Everyday Style (#myeverydayedit)

It was SO fun “meeting” so many of you via our #myeverydayedit party on Instagram.  I’ve been inspired by some seriously fun ideas . . . so THANK YOU for playing along!  If you haven’t joined us yet, you’re missing out!  I love the sense of community I feel when I’m looking at your posts and reading your comments . . . even if I never get to leave the house that day!  (Or, especially when I don’t get to leave the house!)

Here’s my weekly roundup of outfits . . .

Poncho over a (faux) leather jacket

Shana’s idea . . . I can’t take the credit.  It’s getting a *tad* warmer here (like we cheer when it’s above 30 degrees), and I couldn’t wait to get out of the winter coats.  Shana suggested I throw a poncho over one of my many many leather jackets (they’re my favorite) to make it warmer and I LOVED it.  She’s a genius.

Leggings: Express

(Faux) Leather Jacket: Express

Poncho: Old, but this one from Smart Bargains is very similar (and cheap!)

Shirt: Alternative scoop neck t

Tank: I’m literally obsessed with these tanks from Target because they’re so long and I wear them pretty much every day . . . also wore them during my pregnancy, just bought a bigger size . . . LOVE.

Scarf: Calvin Klein Infinity Scarf

Boots: Chinese Laundry

Late Night

“Late nights” have taken on a new meaning for me.  Staying up with a teething baby is like getting a hangover without the booze.  Awesome.  I wasn’t feeling getting dressed at all, so I compromised with a super comfy sweatshirt and sequin leggings.  They’re actually way more comfortable than they sound and when paired with my favorite slipper shoes of all time . . . heaven.

Leggings: Old from American Eagle, but I just found these awesome jogger pants made for girls that come in plus sizes (under $20!?) . . . and these jogger pants from Guess look just as comfy

Tank: I told you I was obsessed with these Target tanks!

Sweatshirt: Old from Express, but I’m seriously loving this Biggie Smalls sweatshirt from Forever 21! (On a side note, I used to teach poetry using his lyrics . . . they don’t make hip-hop like they used to!)

Shoes: Another OBSESSION of mine are these ridiculously comfortable slippers shoes from Ugg . . . I have them in four colors and want more.  They feel so incredibly soft on your feet and I wear them constantly because my feet are always cold.  You won’t regret purchasing a pair (they run big like Ugg boots).

Yellow!  Because, Spring . . . (or, 40 degrees)

This week we had a peek of Spring weather!  The sun, the melting snow, the dirty sand everywhere from melting snow, the dog poop all over the yard . . . yeah, Spring in the Yoop is a bit different, but I digress.  G had a tough week due to her teeth, so she was the best photobomb ever.  (and loves watching herself in the screen).  I love yellow and how it brightens everything up . . . I wear it with bright red or pink lips.

Sweater: Old, from Forever 21, but this one (also from F21) comes in a gorgeous yellow color

Jeans: American Eagle Jeggings, and I’m also drooling over these high rise distressed jeggings (to hide the pooch!)

Tank: Yup, you guessed it . . . Mossimo’s long and lean tank from Target (no, not the same one at least!)

Scarf: Old, but these scarves from Halogen have awesome reviews and come in some gorgeous colors!

Booties: Old, but these booties are very similar

Watch: Old Nikon, but look at how cute this watch that comes with matching bracelets is!

Necessary Clothing Basic Dress

I ordered this “basic” dress from Necessary Clothing back when they had a huge sale.  It is super comfy, comes in a ton of different colors and looks great — on the models.  I’m a bit (ahem) shorter at 5’4″ so the dress . . . didn’t . . . quite . . . look the same. Again, Shana inspired me and I tied the dress on the side . . . and loved how it drapes over my pooch but is still long enough to wear with leggings.  Shana to the rescue . . . again!  I’ll definitely be buying some of these in spring colors.  (Did I mention how COMFY they are??)

Dress: Necessary Clothing (that color is sold out but they have a bunch of new spring colors)

Leggings: Nordstrom

Boots: Old Nine West, but these BCBGeneration booties have my attention right now

Lips: NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella

Sorel Boots with the Fur

I freaking LOVE Sorel boots.  They are so comfortable, waterproof and WARM.  My feet are always cold (see above, wearing slippers as shoes), so I’m happy to have boots that keep them toasty.  PLUS?  They give me some serious height without the pain of heels.  Win-win.  Dark jeggings, a comfy sweater . . . pretty basic, so I threw on a plaid scarf, bright red lips and a (faux) leather jacket for a bit of edge.  (Plus I’m holding the best diaper bag ever.  Seriously.)

Boots: Sorel Joan of Arctic Ankle Wedges

Jacket: Express (Minus the) Leather Boxy Moto Jacket (It’s my favorite and I love it in white as well!)

Jeans: the high waist on these Stretch Skinny Jeans hide the pooch!

Tank: Target tank (it’s getting embarrassing now)

Sweater: old, but this cashmere sweater is half off and comes in seriously gorgeous colors!

Scarf: mine was sold out but I love this one from ASOS (under $30!)

Lips: Stila Liquid Lipstick in Beso

Diaper Bag/Best Purse Ever: Lily Jade

Express Mid Rise Flares, aka, the Comfiest, Most Flattering Jeans I Own . . .

I ordered a pair of Express’ mid rise flares over Christmas and LOVED them the second I put them on.  I even ordered a second pair in the short length so I can also wear them with flats.  (They come in longer lengths for you tall girls as well . . . I’m looking at you, Cams.)  The rise is high enough to cover a pooch without being too much and they have just the right amount of stretch in them.  Plus they make legs look so much longer than they are.  I’ll be wearing these all season and can’t wait to wear platform sandals underneath.  (Snow, snow, melt away!)

Jeans: Express Mid Rise Slim Flare Jean

Boots: Nine West (only available in size 9) but these Nine West boots are so cute and these wedges from Clarks are almost 1/2 off (and you know Clark’s are comfy)

Jacket: Old but this BLANKNYC Moto jacket has a similar drape and I’m DYING over the fringe on this biker jacket! (although I wouldn’t wear it with the shorts pictured in the photo.  ahem.)

Shirt: Mossimo tank and Alternative scoop neck t

Necklace: Stella & Dot

Bracelet: Old, but this one from Express is similar

Bag: Old Coach bag

Sunday Funday

Sunday is a day to relax and have fun, right?  This is my version of a t-shirt and jeans combo . . . ripped denim and a ridiculously soft, thin, grey t.  I loved the way the burgundy boots kicked the look up a notch (and there’s no way to wear flats or heels outside here yet) and added some big earrings.  I did the half-tuck (again, compliments of Shana) because the t-shirt just wasn’t laying right.  I think the boots made this look for me.

Jeans: American Eagle Tomgirl Jeans (I’m loving these boyfriend jeans from Sun & Shadow)

Boots: Nine West (low in stock, similar Nine West booties or Clark’s Wedges)

T-Shirt: Alternative Apparel

Earrings: Similar from Target

Ring: Similar

Your Turn!

Here are just a few of my favorites from this past week (because there were literally a ton) . . . @lantonacci’s leather pants and bootie combo, @the_fly_mommy‘s bun, mai tai shirt (love) and sneaks (those laces!), @tysieright‘s leather jacket, destroyed denim and stripes, @flatbummum‘s striped t with leopard print scarf and moto boots, @francesayme’s pop of yellow over a grey floral top and @onafullstomach’s combo of black jeans, chucks, toddler and wine.  You make me feel like I’m not alone! LOL  LOVE the looks and outfit inspiration! Keep them coming!

  1. I really love a lot of these outfits!!! Can you comment on the Necessary Clothing tunic? I would like to order one but my arms are “bigger” I lift so I have bulging biceps – lol. thanks for the fun outfit idea!

    • First of all, I’m totally jealous of bulging biceps. I’m working on it! The tops are smaller in the arms but they also stretch quite a bit . . . there’s lots of give there. I wish I could be more help!

  2. Huh. That was half my comment?! Well what’s the sizing like with both of the ae jeans? Junior sizing ? How do you find the fits?

    • I’m honestly not sure if it’s junior sizing or not, but I don’t think it is. I normally wore a size 4 (in AE) before pregnancy, then bought 8’s during my pregnancy (used a hair tie to secure the button) and now I’m in size 6. In juniors sizing I was usually a 7 . . . pre-pregnancy. Haven’t ventured back to the juniors section since! LOL

  3. Love those Target tanks! I, too, have an embarrassing number in just about every color. They make any shirt a nursing-friendly shirt!

  4. I love the hoops and big earrings, but how, oh HOW do you manage to wear them without the baby ripping your ears off?!? Anything bigger than a stud and my little one becomes obsessed with getting them out. Or in her mouth.

    • G has just started to be OBSESSED with my jewelry. I got away with it for awhile, but I’m thinking those days are coming to an end . . . I wore big awesome earrings to dinner this week and had to throw them in the diaper bag by the end of the night . . . damn! 🙂

  5. Scotti – I LOVE this post and keep referring back to it…..I got the express jeans (in my smaller – size 6 jean size) I was with my friend and she loved them so much she got a pair. We have named them “pajama jeans” (not to be confused with actual pajama jeans) because they are soooo comfy. I am so glad you posted affordable denim that looks and feels great! I am tempted to get a pair for flops. Next on my list is to order the Tomgirl jeans – did you just order your “normal” size? Thanks again for the awesome post.

    • SO happy to read this comment! Always nice to hear such positive feedback! 🙂 I’m glad you asked about the Tomgirl jeans . . . I usually wear a 6 or an 8 in the AE jeggings, but in the Tomgirl jeans I sized down quite a bit . . . to size 2! They’re definitely meant to be baggy but I just didn’t like how baggy my “true” size fit on me. I’m bigger on the bottom, though, so it depends on your body shape and how you like them to fit! Hope this helps! 🙂

  6. Ok – so part 2 of my comment – I might have returned to express and bought a second pair of the jeans but this time in a 4!!! I will hem one pair for flip flop (I think – no shorts in stock)then at AE I tried a 4 in tomgirls (only size available at the time) and they fit!!! But my thighs were a bit too bulgy out of the distressing and the waist was snug – I ordered a 6 tall (no regulars left company wide) we will see if they fit and see how much they need to be cut or hemmed. Thanks again for all the posts. PS – any idea of what one should wear for a first communion and reception?
