Turns out, not much has changed since last fall when I was fully obsessed with all things chocolate brown (as seen in this post I wrote last November: The Chocolate Brown Trend: 6 Cute Looks). I checked, and yup, I’m still obsessed with chocolate brown…maybe even more so!
And when I say ‘chocolate brown’, I’m talking about that rich, warm, deep shade that feels almost edible. Honestly, the best way I can describe it is by pointing to the color of my dog Gus’ fur – he’s my real-life, everyday chocolate brown inspiration. In fact, every piece I’ve been eyeing has to pass what I call ‘the Gus test’ if it matches his gorgeous coat, I know it’s a keeper. 😉 And there are some really, really good chocolate brown options out there already this fall, and it’s only the beginning of September.

One of the reasons I think chocolate brown feels so perfect for fall is that it embodies everything I love about the season: steaming mugs of cocoa, crunchy leaves, rustic pinecones. It’s cozy, grounded, and best of all, just as versatile and wearable as your classic black and white staples. It also pairs almost magically well with other autumnal shades, think: navy, cream, maroon, forest green or even lavender. Just searching through Nordstrom’s selection of chocolate brown knee high boots had me droooooling.
