I mean. I couldn’t help myself. A few of you were chatting about these things in our Facebook Insiders group (or was it IG?) and once I got sucked in, it was really hard to stop. And Free People has ever-so-helpfully created a page with nothing but matching lounge sets.

Cute & Cozy “Research”: Finding A Free People Loungewear Set That’s Just Right

If ever there were a time to drool over these cute-and-cozy sets…it’s now. So in the name of Totally Meaningless But Perfectly Distracting “Research”, here I go.

The Free People Loungewear Set That Was Too Hot

Free People’s Cozy Sunset Set is adorbs…but would be better suited to January. I think I’d overheat in this thing right now. But I LOVE the swingy pants and the dramatic high-low hem of the sweater. The fabric reminds me of a soft, super-stretchy sweatshirt.

Want something similar but less warm? The Mercer set has that same dramatic high-low hem without the big cowl neckline.

The Lounge Set For Warm Weather

Free People’s Golden Hour Beach Set is suuuuuuper lightweight. It’s some sort of cotton/linen/poly blend, and would be perfect for working at home mid-summer (god forbid we’re all still here). That said, it’s a bit sheer. But the super high-rise waist is really comfy, and I love how this set just felt to wear (all drapey and light), and I think I love it…for later.

The details and styling of this set are very Not Loungewear: the buttons, the pockets, the waist. But rest assured that the waist isn’t tight — it’s perfectly soft and stretchy — so it won’t suck you in like some compression garment. But the fabric will look more sheer with white underthings — see the white tag from the pants on my bum? Yeah. So maybe nude undies?

The Free People Culver Set Is Pretty Perfect

Free People’s Culver Set is 100% cotton, and inexplicably involves — and I believe this is the technical term — “hammer pants.”

I do not even care. The set is so comfy (not too hot, not too cold) and oddly cute (even Mike and Pax AND Raines liked it) that I’m totally on board.

It’s Hammertime.

A note on sizing: the waistband of the hammer pants is, I found, a bit tight. So instead of my usual XS in these ginormous sets, I ended up being happier in the S of an even more ginormous set. But whatev — it’s supposed to look oversized.

Here’s the waistband of the XS (left) vs the S (right):

It also comes in a ton of colors. I liked this strangely acid mint green, too. Someone on our FB Insiders group was asking about a cute loungewear set to gift a friend who was a nurse…and I think this might be a good one (well…this or PrintFresh’s printed PJs).

  1. Ugh I want to like them but none of them seem like something I would wear. Can we do this again but pick a different brand?
