Cool Ankle Booties For Moms

Ankle boots have been hot for a while now, but I've yet to invest.  Why?  The truth is, I just don't go out on the town enough to warrant wearing my existing collection of super-fabulous heels, so purchasing footwear for another one of these nights out just doesn't make sense.  And as much as I LOVE heels, I rarely wear them when I'm running around with the little man.  I just can't climb, jump and run in my 3" stilettos.

I've been looking for a pair of cool ankle boots with a low or nonexistent heel for several seasons now, and I've mostly been disappointed.  Frye's motorcycle boot is a classic choice, but it wasn't really the sexy little ankle boot I wanted.  So….just as I gave up, piperlime.com rocked my ankle-boot world.  Here are my fav picks:

On the left is the Mod Zip Boot by Unplugged, a new brand to piperlime.com.  These boots retail for $69.

Next are the Zorro boots by Vince Camuto, and because they are my favorite, they are also the most expensive of the three, retailing for $169 (it's a special talent of mine).

Lastly, Hive and Honey's Sloan boots would also do the trick.  They retail for $79, exclusively at piperlime.com.

Wear these bad boys with leggings, skinny jeans, or tights.  So super cool.

  1. I think that your choices were great. I tend to favor the Zorro & Sloan boots a little more than the other. However, I feel you on that special talent of liking the more expensive items. I can look at shoes, handbags or whatever and without even looking at the price, I pick the higher priced product. It’s crazy.

  2. Have you checked out the Target “Katherine Engineer Boots?” They look just like the Frey motorcycle boots (okay, maybe they rise a little higher on the calf) – but they are good knock-offs. $49.99 for leather!

  3. I love this post – I agree about the heels I am always on the quest for cute stylish shoes that can fit into my lifestyle and there just ain’t much out there. It there is and unwritten rule that states “mid ir low heels must be frumpy.”
I would love to hear more suggestions on mom-approved footwear. I loved the sneaker suggestions how about some others?

  4. I have a pair of camel slouchy ankle boots that I have worn ALL the time this season. The flat heel keeps me happy and comfy, and they look great with everything from leggings to maxi dresses.
But I love how edgy all these are! Mine are decidedly more boho. Very cool. But if I bring home yet another pair of boots, my husband will lock up the closet! 🙂

  5. Aarika – thank for the comments! And it’s nice to know I’m not the only one always attracted to things I have no hope of affording (I found even better ones for $700, but didn’t even bother).
Ursula — Love your pick! What a steal!
Amy – I’m in the same situation. I splurged on a pair of Frye boots last winter PROMISING my husband that I would love them forever. And I do…but….these ARE a little more rocker….and a different color…
Rachel — Mom-approved footwear – I LOVE this idea! I’ll work on it!
