The Easiest Ever Outfit Idea: Oversized Sweater, Jeans & Ballet Flats

Now that the holiday season is officially upon us, life is getting real busy, real fast. So it’s nice to have an easy, everyday outfit combination I can rely on to save time getting ready and make life a little more simple. There are three pieces that always do the trick:

  • One oversized sweater (always from Free People – you know the ones)
  • Cropped Jeans (hey Levi’s)
  • Ballet Flats

Done and done.

An Easy, Everyday Outfit Worth Repeating (With 3 Oversized, Free People Sweaters)

No one does cozy, oversized sweaters quite like Free People. It’s safe to say I’ve been leaning heavily on them lately — their easy-going, casual pieces are pretty much foolproof when putting my everyday looks together. Literally nothing is more comfortable than a slouchy, oversized sweater, but Free People sweaters, in particular, have enough detail to make the look intentional & cute (not sloppy).

I’m also a longtime fan of Levi’s – whether Levi’s straight-leg jeans or Levi’s Ribcage Ripped Jeans – and have especially loved how they look with this pair of Mary Jane flats.

So using the Levis + Ballet Flats as a base, here are three Free People sweaters I’ve been wearing to make this look work.

Outfit 1:  Free People Orion A-Line Sweater

Sweater (M, Runs Large) | Jeans (30, Runs Small) | Ballet Flats (Similar)

I have to say, I love this Orion A-Line sweater by Free People even more than I thought I would. It gives the most amazing flowy-swishy vibes of all my Free People sweaters. I especially love that it’s cut on the side, for an extra breeziness effect, and is longer in the back than in the front, for superior bum coverage. Psst.. the Levi’s Ribcage Ripped High Waist Ankle Straight Leg Jeans I’m wearing are 45% off right now!

Outfit 2: Free People’s Chamomile Cardigan + Ribcage High-Waist Straight Leg Levi’s + Ballet Flats

FP Cardigan (M, Runs Large) | Similar Lace Top | Jeans (30, Runs Small) | Similar Flats

I have been looking for the perfect ‘grandpa’s best cardigan’ sweater for a loooong time before I finally found it in this Free People Chamomile Cardigan. It’s definitely got all the good ‘grandpa vibes’ I was looking for – it’s oversized, heavy-weight, made with high-quality fabric, complete light-ribbing and vintage-inspired buttons! It’s also over 40% off right now at Nordstrom and comes in three other colors.

Outfit 3: Free People’s Alli V-Neck Sweater + Levi’s + Ballet Flats

Sweater (M, Runs Large) | Jeans (30, Runs Small) | Similar Flats

This Alli V-neck Sweater by Free People has quickly become one of my most worn sweaters this fall. First, I LOVE the color. The ‘Placid Blue’ color is bright and vibrant in person and it looks so flattering on! Also, the chunky knit is nice and thick (whereas FP’s Orion A-line sweater is much more lightweight in comparison), so it keeps me nice and warm. The extended v-neck and slouchy shoulders add to its overall oversized fit. It’s also 30% off at Nordstrom right now.
