The Coolest Sweater Set I’ve Seen This Fall (+ 6 Ways To Mix And Match It)

0

When it comes to getting dressed in the fall and winter months, there is one type of clothing that I personally think you can get the most love and wear out of more than any other…

A matching sweater set.

Predictable and boring? Maybe. But a closet holy grail? Most definitely.

There’s always a plethora of sweater sets put out across every brand each fall, but this hoodie and the matching sweater pants from Gap are easily the coolest I’ve seen.

Styling GAP’s CashSoft Matching Set: Sweater Pants + Relaxed Hoodie

Here’s the thing…a good sweater set can go the distance. It acts as comfy loungewear, a cute school pickup + drop off fit, AND your weekend uniform. It’s like your fave PJ set but far more put-together.

A REALLY good sweater set – I’m talking about one with unique detailing or statement coloring – can also act as individual pieces for mixing and matching with your favorite wardrobe pieces. Which means multiple ways to style for multiple days of wearing and an even better cost-per-wear (and THAT’S why it becomes a wardrobe holy grail).

Gap’s CashSoft collection has been a longtime favorite of mine. It’s luxuriously soft without the precious care instructions. I can vouch for the pieces holding up through multiple years and many washes. But their new relaxed sweater hoodie is probably my favorite thing they have ever put out.

The side stripes lean vintage yet surprisingly modern and fresh and, simply put, the hoodie looks REALLY cool worn as a set with the matching pants. But thanks to those subtly striking stripes, mixing-and-matching the pieces with your regular faves is an easy task.

Wearing The Gap CashSoft Set As A Set: Shoes + Layers

The easiest way to wear Gap’s CashSoft relaxed hoodie and loose sweater pants is together as a set, naturally.

Sneakers, ballet flats, and even boots pair well, thanks to the looser drape of the pants.

A thicker coat won’t be needed where I live for a little while yet, but if you’re needing an extra layer, the hoodie is plush yet medium-weight, making it really easy to throw most jackets over the top!

What to Wear With Sweater Pants: 3 Easy Outfit Ideas

The rainbow-hued stripes trailing down the side of these sweater pants make them quite fun to pair with other tops.

Outfit 1: Sweater Pants + Gap’s Organic Cotton Sweater

Gap’s 100% organic cotton sweater is super popular for a reason, including but not limited to: high quality, an amazing drape around your frame, and cuffs that are easy to roll for styling tricks. But it also comes in the best colors this season – this blue is such a good pairing to the darker navy in the pants and the pop of color down the sides.

Outfit 2: Sweater Pants + A Men’s Raglan Baseball Tee

How many raglan tees in your closet is too many? Don’t tell me, I don’t want to know (because I am certainly a case for the “too many”). There’s a ton of options out there but this baseball tee from the men’s section adds extra length to the body + sleeves which I super appreciate. It’s also one of the best prices!

Outfit 3: Sweater Pants + An Oversized Flannel Button-down

Maybe it’s because I’m from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan but I firmly believe a flannel goes with everything. Funky sweater pants included.

How to Style Gap’s CashSoft Relaxed Hoodie: 3 Outfit Ideas

The pants are fun…but I think the hoodie might actually be my favorite of the two.

Outfit 1: CashSoft Relaxed Hoodie + Levi’s Cargo Pants

Honestly, this relaxed hoodie and cargo pants could be my uniform of fall. It’s comfortable, it’s uncomplicated, and as an unnecessary bonus, on trend. I found the cargo pants I had been searching for, for months at Levi’s but they have since been put on clearance (and subsequently, became low in stock), but that’s not to say you can’t find a good cargo pant in most places right now: this pair looks idyllic.

Outfit 2: CashSoft Relaxed Hoodie + J.Crew Corduroy Drawstring Pants

When I got this bright-hued corduroy from J.Crew I was hesitant about how many things I could wear them with…as it turns out, a lot more than I would have ever expected. This hoodie couldn’t BE a better pairing!

Outfit 3: CashSoft Relaxed Hoodie + Camo Barrel Pants

When in doubt, pair a top with camo pants. I have yet to see something I don’t love worn with camo pants, lol.
