasp) poochy stomach.   She's Lizzie Miller,...
Unless you’re Heidi Klum, in most cases, a postpartum body is a colossal disappointment. After nine long months of carrying the apple of your eye, you’re left with hips that have spread, back fat, muffin top, and usually a saggy pooch where your once-taunt belly used to be. It’s sooo unfair. With this kind of blow to your self image, the last thing you need is to be walking around in ill-fitting, unflattering garments to boot. Here are 10 budget-friendly options that can be dressed up for the office or down for play dates and will be kind to the après baby bod.
Cheapchica.com, a fantastic blog that focuses on budget-friendly fashion, has a great post that is also mom-friendly.  Cheapchica reminds us that a "dressy cardigan" is a great, on-trend look for fall. She's right!  And...a dressy cardigan is an easy update to the usual mom uniform.  Just throw it on over your jeans and a tank...and voila!  Instant chic.  See all...
This pic cracks me up.  Of course I would be sporting heels and fishnet tights despite the fact that I had to help carry my huge belly around with my arm.  Of course.  Heels and fishnets make perfect sense when one can only waddle around one-armed.  My one-armed waddling began at only 7 months (additional 7 month pic...
So my final installment of Sweatsuit Alternatives debuted today on Rookie Moms.  I focused on an easy, Audrey Hepburn inspired look for the final sweatsuit alternative.  NOTE:  I love the comments from Rookie Mom readers on this look - they are completely right!  If you are a very busty gal, skip the turtleneck and instead try a black cowl-neck...
I tried a ton of nursing tanks my first go ‘round with the boy wonder, but never found one I really loved. The snaps sucked or the fabric had a weird sheen, they weren’t long enough or the waist had apparently been cut for someone who was still pregnant. Enter the new Gilligan & O’Malley nursing camis. They rock and they’re cheap to boot. They don’t offend on any of the aforementioned points and they’re widely available in the intimates section of Target.
There are few things, fashion-wise, that I like better than a great mix of high-end and budget-friendly items.  Leave it to our September Mom, Becky, to put together such a look.  Beck is one of my dearest friends, and someone who lives by her own set of rules.  Her first rule?  "Happy, Happy, Happy!"  (You need three Happys, she says,...
If you weren't convinced, in last week's guest post on Rookie Moms, to trade in your sweatsuit, Rookie Moms and Ain't No Mom Jeans have again teamed up with another sweatsuit alternative. For those of you chanting, "Die, Sweatsuit, Die!" right along with me, you'll appreciate what Rookie Mom Whitney called my "anti-sweatsuit rant".  Love that.  For the rest of you...
