I Walked Into Everlane On A Whim & Left With A Fall Wishlist

0

The one and only time I shopped at Everlane was in 2019. I bought a basic white tee for a collective post our TME team was doing, and while I liked the tee, I didn’t give the brand much thought afterwards. Fast forward seven years and I’m now living in a new city, with new (to me) malls and shops, and I stumbled into the store just to peek around.

I was so impressed with all of Everlane’s high-quality basics. Not only did I love everything I tried, I was genuinely excited to add another better-for-the-environment brand to my limited list of natural fiber options as a plus-size babe.

Finding brands that combine sustainable materials with a size range that actually works for my body isn’t easy, and Everlane checked both boxes in a way I wasn’t expecting going in.

While Everlane doesn’t technically sell plus-size clothing, their size range does go up to XXL, and I found that their XL pieces fit me like a glove. I typically wear an XL in tops, and everything I tried ran true to size for me. It’s honestly pretty rare for me to walk into a store and find pieces that have a consistent, reliable fit across different styles, and it was refreshing to see that Everlane’s pieces all fit me the same. That kind of sizing predictability made the whole experience feel easier than shopping with a lot of other brands, plus-size specific or not.

Let’s start here with the basics. And while yes this tee is technically basic, the look and the feel is not. I am a sucker for an interesting and elevated basic and Everlane does this so well. The U neckline and cutie little tie-back moment turned a basic white tee into something fresh and different.

I loved it so much in white I had to try it in black too, and tbh it’s one of those tops that if “I like it, I love it, Imma buy it in every color.” The black tee version feels a little more sultry and perfect for date night.

This lightweight cropped utility jacket was certainly the star of everything I tried on. It’s the kind of jacket that makes for the perfect transitional piece, and pairs well with light weight tees and even thicker cashmere sweaters.

I personally love that it’s unlined because it allows for a bit more breathability in the late summer and early fall evenings. And I especially like that you can opt to wear it and show off the cream cuffed sleeve interior. It’s made of 100% organic cotton and comes in several other color ways too.

Can someone please explain to me why every single time I try on a striped top, I feel like I should be in an episode of Blues Clues?! I love the striped trend so much, but am convinced it doesn’t like me, or maybe my brain is just too hard wired to associate stripes with one of my favorite tv shows as a child. But anyways I digress… because I think this striped long sleeve actually looked good on, and if it was available in my size xl I likely would have taken it home with me.

I love how lightweight it felt, and the baby blue and bone colorway felt much more subdued than other stripe combos I’ve tried. It’s made of 100% “Good Earth Cotton®” and fits true to size.

4 | Everlane Cocoon Crew in Alpaca

Oh my god am I so freaking bummed that this gorgeous alpaca crew was itchy on my ultra sensitive skin, because damn the fit was so so good! I am typically a girl who hates sweaters, and for good reason… I tend to run hot hot hot, and am allergic to most wools and cashmeres. But seriously, I LOVED how this sweater fit me. It would have 100% come home with me, if I didn’t find it itchy, which TBH is a me problem. So if you’re looking for an incredibly fitting sweater for fall, this one is it! And it’s reasonably priced too.

I honestly loved everything I tried in store at Everlane, including this great basic long sleeve that’s perfect for the transitional weather ahead. You guys, when I tell you it was so freaking soft, I mean it! It looks great on its own, but would also work well as a base layer too. I tried it on in the color ‘washed heather’, but really want to order it in a few other colors too because it comes in 10 different color ways.

Wow wow wow, did Everlane freaking blow me away! Seriously such great transitional pieces in materials I’m actually excited to wear. I might have to place an online order because there are several other things I’ve got me eye on from their website, too!
