Foolproof Christmas Gifts For Girls, Guys….and Kids

Happy Holidays, you guys!!!  In honor of the season, Nordstorm asked me if I’d share my favorite gifts for the holidays.  So I did:  I rounded up the best, most foolproof gifts for girls, guys and kids.  Not only is Nordstrom’s selection totally and completely amazing….but their shipping is fast, free, and their return policy unparalleled.

So yeah:  these gifts are good.  And coupled with Nordstrom’s return policy…

Totally and completely foolproof.

I’m beyond excited to share this list with you guys – it’s been a ton of work but it’s a fun one, and (hopefully) has something for everyone.  Enjoy!!

Starting With Some Solidly Good Gifts…

If you haven’t checked out Nordstrom’s Holiday Gifts section, prepare to be wowed.  I thought I’d kick off this giant gift guide with a few quirky, fun gifts for everyone.  The kind of stuff you didn’t realize you needed…until it’s actually in your hands.

Cashmere Sweaters

Equipment Cashmere Turtleneck Sweater | Equipment Cashmere V-Neck Sweater (both xs)

There’s really nothing better than a cashmere sweater – cozy, cute, amazing drape, aaaaand…machine washable.  I throw mine into a garment bag and wash on cold, then lay flat….or flatish to dry.  Or hang, sometimes, if I can’t find the space.  But the point is that these things last. And once December rolls around, it’s pretty much the only thing I wear (over and over and over again).

Who wouldn’t love to open up a super cozy pair of slippers?  NO ONE.  Especially if they’re UGGs.  I keep trying other brands but I ultimately end up disappointed.  UGGs makes the best slippers.

Cute & Cozy Winter Accessories

There’s something so fun about opening up a new set of matching (or perfectly un-matching) hats and mitts.  Personally, I like mine a little on the crazy side – it helps to break up the sea of black coats in the winter.

On me (shana):

Kate Spade hat | Kate Spade gloves | Equipment Cashmere Turtleneck Sweater (xs) | jeans

On Scotti:

Soia & Kyo Net Beanie | Studded Leather Tech Gloves |Equipment Cashmere V-Neck Sweater (xs)

Dainty Jewels

My friend refers to this type of jewelry as ‘date-night jewels’.   I get it – there’s something very romantic about a little box with something sparkly inside.

Man Jewelry

The easiest way for a guy to make his basic go-to pieces more interesting is to personalize them with a cool watch, and some man-jewelry.  I think leather bracelets are especially sexy (and comfortable to wear).

Pretty Clutches

Know why an evening bag makes a great gift?  Because the good ones – the really exciting, SWOON-worthy ones, are always a liiiitle bit pricier than anyone wants to spend on an evening bag.  Which makes recieving one truly a gift.  (Thanks TME team – I LOVE mine.  xo)

Man Bags

These bags can all carry laptops (or diapers), and are professional enough to be used in the office, but cool enough for the weekends, too.

I love gifting my fav beauty items to girlfriends (who doesn’t love to try something new??), or finding them in my stocking.  But there are also a few gift ideas so good, they can easily take center stage.

lipstick:  Urban Decay in Bang

Tech and Travel Accessories

If you are looking for a gift that really will get used on the regular, try a tech gift.  (I’m partial to tech gifts that are both beautiful and practical.)

For Kids!!!!!!

Saved the best (and most fun) for last.

Happy, happy, happy holidays.

A big, HUGE thank you to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post, and for the all of the support you’ve given The Mom Edit over the last few years.  We truly appreciate and value your partnership.  And readers, thank you for your continued love and support.  It hasn’t gone unnoticed, and has been so appreciated.  Thank you for an amazing year.

  1. I love your Nordstrom posts! I live in the middle of nowhere and don’t get to the stores very often. Their free shipping and returns, and having a Ncard, make it the easiest place for me to online shop. Dying for that black cashmere sweater and hoping it may go on sale soon. Love your style Shana!

  2. To the critical commenters: I read them, I heard you. But here’s the thing: it’s the holidays, the entire team has been working their butts off to provide this free content – take it or leave it.

    • Not sure what this comment is about…but Shana, I love this gift guide. Neat ideas for the folks that are tricky to buy for. Christmas and shopping are fun – but undeniably stressful for some. Perhaps any cranky cranks just needed your reminder to step back for a sec and appreciate the content you provide. I really and truly look forward to all the TME posts. As a busy mum and teacher I don’t have much free time, but I make sure to carve out a bit of time every evening to check TME. I drool over some items and know I can’t afford them, but they act as inspiration to shop my closet or other retailers for something similarish to change up an outfit. So…..thank you. Thank you for any time my tween students think my outfit looks good. Thank you for the compliments I get from my friends, family, hubs, and sometimes random strangers. And…thank you for making me feel more confident in my own skin. I appreciate it. Merry Christmas!

  3. I read TME because you make me laugh, because your courage and humor and honesty have helped me feel more like a real person since I became a mom. And upped my style game. I can’t afford most of what you post but I still love following, and I did get those Sorel wedges last Christmas. And I’m glad every freakin time I wear them. Merry Christmas, y’all!

  4. I also want to say thank you to Shana and the TME team! You are my guilty pleasure. I love checking in every day to see all the beautiful clothing, but also to hear about your lives and your families. I appreciate all the work that you do, and I’m wishing you happy holidays!!!
