Gang, meet Rumi, the author of the Fashiontoast blog.  This blog, if you've never followed it, is one of my go-to blogs for inspiration.  It's gorgeous.  Her blog is how I want to dress if I don't have to run around at the playground.  Or bend over and pick up a kiddo.  Or go to work.  Think lots of...
Reader Question: Can you recommend some good, winter slip-on shoes for moms with young babies?I loved your sneakers post, but when I have a baby strapped to me or clinging to one arm and a purse in the other, I just can't bend over to tie my shoes. For the same reasons, my zip up boots are getting more...
Reader Question: Hi!  I bought a couple of fun tops for the holidays, and my question is - can I wear sequins after New Year's? I have a friend's 30th coming up, and wondering if I can still pull it off. Thanks! Answer: I have a tendency to ignore traditional fashion "rules" (I wear white after labor day, mix black, brown and...
Caro, the author of one of my very favorite blogs, It Looks Good To Me, waxes nostalgic on the denim-on-denim trend. Denim on denim can be tricky, but so comfortable and chic when done well.  I especially love a super-soft chambray shirt paired with darker jeans.   In her blog, Caro shows several denim-on-denim pics for inspiration (including this one from...
Confession:  I actually hate shopping sales.  While I love the thrill that comes from finding a bargain, I hate the digging through racks, the frantic pace, the pressure to make a decision NOW!  BEFORE IT'S GONE!  And I hate that, invariably, most of the items I buy on sale I end up donating to charity before the year is out....
I’m a mom of two tiny boys and as such, I spend much of my week in jeans and t-shirts. There’s little else that’s appropriate for playground outings, trips to the zoo and building block towers on the floor, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to try to look good . . . in addition to being somewhat vain, my husband works from home, for goodness sake, so I try to keep greasy hair and pajamas-till-noon days to a minimum in the interest of keeping the luv alive. Enter fancy tees.
The Christmas tree is waiting to be composted, the guest laundry is done, the china is stored until next year and every last bit of New Year confetti is vacuumed up. Time to scour the interweb for the best post-holiday sales! This week we’ll feature our fav sale items from the big retailers.
Reader Question: Hello Shana, Since I found your blog through Baby Bunching last week, I've been obsessed and some of the highlights of my past week have been finding new posts each morning. I've devoured every bit of your blog, love your fashion sense and advice, and desperately need your help! You posted a great article, "Dressing Your Postpartum Pouch on The...
Dads, let’s face it. You're shopping last minute: you need something fast and you need something shiny. . . Worry not. I'm a magpie-like connoisseur of shiny objects and here I submit a few suggestions for you to offer up to your beloved baby mama.
While a backlit digital watch is not my favorite accessory (for those, click here), there are a lot of digital watches out there that can be worn beyond the darkened room of your babe. A good rule of thumb for wearing a digi is to embrace the inherent awkwardness and in fact enhance it by going with something chunky and larger-scale, thereby making it cool. Digis only look truly lame when you're wearing a diminutive ladies' version, which generally have no sense of irony. Check out these cute and styley options in order of price, lowest to highest.
