Welcome to our Mom Jeans hub! Below you can find all of our articles about styling Mom Jeans (or the very similar Girlfriend Jeans)! Comfort above all else, that’s why we love them. They have a looser, more comfortable fit while still showing off the waist and hips. Mom jeans and girlfriend jeans can dress you up a bit while still being able to kick it back or run around with the kids. Here, you will find reviews of some of our favorite brands for this type of denim, such as MANGO, Good American, and Abercrombie.

What Are Mom Jeans?

We know Mom Jeans can be polarizing. But there’s no doubt that these high-rise, slightly tapered jeans are having a serious moment. A good high waist with just enough slouch makes for a killer pair, especially if they hit right above the ankle bone so you can show off your shoes. We also swear by tucking in tops (and showing off that waist) to wear mom jeans without feeling frumpy.

Mom Jeans vs. Girlfriend Jeans

Here for Girlfriend Jeans? We’ve noticed that brands typically use the label ‘girlfriend jean’ to describe a slimmer, more feminine version of a boyfriend jean.  This more feminine version is often, slimmer, a bit tapered, and rides higher on the hip. Aka…mom jeans. Either way, these styles are made to show off a waist and give the wearer a nice, rounded tush. It’s all about embracing our shape.

Tips For Styling Mom Jeans & Girlfriend Jeans

Tip 1: Add Some Volume On Top

Take your prettiest blouse that has some extra volume on the shoulders like Laura's, heeled booties, a fancy bag and pair it with your mom jeans for a night out on the town. Really, heels are the finishing touch — they're one of the easiest things to wear with mom jeans.

Tip 2: Show Off That Waist

Fully tucking in your top is one of the easiest ways to show off your waist with mom jeans. You can even try out a bodysuit like Scotti — they're perfect for this.

Tip 3: Knot A Graphic Tee

Show off your waist and lengthen those legs with a knotted graphic tee and some heels like Scotti. Adds some interest and makes for a flattering fit.

Tip 4: Tuck It In

A cozy crewneck, mom jeans and a pair of fuzzy birks...the foolproof momiform for Amy. How does she make the baggy crewneck work with the relaxed fit of mom jeans? Tuck it into the jeans. Comfy and practical, but still cute.

Tip 5: Layer For Cold Winter Days

Mom jeans are kinda great for snowy days. They are perfectly baggy enough to wear leggings underneath without looking frumpy. They also (surprisingly) work with winter boots when cuffed. Add a cute sweater under a bold jacket like Shana and you're winter ready.

How We Style Mom Jeans & Girlfriend Jeans

Our Editors’ Go-To Brands For Mom & Girlfriend Jeans

Good American

We've been loving on Good American jeans — Good Curve, Good Waist, Good Leg...we'll take em all! Their momish jeans are no exception.

We've loved Everlane's denim for awhile, but at the moment we're really loving on their ’90s Cheeky Straight Jean for a mom-jean-esque look.

Abercrombie's another go-to brand for their curve options. So, if you ever thought mom jeans didn't fit you quite right, give the Curve Love style a try.

MANGO makes some of Amy's fave mom jeans, and the price is just too good to pass up. If you're not totally sold on the mom jean trend, maybe give these less expensive ones a try!
