Finding a good pair of jean shorts is about as easy as finding gold at the end of a rainbow. But y’all…I think I found my pot of gold this season! In fact, I’m pretty sure I found it several times over.
I’m a huge fan of Good American jeans, and when the entire TME team did the 501 jean shorts try-on (spoiler: they didn’t work for me), I knew I needed to take Scotti’s recommendation and give GA shorts a try — and I am so so happy I did.
I had an inkling that I would love the Aline Short best, and they turned out to be the most amazing pair of shorts I’ve ever owned. I also loved the Good Vintage Short and the Raw Hem Bermuda Short. Good American brought it this season, and right now most pairs are on sale for $99 on GA’s website! Read on for me details on each fit below…
These are by far the absolute best pair of jeans I have tried on…EVER. The length is so comfortable because they don’t ride up and the cut and fit are just perfect. This was the first pair of jean shorts I’ve tried that have space between the leg and the pant — so amazing. I did size up one size for a looser fit, but my normal size (20) would have worked well for me too. I love EVERYTHING about these jean shorts so it was a no-brainer to keep them. I’ve had them for about a week now and have worn them nearly every day. You need these (and you will thank me when you get them!). Find them at Good American, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s and Shopbop.
Boy oh boy, are these vintage double waistband shorts SO good. I’m equally in love with these and the fit is perfect! I’ve never tried a double waistband short before, and I think the details on these make them super unique. Find them at Good American.
These cut-off shorts are so cute. I’m very into the dark wash accents on the pockets and the fun fringe hem. I found these to fit TTS though I would have liked a 1/2 inch extra fabric on the leg — but they’re called “cut-offs” for a reason, right!? Find them at Good American.
The Bombshell shorts are Scotti’s FAV, and while I do think they’re super cute, they run a tad too short for me and I’m not the biggest fan of the button-up fly. I am, however, all about the classic color, distressed detailing, and I thought they made my bum bum look amazing! Find them at Good American, Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s.
I couldn’t do a summer shorts post without sharing a pair of biker shorts! If you saw our biker shorts challenge from last spring, then you know that biker shorts are my absolute favorite — I even did an entire YouTube video on them. GA’s Boss Bike Short is an elevated biker short meant to be worn from “the boardroom to the bar” (YES). They have a side zip and the fit was absolutely perfect. However, I opted not to keep them as the shine on the short was a little too much for me. I’m still so excited about the concept of an elevated bike short and hope GA designs another pair with a little less shine. Find them at Good American.
For as much as I rave about biker shorts, their cousin the Bermuda has never been my cup of tea. That is…until I tried these babes on! GA’s Bermuda shorts fit like a glove and have a slightly higher cut than most Bermuda shorts I’ve tried. That, coupled with the dark faded denim accents and raw hemline, make these gold, friends! Find them at Good American and Nordstrom.
These are just too short for me, but I do like all the distressed detailing and the rips. I needed at least two more inches of fabric for these to work and they felt somewhat like denim underwear. Of all the shorts I tried, these ones were a no-go in my book. They may have worked better if I sized up. Find them at Good American and Bloomingdale’s.

All of the Good American shorts were really amazing fits for me and I’m so excited that I finally found my holy grail of jean shorts. If you haven’t tried GA shorts yet, you need to ASAP! I hope you’re all enjoying the start of summer.
