My Favorite Jeans Just Got Even Better: Good American’s Palazzo Upgrade

There is nothing—nothing—like a pair of jeans that fits just right. I’ve got two pairs that never fail me: Veronica Beard’s Beverly High-Rise Skinny Flares and Good American’s Good Waist Palazzos. They’re high-rise, curve-hugging, leg-lengthening, and yes—flattering. (I know we’re not supposed to use that word, but honestly? These jeans fit like they were made for my body. They hug curves, smooth without squeezing, don’t gap at the waist, and somehow make my 5’4” frame look taller. So yeah…they’re flattering.)

I didn’t think either pair could get any better—but Good American just proved me wrong.

Their latest version of the Palazzo jeans is part of the Soft Tech Collection, and they took everything I loved about the original and made them softer, stretchier, and even more comfortable. I’m obsessed.

Fit-wise, these jeans have a 33.5” inseam—which is definitely long on me (I’m 5’4”), but I actually love them with heels (like these platform sandals!). The extra length gives that whole legs-for-days effect, especially with the dramatic wide leg. The wash I’m wearing here is a deep indigo that’s not only super flattering (there’s that word again), but also shockingly soft (dare I say silky even?). Sometimes darker washes can feel stiff or overly structured, but not these. The fabric is lightweight, and breathable enough to wear even in the summer heat. Honestly, they feel more like loungewear than denim…in the best way.

The best part of the fit is the higher rise (10.75″)—it defines the waist without squeezing or gaping. It’s high enough to wear with crop tops without showing belly (yay!), and it hugs curves just right. The cut through the hips and bum is super well done: these jeans fit over a fuller booty without flattening, pulling, or creating weird lines—and somehow they even enhance the shape.

One of my favorite things about these jeans is how insanely leg-lengthening they are. The high rise hits at just the right spot to define the waist and create a streamlined silhouette, which makes them the perfect match for all the crop tops that seem to be everywhere right now. I’ve got a softer mom belly, and midriff-baring looks aren’t really my thing these days—but this combo lets me kind of lean into the trend without feeling overexposed. It’s the best of both worlds: on-trend and comfortable.

Which brings me to this Reformation top. I love everything about it: the lightweight linen, the subtle (non-tacky) floral print, and the overall fit. It’s soft, breezy, and feels easy to wear—but what really sets it apart is the layered design. The extra structure helps it drape just right (no awkward bunching or clinging like with some cheaper linen), but it’s still cool and breathable for summer. (Also—how did I miss the matching skort? Definitely need to try that next!)

I sized up to a medium since Reformation tops usually run small on me, and I’m glad I did—a small would’ve been too tight across the bust. The square neckline is a fun touch, and it’s a great option for days when I want to skip cleavage altogether. (And of course, we love that Reformation pieces are made with sustainability in mind!)

Of course, I’m always on the hunt for comfortable platforms to wear with longer jeans—and ordering online is usually a gamble. I was a little nervous these woven sandals might be stiff or rub uncomfortably, but the braided leather is surprisingly soft and pliable right out of the box. I also love the wraparound ankle strap—it does have a buckle, but you don’t have to mess with it every time. Easy on, easy off.

The heel-to-platform ratio makes them feel more like a 2-inch heel—super walkable. I went with this rich camel brown, but they also come in a lighter beige and classic black. LOVE these, you guys.

And speaking of LOVE…this bag.

I first invested in the larger size back in 2023 and wore it constantly. I’d been searching for something just like it but slightly smaller—same vibe, just a bit more compact—but I could never find exactly what I was looking for. I finally broke down and grabbed the smaller version of the same bag…and I’m so glad I did. It’s exactly what I needed, and now I have both sizes to rotate depending on the day (or how much I need to carry).

At the end of the day, it’s really all about these Good American jeans. They’re the kind of denim that makes an outfit—flattering, leg-lengthening, and just ridiculously comfortable. The fact that they pair so easily with pieces I already love (like this breezy linen top, walkable platforms, and my go-to bag) is just a bonus. If you’ve been searching for the perfect wide-leg jeans that actually fit and feels good…these.

XOXO,

Scotti
