There are a handful of staple pieces in my closet that I reach for on repeat, not because they’re trendy, but because they work.
Gap’s Easy Wide-Leg Pants are one of those rare finds.
They’re lightweight, comfortable, and impressively wrinkle resistant (not perfectly pressed, but far better than most trousers), which makes them ideal for real life: school drop-off, workdays, travel, and everything in between.
They come in multiple inseams and colors (a huge win if you’re tall), and they’ve quietly earned a reputation as an excellent alternative to The Row’s Gala Pant (at a fraction of the price!) and even more affordable than similar viral styles from Aritzia. They’ve been notoriously hard to get your hands on thanks to constant sell-outs, but good news: Gap just did a full restock, and now is the time to grab them.
Why I Keep Reaching for Gap’s Easy Wide-Leg Pants
What sets the Gap Easy Wide-Leg Pants apart is that they actually solve real wardrobe problems for busy women.
First, the fabric is surprisingly lightweight without feeling flimsy. At first glance they appear like polished trousers, but they wear a lot more like your comfiest wide-leg linen pants with a touch more structure. The fabric holds its shape in a way that makes you look put-together without daily ironing or dry cleaning, but they work just as fantastic (and so chic) with a tee and flip flops.

They’re honestly some of the most comfortable pants I’ve ever owned: the cut skims without clinging, the wide leg creates movement, and the waistband sits at a flattering height that doesn’t pinch or gape. Actually, the waistband can easily transition from a high waist to low waist thanks to a very discreet yet useful drawstring tucked on the inside.

Whether you’re running errands, sitting at your desk, or boarding a flight, these feel intentional and relaxed at the same time.
And then there’s the price point. Compared to The Row’s Gala Pant (a beautiful piece but a major investment) or even the viral Aritzia wide-leg trousers (which can be hit or miss on comfort and fit), the Gap pair hits a sweet spot. They manage to feel elevated and approachable. Plus, with multiple inseam options and colors, you’re more likely to find a version that actually works for your height and lifestyle.
Finding Your Best Fit
A few things I want you to know before you click Add to Cart:
pants (M Tall)
- Fit: These run true to size, but because they’re designed with a relaxed, wide silhouette, sizing down is an easy option if you prefer a slightly more tailored look in the waist or hips. If you’re between sizes, think about how you like wide-leg pants to drape on you: more casual = stick with your normal size; more structured = consider sizing down.
- Inseams Matter: One of the best parts of this style is that Gap offers multiple inseams. I’m tall and opted for the longest inseam so that the pants hit at a dramatic, floor-skimming length that even The Row advertises with their pair, however, they’re honestly too long for me if I didn’t want that drapey fit. For a length that wears easily with flats and sneakers without touching the ground, the regular inseam would have worked for me (I’m 5’10”)! This gives a lot of leeway for women even quite a bit taller than me.
- Waistband: The rise sits at a comfortable mid-point, but thanks to the easy nature of the fabric and super comfy elastic waist + functional drawstring, you can rock them low rise like the models or hike them up quite high (as I sometimes do with my longer inseam).
- Shrinkage: These pants are pretty stable in the wash, and while an initial downside for some can be that these pants are not made with natural materials, the upside is I can safely throw them in the wash and dryer and they’re highly resistant to wrinkles.
- Styling Tip: Because of the generous wide leg, shoes do change the vibe. Sneakers give you a casual, everyday look, while loafers or heels instantly elevate the outfit. They’re an ideal trouser for those that don’t typically enjoy, uh, trousers, ha!

Amy
