I don’t remember a time where I’ve been more into coats, y’all. Usually, here in the rainy NW, they’re just a workhorse for me, and I stick with black & waterproof (snooze). But this year, I keep branching out into the world of beautiful outerwear and am having so much fun with it.
I can’t stop trying all of the gorgeous coats: cozy coats, plaid coats, leopard coats…I haven’t met one I don’t like yet. A coat can really take any fall or winter outfit up a notch, all with one easy piece. Sure, a workhorse black coat is great, but you probably have that. I say have fun with your coat choice!
Easy Outfit Upgrade: Cute Coats & Cool Shoes
Whether you’re a sherpa or plaid coat fan, there’s a little something for you here. I paired both styles with two new favorite shoe finds; fun flats and all-weather boots (the kind you want to wear out and about). There’s also a roundup of coats and shoes at the end, so you can find the color or fabric you love best.
Cozy Teddy Coat + Cute Leopard Print Mules (Party Flats)
The shade of this coat is simply stunning. It’s like a rich, toasty caramel. Julieta can chime in here with some color theory, but I think this hue would look amazing on so many different people. I find lighter camel tricky to wear, but this deep beautiful rust is a winner. I love it with the leopard print flats (or, as I’ve been calling them, party flats). The green bag tops it all off beautifully and this might be one of my favorite pairings in a while. Love!

coat // Sam Edelman Faux Fur Teddy Coat – I mean, teddy coat even sounds cozy. The collar on this is rad, and I like the length for us shorties. I found a similar full-length version, too!
sweater // Halogen V Neck Cashmere Sweater – A really reasonably priced cashmere. This year’s version seems to have a little deeper V and is even cozier than the one I have from before! You can get this now for 33% off!
jeans // Levi’s 501 Skinny or this one – Get your typical size, wear them around, spray them with water on the tight parts, and they’ll become your absolute favs. Or size up for a looser fit from the get-go. I also love the wash on this pair, and they have a tiny bit of stretch.
bag // Topshop Crissy Faux Leather Bag – This is just fun and cute and holds plenty, but is easily wearable. LOVE the color and the snake texture.
shoes // Halogen Elyssa Buckle Mule – I’ve been wearing these a ton over the last week. They are so cute and make any plain outfit more fun. I’m labeling them party flats for that reason (is that a thing? because it should be!) I love them.
Gorg Plaid Coat + Rad Sneaker Boot / All-Weather Combo
You know I’m loving plaid coats this year and this one is no exception. Maybe it’s my Scottish roots, but plaid just always makes me feel extra cozy, wintery and chic. Put one of Nordstrom’s fab plaid coats on with these amazing all-weather shoes and you have a lovely pairing for this time of year. These shoes are a great mix of sneaker-meets-rainboot and I’m loving them. They’re also lined with faux fur to keep your toes toasty!

coat // Court & Rowe Plaid Coat (s) – Dang it. Going quickly but it’s so lovely. Fits true to size and I love the collar. I’ve linked to a few more below!
sweater // Halogen V Neck Cashmere Sweater (s) – A really reasonably priced cashmere. This year’s version seems to have a little deeper v and is even cozier than the one I have from before!
jeans // Everlane High-Rise Skinny in Alvarado wash (27) – A team favorite. I’ve been wearing the heck out of these lately. They keep their shape so so well. I even wore them on my cross-country flight and they were so comfy. LOVE.
bag // Rebecca Minkoff Mini M.A.C. – Minkoff does it again with the perfectly convenient bags that also look great. Here’s a similar version I love, too. They hold enough but aren’t too big. The metal details add just enough shine to make your outfit fun.
shoes // Coach Urban Hiker Faux Fur Lined Boot – THESE. I love them! They’re like a rainboot…meets a snowboot..meets a sneaker. They have a flattering wedge that’s still comfy to walk in and they’ll be so great for a PNW winter. My new favorites for warmth and those inevitable rainy days! TTS.
scarf // Canada Goose Merino Wool Scarf – Soft, warm and would make a great gift.
