I tend to go a little overboard when I find something I like.  I’ll buy the same pair of shoes in two different colors or the same jeans in 4 different washes.  This shirt?  I have it in ten – TEN – different colors and patterns.  AND?  I found myself contemplating two more this morning when I realized they were on sale.  I LOVE this shirt.  It is probably one of the most versatile items in my closet . . . it can be dressed up or down, be sexy or conservative, hide pooches or muffin tops and is perfect for nursing.  You need one, right?  (Or ten).

Shirt: Express Portofino (Buy one get one $19.90 right now!)

Jeans: Gap Mid-Rise Real Straight (if you’re curvy like me) or Gap’s Sexy Boyfriend Jeans (BOTH on SALE now at GAP!)

Shoes: (Similar) Dolce Vita Noralee (different sizes and colors on sale here) or Steve Madden’s “Ponncho” Booties for colder weather

Bag: (Similar) Steve Madden Large Fringed Crossbody Hobo (large enough for a diaper bag) or Express Fringed Drawstring Bucket Bag (smaller, but still large enough for a diaper or two)

Bracelet: Stella & Dot Bardot Spiral Bangle (in silver or gold)  and Alex and Ani Cross Wrap Bangle (similar and on sale) or this Express Cut-Out Metal Cuff (also on sale)

Earrings: Old Stella & Dot, but I’m loving these gorjana “G-Ring ” Earrings (now on sale) and these Goddess Teardrop Earrings

This is a pretty typical example of the way I wear the Portofino shirt now.  In the colder months I’ll add boots and a tank underneath but it also works great for warm weather . . . it doesn’t cling, it drapes well and the top button is in the perfect spot to be left unbuttoned to add a little sexy without being too trashy. The summer before I had Greenlea I wore them with short denim cut-offs and sky-high amazing shoes like these Steve Maddens (I don’t know if I can wear them while holding G, but OMG are they sexy).   I don’t know when I’ll get my butt back into my short shorts again (if ever), but this will be the outfit I wear when I can!

All Portofino’s are on sale right now and you can get up to 40% off your Express purchase now-Sunday with the code 1546.

    • No! Totally depends on the color you get…I have some patterned ones that are very sheer, then a couple of these lighter ones that are slightly sheer and the other colors are opaque. The reviews and comments on the site actually helps a lot when choosing a color. Hope that helps!

    • I’m wearing an XS because I have super small shoulders . . . the reviews on the site are also helpful to choose the right size!

  1. I am so thrilled to see all these postpartum and nursing friendly posts right now! I am 2 months postpartum and in need of stylish and mom-tested wardrobe tips. Thanks so much, mamas and Congrats to Scotti!

  2. Woot woot! First time taking advantage of the shopping enablement! Went in on an order with my sisters and together bought four shirts 🙂

  3. I just ordered in black! How sheer is the black one? I read through the reviews and couldn’t figure that out. Do you have that color, Scotti?

  4. The black one is great – I have it! I also do NOT iron . . . so the only time they’re wrinkly is when I accidentally leave them in the dryer. (Which is another reason I love it – machine wash no problem). If they do get wrinkly, I throw them in the dryer with a wet washcloth and they’re good to go – no iron necessary! 🙂

  5. I’m five months post Partum and have had really good luck with tops from Nordstrom (BP) by Lush with a really similar silhouette. The perfect tunic (link below) is awesome. Covers your assets in leggings, nursing friendly, hides the pouch and muffin. The only downside is it’s dry clean only, and my dear sweet baby is a major spitter.

  6. i got the shirt in eggplant and wore it today. my boyfriend said “Wow, you look great in that shirt! you have some body!” thank you cuz I would have never gotten it had a not read this post and seen it on you! keep it up!

  7. Haha I have this shirt in 6 solid colors and 3 patters, but you beat me with 10! I could not agree more, I am in love with the shirt. I would have to add that because of the cut and the fabric (I recommend the polyester, not the cotton), this is really the first button-up shirt that I have ever found that accommodates breasts! It’s perfect at work or for a night out, and I NEVER Iron mine (I just machine wash and then hang dry, because of the fabric it dries so fast). I hate to sound like I’m being paid by Express (sadly, I am not), but I am actually GRATEFUL to them for coming out with this shirt which has made my morning routine easy for once in my life.
