People are forming lasting, meaningful relationships via Zoom, true story — read it here. Welcome to Quarantine 2020 and doing all the things just a little differently! Like these fun long-distance-bondage bracelets! (Yes, I just said that — note the sarcasm).
But in all seriousness, I’m feeling very Why not? about the whole thing: It’s 2020 — F*ck it. Let’s Do This!
So. What do we gift people we love dearly, from a healthy distance*? Here’s a starter set for a bunch of things I think would be fun to send (or receive). (And YES: while my focus here is on couples, many of these gifts would be perfect for grandparents, too. Just the, um, tone would be different.)
* “From a healthy distance” could also just mean that one of you is all the way upstairs, and the other is all the way downstairs — for all you marrieds, living in quarantine-bliss, together, and needing to reignite the love and reconnect. Just pretend you are long distance lovers to spice it up a lil bit. Again…it’s Quarantine 2020 and why the f*ck not?

1 | F*ck It. Let’s Do This Workbook
Get creative and write your own unique couples adventures with this gorgeous new bucket list planner. Plan once-in-a-lifetime events, create memorable couples’ moments, organize and maintain shared goals-we aren’t going to be in quarantine forever!
2 | Letters To My Love
Oprah loves this, why wouldn’t we? The tag line is: Write now. Read later. Treasure forever. In truth, is there anything more romantic than a handwritten love letter? Twelve, fold-and-mail letters to be opened in the future. Like a little time capsule!
3 | Life Would Succ Without You
Ceramic with a fun message + succulent for life! We all need a little fun and a little green right about now!
4 | Heart Box
“Send heartfelt messages to loved ones—anytime, anywhere in the world—with this modern take on the classic love note. When you send a new message through the easy-to-use app, the chunky heart on the bamboo box spins to alert the recipient. Then, the object of your affection opens the box to read the sentiment on the mirrored screen inside. (The Black & White Lovebox can display emojis along with its messages; the Color Pix version can handle photos.) Once they see your missive, they can return the virtual embrace by spinning the heart to send a shower of digital hearts to the sender’s screen.” Uncommon Goods — Mind blown in the form of a LOVE BOX!!!
5 | Expansion Photo Box
Some assembly, in a fun way, required! The exploding box comes fully assembled, just add photos and maybe a little gift! (Would also make a really cute gift for Grandparents!)
6 | Home Alone Book
This one is for those who have a sense of humor, and appreciate a great artist who also has one too. “Embarking upon self-isolation at the outset of the Coronavirus pandemic, German artist Max Siedentopf turned his own home upside down and captured the results with his camera. He piled cans into sculptural towers, stitched together haute-couture clothes, crafted monsters and traps and invented crazy alternatives to toilet paper. He also posted all of his actions on Instagram and invited followers around the world to copy his various mottos. This handy survival guide casts a fun, humorous light on the business of getting by while home alone.” Amazon — Home Alone 2020…just got funnier than you can imagine!
7 | What I Love About Us Book
A little book with fill-in-the-blank lines to do with as you wish for a unique-to-just-the-two-of-you-gift! Speak from your heart with love, be a little silly, or get frisky…it’s up to you to fill those blank pages!
8 | Hand Cream
Hands-down the BEST hand cream ever!!! You with me? We all need softer hands when we eventually touch — after scrubbing, washing, and sanitizing them, of course.
9 | Bearaby Weighted Blankets — At Bearaby – At West Elm
There is magic healing in the exercise of resting under a weighted blanket! This is the best way I can think of to send a distance hug or cuddle!
10 | Bondage 2020 Style
“They say distance makes the heart grow fonder…Whether you’re often miles apart or just spending the day in different locations, these waterproof silicone bracelets can keep you feeling close. Download the app that connects the set and tap your bracelet to send a Bond TouchTM to your loved one. Theirs will light up and vibrate, so they’ll know you’re thinking about them. Want to send an extra-special note? You can send up to 10 taps in one message, making it easy to incorporate unique rhythms or create your own secret code.” Uncommon Goods — Friends, I’m genuinely not sure what more I can say here other than we ALL need to do this! Sometimes, the greatest gift, is just remembering to take time each day to be grateful for one another. Love is simple, sometimes.
Here’s to doing things a little differently and expanding our safe reach 2020!
