Remember this chic sweatshirt?
The capelet style hoodie from Frank & Eileen has been my favorite elevated option for the last few years when I still want to be laid back and comfortable, so much so that I recently found myself looking online for new colors. However, that’s when I discovered…
They don’t make it anymore.
But to my delight, I quickly figured out that Quince does make an almost identical version.
You know where this is going.
Quince French Terry Hoodie Review (Better Than Frank & Eileen?)
Frank & Eileen might not be selling the Kane Capelet Hoodie anymore, but you can find a lot of other tops in their famous french terry, as well as other cape-like silhouetted tops. You can also peruse Poshmark for a gently used option.
But none of the other options Frank & Eileen sell, in my opinion, are as good as the hoodie.

So when I found that Quince had a seemingly identical version, I jumped at the chance to try it out and compare.
Quince vs Frank & Eileen: French Terry Hoodies
The Similarities:
Both tops are made with 100% french terry cotton, one of the best parts of this entire hoodie concept.

They are both exceptionally soft, and have a really cool raw edge effect around all of the hems (keep in mind, I’ve been wearing + washing the gray one since 2024 so there’s a more noticeable wear).
While the curved cape hemline of both hoodies makes it feel a lot more elevated than your average sweatshirt, the frayed edges keep them feeling easy and laid back.

One of my favorite parts? They both have perfectly scrunchable sleeves designed to stay up at your elbows when desired. An element I’ve never found in any other sweatshirt before.

The Differences:
While Quince’s version is made with 100% organic cotton, the tag on my Frank & Eileen option does not specifically use the word organic.
I have a size XL in both sweatshirts, and although they seem to be pretty much the same in overall body size, the sleeves are significantly tighter and more restrictive on F&E’s sweatshirt.

I think because of this tighter sleeve + flowy body combination, the Kane Hoodie gives more of an obvious perception of a cape. Visually, I think it actually looks better, but it can be overstimulating in the sense of how tight the sleeves feel.
The Verdict? Thank You Quince!
I love the exaggerated cape look of Frank & Eileen’s Kane Hoodie, but Quince has come pretty darn close with the creation of their Organic French Terry Hoodie.

With the bonuses of it being made with organic cotton, and maybe the biggest factor I have yet to point out – the much more affordable price point – Quince came in swinging a home run once again.
In fact, I think it’s my favorite piece to come out of Quince since their famous cardigan I once wrote so heavily about!
