Maxi Dresses For Nursing Moms
By

Nursing moms need support (for heavy, milk-filled boobs) and easy access (for starving, wailing babes). I haven’t been able to find any on-trend nursing dresses. Ugh. We should invent some. In the meantime, with a little creativity…here are a few options for nursing moms:

Spring / Summer Trends for Mom at the Hopscotch Hustle
By

The first annual Hopscotch Hustle, a hip mom and baby fashion show for the benefit of WeeCycle, was a huge success! Most importantly it raised money and awareness to help Colorado’s in-need families, and…now for the fun part, the fashions were spot-on. We pulled styles from some of Denver’s coolest boutiques with the challenge of creating hip outfits that are comfortable, flattering and easy enough to appeal to moms. A challenge that was met in full force. Here are my favorites from the show:

Mother’s Day Gift Idea: Best of Spring Loungewear
By

All Moms want/need/must have time off, time to themselves. So on Mother’s Day, treat her with a day all to herself. Here’s how it works: Choose the day (it doesn’t need to actually be on Mother’s Day). Wrap up a Mother’s Day gift of cozy-but-fabulous spring loungewear. (NOTE: This is NOT lingerie – the goal is comfy and cool not sex-pot. You want her to feel beautiful and relaxed, not guilty because the last thing she wants to do is throw on that bustier). Throw in a great book or trashy magazine. Then, when the day arrives, make sure the house is picked up, and take the kids OUT OF THE HOUSE. Otherwise, despite your very best efforts they will still find their way over to mom. When you return…voila! A happy, relaxed mom. And we all know that happy mom = happy family.
Here are my favorite comfy-cool Spring loungewear picks:

March 2009 Mom

I’m pretty sure colorful stripes are the universal sign for Spring. Or maybe it’s floral patterns, but stripes are right up there. In any case, Anne looked great and made me want to run right out and find something stripey. For being so Spring-inspired, she is our March Mom!

Date Night & Dressin' Up
NYE In
By

I expected that by now, a year later, we would be pros at this parenting thing. We would’ve had our babysitter booked and would be all set for a night on the town sans kid! Whoo hoo, baby! What an idiot. First of all, no one wants to babysit on NYE, and second of all, my son is still nursing, going through separation anxiety, and is just not baby-sittable. And….to be honest….a night on the town sounds fun, but it’s a little “been there, done that.” So this year we’re getting together with some friends, making fancy food, and drinking and eating our way into the New Year. It’s a bring-the-kiddos-and-stay-in kind of NYE. So now, my big dilemma….what do I wear? I need to be comfortable (and be able to nurse), but it’s NYE darn it!! I need to feel festive! There are two options I’m toying with……

Swackets

It’s a sweater!  No, it’s a jacket!  It’s a…swacket?  Ok, so I made up the term “swacket”.  Just now.  But the term is needed to describe…
