How To Wear The Courier Button-Back Top (When All You Want To Do Is Cry-Laugh)

I’ll be honest with you. I am having a hard time sharing anything other than funny memes that make me snort with laughter and/or videos that show people being amazing humans that inevitably fill my eyes with tears, so…style and clothing?

Yeh.

They’re hard to focus on at the moment, especially considering the fact that I’m primarily in yoga attire these days.

I have been looking at this particular top every time I enter my closet…considering it a real contestant for the day. But then I slooowwwwly back away with stretchy lycra in hand (hoping that the shirt won’t notice and be disappointed in my poor decisions).

I’ve always really liked it, though! In fact, I had gotten these pictures taken weeks before…ya know. OUR ENTIRE WORLD CHANGED. I felt carefree and easy and thought of all the cool little things I’d say about why you need this top for all of your casual spring adventures…

HA HA HAAAAA!!!

Sorry, bit aggressive there. Basically, the joke was on me. Little did I know that not many of us would be leaving the house for months, nor would any of our children (*menacing music begins to play*).

The Madewell Spring Top Perfect For All Your Video Calls (sigh)

I am aware that, like most things that are a positive for our mental health, sometimes you just have to do the thing. Usually the thing is something you really don’t want to do, too. In this instance it is getting into something that makes me feel less…hm…Coronavirus-y?

We could all use some inspiration right now, me thinks. So in the spirit of Why The F Not?…here is how I had wanted to wear this popover top pre-COVID…and how I still theoretically could wear it around the house for our Zoom meetings, FaceTime book clubs, etc., Maybe I’ll even put on heels for a while because again: why the F not?.

We wanted to wear this Madewell top for spring, but now we'll don it for Zoom video calls, virtual meetings, online book clubs...Maybe we'll even add heels...why the F not?.

  1. So the styling advice is “wear it with jeans the end”? I mean, you look great, but that’s some pretty thin content. What would this shirt look like over a fitted tank dress? How can you play with the button back? Is the fit much different with the buttons open vs. closed? Can you put a cardigan on top? What if I wanted to dress up the top a bit?

  2. I have to agree. The “how to” looks just like the styling on Madewell’s site, so I am not sure why this is a post.
