OK, so we all saw my first post of #dressingroomselfies from last week where I had the pair of gray skinny jeans as my lone ranger pair. Oh, gray jeans, you really pulled your weight! I’m excited to announce that I now have another phenomenal pair that are so cool and so flattering and — besides the name —  I adore them.

Topshop Dad Jeans: High-Waist, Straight Leg Denim That Goes With All My Fav Fall Pieces

Yes, they are the Topshop Dad Jeans (dad joke, anyone?) and they’re high waisted, a great wider-leg/straight-leg cut, a black wash (my fav) and really, the fresh denim style I’ve been wanting right now. Skinny jeans, you are the workhorse jean that we’ll always have around for comfort and versatility, especially with winter boots and rain boots, but straight-leg jeans, you are the cool cut that I get so much more excited about these days.

These Dad Jeans are somewhat similar to the 501s we all love, but have a different fit. They’re actually closer to my vintage black 501s I wore all last winter and loved. These have a nice high-rise though. and more room in the thighs than the new 501s we’ve been featuring on the blog for the past few months. These are rigid denim AND Topshop brand, so I went up a size, but they’re great. They’re already relaxing a little as I wore them for all these outfits. I was considering chopping them off at the ankle, but actually really dig the cuffs here, so I think I’ll wait. Let’s see how they look styled up, shall we?

 1. Topshop Dad Jeans + The Chelsea28 Pintuck Blouse

So, I realized I had tees and a few sweaters galore, but no cute tops in my Nordstrom sale edits so far. So when I did an in-store pickup again the other day, I grabbed this cute blouse. It has really cool cuffs and a v-neck that doesn’t button all the way up, which I find way more flattering and fits my bust better than a traditional button-up blouse. The fabric is sheer, but not too sheer and just adds a little feminine vibe to these otherwise edgy jeans. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention these new gorgeous boots that came in, too. The chocolate suede is just beautiful and even a little more caramel-leaning in person. I adore them and they have a nice, low kitten heel. AND they’re under $70. They come in a beautiful navy color I love, too, as well as black, burgundy and ooh…a calf-hair leopard that’s good. And you know I’m picky.

Add A Houndstooth Coat

This amazing Kenneth Cole plaid coat is a piece new-to-me, too. I love love that it’s unlined because it feels like wearing a cozy wool blanket. It also keeps it from feeling too heavy, even though it’s a full-length coat. I think I prefer it with the heeled booties more than the Blondo boots? What do you think?

…Or Try It With Edgier Boots

I like this…I think? Or is it slightly Sherlock Holmes? Haha. I don’t know. It’s ok. Perhaps just a graphic tee might work well here though, or a casual cozy sweater.

 2. A Classic Camel Coat + This Snake Bag = Love

OK, this might be my favorite look for colder weather. I love the brown tones of the boots and coat paired with all the black and white. Yes! This bag is just fabulous and probably easier to carry for me than the Clare V. leopard tote I adore. The suede of that bag kinda worries me for Portland weather, even though I’m sure I could treat it. I think my bag of the sale will be this AllSaints (which is still in stock, for now! Whew!)

3. Red UGG Loafers Are A Fun Choice

OK, these red loafer sneaks are just even better than I thought. I’m loving them for a comfy transitional shoe from summer to fall. The white with black band pair are fun, too, but the red are just supa fun. And have I mentioned enough that they’re totally cushiony?!

Warm It Up With A Camel Coat

Love camel and red together, and the proportions of the wider legs and the long coat are just a new favorite combo for me. I love a sneaker with an overcoat as an unexpected pairing. They are some of my favorite pieces to put together.

4. Top The Blouse With A Cozy Sweater

I typically prefer a half-tuck to a tunic-length-anything on me, but this works. The proportions with the wider-leg jean and the heeled boots help it look chic and lengthens my legs under the longer AllSaints sweater (that I love! back in stock, too, yay!) I think a taupe or black bootie might work even better here, color-wise though. Perhaps these that I’m still hoping to try out!

5. Or Try All Black + A Camel Coat

…well, all black with the gorgeous brown boots, that is. I love that they add a little more interest to this combo, but of course, a chic black boot would be cute, too! (These come in black.)

6. Ooh, This Cool Pendleton Coat Is So Good

Ok, as an Oregonian and a lover of amazing design, I’m a huge Pendleton fan. This black and white mixed media coat is just a fabulous winter option. It’s a great weight and has soft quilted lining. It’s roomy enough for a sweater underneath (I do have the XS on order to try, too) and it’s warm without feeling too heavy. This would be a serious go-to coat here, and it’s definitely Northwest-style meets Laura-style paired with these great black jeans and the DV mid tops.

7. …So Is This Moto Trench

Still love loving this coat! It’s so cool for a raincoat. Again, it’s water-resistant, but it’s the perfect weight and has a cozy hood. Great for in and out of the car, running errands, etc., and I’ve just not run across a raincoat that was so my vibe until now. For some reason, this coat is on sale at Amazon, but Nordstrom being awesome as it is, will price match!

8. And Finally, An Outfit For Now 

So the nice thing about a wider-leg jean is that they’re totally more wearable in slightly warmer weather. Plus, these have a rad breezy air vent on the left knee. Perfect. I’m loving this Zella twist front top, but it looks like white is selling quickly (still some sizes in stock though!) I found and ordered this one from Amazon yesterday though to compare! I sized up to a Medium so it would have a little more length. This is my new favorite style to wear with anything high waisted. No half-tucking or knotting skillz required!

9. Swap Out Different Accessories

Loving the look of both of these swaps below. How will I decide which bag to keep? Both are really well-made and so rad. And I didn’t wear the Adidas Stan Smiths with many of the looks here, but I really like them with these jeans.
