Getting outside is a way of life for my little family. If we don’t get regular time on the trails, we all start to get a little…fussy

Being outdoors is such a deep part of both my husband’s and my own DNA, that pretty much all of our holiday gifts to each other consist of gear or accessories that make our adventures warmer, more comfortable, or — you know — even a little bit cuter.

Gifts For The Outdoor Adventurer In Your Life

As I was hunting for some cozy gifts, I was inspired to put together a little roundup of all my favorite items over at Backcountry, including cozy thermal boots, the cutest fleece bag, and the thermos everyone on your list will appreciate. While all of these pieces would be perfect for the outdoor lover on your list, I think they would be so great for anyone (even you if you’re looking to treat yourself!)

01. The Cute and Practical Gift For Layering: Plaid Shirt Jacket

My favorite place to start over on Backcountry is their own in-house brand called Basin and Range. They not only make my new favorite jeans, but their shirt jackets are so good. Everything in their line is cute and practical, which is the best combination of all (not to mention great when gifting)!

The shirt jackets run oversized, but in the perfect comfy “day-off” sort of way. I’ve been wearing this plaid one on repeat, but they also have a sherpa version that looks so good and cozy.

Good base layers are key to staying warm, which is especially needed when adventuring along our lake right now. This long sleeve turtleneck is exceptional. It’s incredibly soft and stretchy, and the best part is the neckline, which doesn’t allow any cold air to sneak in. This top is my trick to staying warm without always having to reach for the heavy winter jackets. Throw it on with a shirt jacket, and you’re good to go.

Fit Notes: I suggest sizing down in the Basin and Range shirt jackets, I’m normally a medium but wearing the XS/S. Wearing my normal sizes in the jeans (28), boots (10), and turtleneck base layer (m).

02. The Gift That Never Fails: Cozy Sweaters

Cozy sweaters are always a good gift idea, too. In fact, some of my favorite items gifted to me over the years were oversized luxe sweaters. I love how this one is a chunky knit, making it the ideal layer to grab even when you’re just cuddled up next to the fireplace.

03. That Gift For Your Special Someone: Blundstone Thermal Boots

If you’re looking for an extra special item for someone on your gift list (even if that’s yourself), these thermal boots are it. I’ve been wearing Blundstone boots for years, and this thermal pair really raised the bar. They have been perfect for our cold morning walks, and since I was already wearing the regular Blundstones through winter, I know these thermal ones will be even better (I grabbed a men’s pair to gift to my husband, too).

On top of the warm insulation, there’s also a cozy sheepskin footbed that is absolutely dreamy. Pull on the boots with these socks (a personal favorite for both myself and for gifting to others,) and thank me later.

04. The Perfect Gift Duo: YETI Mugs & Gigi Pip Beanie

Backcountry carries another one of my favorites, the hat line Gigi Pip (they even did an exclusive collab with Basin and Range). If you’ve ever seen me rock a brimmed hat it’s probably a Gigi Pip hat, but they also make the warmest beanies.

Bundle a Gigi Pip beanie and a YETI mug together and you’ve just hit the gift jackpot (but for real, these mugs are worth the hype, not even my wild toddler can bang it up…plus it’s perfect for taking along on walks). This would be a great duo for a gift exchange, too!

05. A Unique Gift: Kavu Rope Fleece Sling

For something a bit more unique, Kavu recently came out with a fleece line of their famous bags (I squealed immediately upon seeing them). This shoulder bag is amazing! the generous size makes it easy for throwing in diapers and wipes, but it doesn’t feel big while wearing it.

If you’re looking for something smaller, they also made a mini version (and the pixie pouch is adorbs, too). I love how fleece can make something incredibly practical look like a cozy fashion accessory. I mean, that’s the dream!
