How To Nail The Colorful Stripes Trend

Pink and orange is a color combo that would usually be outside of my style comfort zone. I would have never bought this colorful striped pullover if I hadn’t wandered into my local Free People store and laid eyes on it IRL. In fact, online, I passed right over it with barely a second thought.

But in person, I was MESMERIZED: the playful color combo is unique, unexpected and just WORKS. Plus,  bold, colorful stripes are everywhere right now. I was totally inspired..and brought it home.

Like most Free People pullovers — this one is INSANELY comfy and easy to wear. I pair mine with Levi Wedgies, Converse slip-ons and a vintage Moroccan bag. It’s been my go-to outfit all month long.

Pullover – Free People Just My Stripe Pullover, is currently 25% off at Nordstrom and available in all four colors. The quality is GREAT. It’s a nice heavier and thicker knit which will work well into the the Fall. Meant to be oversized, I’m wearing a medium, my usual size in knitwear. However, the sleeves are a bit long and need to be rolled (which I kinda like in this instance). I could have sized down to a small in this case, but I was a little worried about the already cropped hem at the waist. Be sure to check out the three other color options: navy & white, pink & orange, and beige & brown.

Jeans – Levi’s Wedgie Icon Jeans, $98.00 at Shopbop. One of the TME Team’s current favorite pair of jeans. If you’re worried about how straight leg cropped jeans look like I was, these fit like a DREAM!

Sneakers – Converse Shoreline Slip-on Sneakers, $50.00 at Amazon. LOVE this easy-on, easy-off version of my favorite sneaker style of all time. Amazon has over a dozen different colors to choose from. If you’re in- between sizes, or you’re a half size, you can size down in these. I’m usually a 7.5 but I got these in a 7.

Bag – A one-of-a kind vintage leather bag from Etsy, like this one or this one. Also, Free People has a great selection of similar Moroccan-inspired leather bags like this painted tote or their distressed backpack.
