The denim diaries are BACK! Last month we took on mom jeans (post here), but this month’s feature is focusing on Good American’s Palazzo Jeans. We picked this pair initially thinking that these purportedly super-soft jeans would help coax us out of our joggers, give our spring wardrobes a little refresh, and be the kind of jeans we could wear well into summer (with a pair of cute wedges).

We Tried Good American Good Waist Palazzo Jeans (Think: High Rise, Wide Leg)

With an ultra high-rise and a flared silhouette, we thought it would be fun to see how GA’s Good Waist Palazzo Jeans looked on ALL of us.

Well. Let’s see….

Scotti’s Take on Good American Good Waist Palazzo Jeans

Scotti Says: L😍VE these jeans! I had a hunch I would like them–I’ve been a huge fan of Good American’s Good Waist jeans for years, and I’ve always loved flares–so stands to reason I would love the combination of the two!

Details: I’m 5’4″, 136 pounds with curves…somewhat pear-shaped with a booty! I’m wearing Good American Good Waist Palazzo Jeans in the color “B451,” size 6 (my usual size).

These are a bit more wide-leg than flare but still have that same leg-lengthening/make me look taller effect. They aren’t as crazy wide as some palazzo styles are, though, and the butt is still defined–they don’t just fall down from the top. They’re just a tad long on me (the inseam is 33″–an inch shorter than the inseam on the website says) but are perfect with heels. I might end up cutting the bottom hemline off…we’ll see. Also, the high rise is much higher than the 9.5″ listed…mine was just over 11! That worked out great for me, though, because the higher rise meant my waist was defined without creating muffin-top. I love them with bodysuits, but honestly I could probably style them the exact same way I wore these flares!

Meredith’s Take on Good American Good Waist Palazzo Jeans

Meredith says: DANG my butt looks great. It’s my first time trying Good American, and I was afraid these Good American Good Waist Palazzo Jeans would hit awkwardly on me — but they fit comfortably right above my belly button!

Details: I’m 5’7, short-waisted with long legs and maybe a slightly inverted triangle body shape. I have broad shoulders, but narrower hips. I’m typically a 10 in jeans, but decided to size up to a 12. I’m glad I did. Even with the stretch the 10 would have been too tight.

Jeans (12) | Shirt (M – similar) | Hat | Bag | Heels (8)

I thought these looked ridiculous coming out of the box, but they look fabulous on! They could use a little steaming on the bottom granted, but denim is lightweight, which is perfect for spring. I definitely need a heel like my Chelsea Date Night Heels for these or I’ll be sweeping the floor with the hem. I decided to lean into the ’70s vibe with a block heel and a floppy hat. A little bit groovy, a little bit “Alexis.”

Amy’s Take on Good American Good Waist Palazzo Jeans

Amy Says: I’m going to be blunt: I do not like these. Which I find all too ironic since I was one of the three people on our team who immediately squealed “YES!” for our next team try-on when I saw them.

Details: I’m an easy 5’9″ with absolutely zero curves, a bit of a rectangle shape. I’m wearing Good American Good Waist Palazzo Jeans in the color “Blue452” in size 6.

Jeans | Jacket | Bodysuit | Flats (similar)

When I initially pulled on these Good Waist Palazzo Jeans I thought “wow, soft” — I’m not used to stretchy, soft jeans now that my closet is 99% rigid denim. I had to keep pulling them down after every few steps because they were riding up on me; had I liked these, I would have exchanged for a size up to see if that solved the problem. Regardless, there is just too much stretch for something that is considered denim. It should be noted that the measurements were not what the web says — these were a 32″ inseam, 11″ rise in the front and 15″ in back. I was at a complete loss on how to style them with my own clothes. After five different tops and all of the shoes on my rack, I gave up and just left the last items on my body. The BIGGEST let down of it all? These jeans actually make my legs appear WIDER and SHORTER!!! The description literally says “insta long legs” will be an affect. No. It also promised “the best butt ever.” I’ve seen better. I can usually find something positive about anything, but these are just one big NOPE for me.

Cam’s Take on Good American Good Waist Palazzo Jeans

Cam’s Says: I like these jeans, but I don’t know that I can say that I love them. For a tall gal, a 34″ inseam isn’t quite long enough for me, at least for a flared style. I would have appreciated another inch, in order to make them more easily paired with a variety of footwear options.

Details: I am 5’11 and slim, but do have a bum. I usually wear a 4-6 in jeans, depending on the brand/style. I am wearing the Good American Good Waist Pallazo, size 4, color Blue452.

jeans (wearing 4) | sandals, TTS | top c/o

After trying them on with a new favorite sandal of mine, I did realize that…huh. Actually, I can see myself wearing these jeans with flats and a pretty Spring top. They are comfortably stretchy, flexible, well-made and…well. That bum! Honestly, the best thing about these jeans, for me, is the bootie lift. I just simply cannot deny their ability to put the spotlight on the behind…

Laura’s Take on Good American Good Waist Palazzo Jeans

Laura Says: Are these flattering? Yes. Would I wear them? Uh, yeah no. At some point we will pick a pairs of jeans that is a winner for me, but I’m so picky about jean styles and while my fellow teammates are totally rocking this vibe, it took my only pair of 3″ heels to make them work for me.

Details: Wearing a 4, and they’re SO high in the rise on me (this wash is 12″ I measured) that they’re quite squeezy. The rest of the fit is super comfy though! I’m typically a 27/28 in jeans and am 5’4″ with an athletic frame (straighter through the middle, shorter torso, strong thighs and a booty.)

Just from the photos it seems like this wash, while stretchy, is perhaps a bit thicker than the others. They weren’t uncomfortable but they weren’t super soft either. I so appreciate all the kind comments on IG about how these fit…they’re just not my style…and I’m sure I couldn’t walk in this much fabric AND 3″ heels. My palms are sweating… do they come in straight leg with distressed knees? Heh. Kthx.

Linzi’s Take On Good American Good Waist Palazzo Jeans

Linzi Says: I think I love these!

Details: Wearing a size 6 here. I’m 5’2, short legs, and curvy on the bottom half (pear-shaped). I wear a 28 in most denim right now. These are WAY long on me, but other than that I love the fit. I took out a measuring tape for these guys, and the rise in the front is 11 inches and the inseam is 32 inches.

I’ve been searching for a new style of denim that feels a bit fresher than my go-to cropped flares, and the Good American Palazzo is in the running for sure. I especially like that they’re soft and stretchy and totally different from anything I currently have. Fun, right?

Jess’ Take On Good American Good Waist Palazzo Jeans

Jess Says: From skeptic to believer!

Details: I’m 5ft 7in with a curvy frame, wide hips, thicker thighs and no bum. I’m wearing the Good American Palazzo Jeans in cream, size 6. The length is practically perfect with heels.

Kat’s Take On Good American Good Waist Palazzo Jeans

jeans | similar tee | jacket | shoes

Kat says: OMG LOVE LOVE LOVE these jeans! I always have been a huge fan of Good American jeans, and we all already know that the Nike Palazzo sweats are one of my favorites. So these are a win win for me. I think they fit my curves so well, and I love the flare of these.

Details: I am 5’2″ and normally a size 20 and these fit true to size for me. I ordered the cream pair in a 20 and a 22 and the 20 fit perfectly in that color as well.

I am seriously obsessed with how these fit, and for the first time ever, I pulled a Shana and decided to cut off a few inches for a raw hem look, and I have to say I love ’em both ultra-long and with the raw hem look. I am for sure keeping the lighter wash, and while I love the cream color too, I am torn about whether I’ll keep those too. They feel like the perfect pair for summer! I am curious which pair you all like better? Do I keep them both, or just stick with the lighter wash?

Shana’s Take on Good American Good Waist Palazzo Jeans

Shana says: Yup. Love ’em.

Details: I’m alllllmost 5’3″, and have been wearing a size 26 in jeans (but lately am happier in a 27). I’m wearing a size 2 in the Good American Palazzo pants, color is ‘B451’.

I’m also 45, which is now an age that — for the first time — seems to make a difference in terms of how things fit. (If you are confused by this statement, I’m guessing you are younger than 45.) Anywho. I’m pretty straight up-and-down, but have a bum and softer stomach — definitely not an hourglass. Apple? Aging ruler? Whatever.

I love how insanely soft these pants are (unlike Amy, I wholeheartedly embrace pajama-jeans), and the rise is juuuuust high enough (I have a pretty long-rise, especially for my height). I will probably hack the bottoms of these jeans off with scissors, though…maybe by 2 inches?

Em says: You know I’m all about low maintenance everything, but I was immediately excited for these Good American Palazzo Jeans to be our monthly pick, even though they demand a little more…planning. My favorite non-sneaker shoe to wear, weather permitting, is a platform sandal, so a billowy jean that allows me to do just that whilst appearing to float across the earth? My absolute jam.

Details: I’m 5’5″ tall, straight through the hips/torso, with strong thighs and a decent booty. I carry my weight around my middle, so any style that attempts to nip me in at the waist usually isn’t super comfy, but I feel like these do give me a little bit more shape, and the stretch denim is super comfy. Usually between a 0-2 (or a pretty standard 25) and I’m wearing a 0 in these. Wearing 3″ heels in this photo, but I also tried them on with a micro-platform sneaker (1″ish) and they dragged a bit — but not so much that I’m opposed to the overall effect.

Super into the ’70s-came-back-in-the-’90s (and, uh, now came back in the ’20’s — wait is this the ’20’s? what century are we in??) vibe — they’re just genuinely a style that I find to be so wearable. And unlike Laura, my rise was high-but-not-too-high. The perfectly perky posterior is a major pro, too. So yeah…super smitten.

Julieta’s Take On Good American Good Waist Palazzo Jeans

Julieta says: “My legs!!! yeah, I like them….but in a size smaller”

Details: I’m almost 5’2″, and for the past 8 months, I’ve been wearing a size 26. For these Good American Palazzo pants in cream, I went for a 2. But they feel loose. As soon as I’m back in the States, I’ll exchange for a size down and see. Also, as you can see, even with heels I need to hack them off. But my heels are only 2.5″ – not thinking of going higher than that.

Top (plus sizing) l Pants

The leg-lengthening effect and the softness are too good to pass up. I wish the rise were higher, I have a long rise for my height like S, but usually the main reason I like a high rise is to make my legs long, and the long wide leg is already doing it. So the rise passes the test.

Last, one note about the fabric composition, the exact pair I’m wearing has 9% of ellasterel P, which basically is a type of elastic polyester that recovers its shape fast and easy after tension is removed. I’m curious to see how much these pants stretch with wear. I don’t think a lot. So get the right sizing, because contrary to my beloved 99-100% cotton jeans, these will not give with wear. I do love that they will keep their shape throughout the day.
