Are you still looking for an easy holiday work party outfit? Or perhaps searching for a comfortable New Year’s Eve dress? I’ve raved about the Quince silk slip dress and how I pair it with a faux-fur jacket to make it cozy and fun. And because it’s so cozy and fun, I’m sharing some additional color combinations and ways to re-create this look.

My Holiday Party Outfit Is A Slip Dress + Faux-Fur Jacket

What I love about this outfit is it can go well beyond the holidays — you’re not just investing in a once-a-year piece. Slip dresses are key for a well-rounded closet. They can be dressed up with faux fur and lots of jewelry or, they can be dressed down with a fitted tee and sneakers. In warmer weather, they’re easy to pair with sandals.

A slip dress + faux-fur jacket pairing works for both a holiday work party outfit & as a New Year's Eve dress. These color combos make dressing it up easier.

Color Combos For A Silk & Faux-Fur Outfit

This silk dress from Quince is so lovely that I wanted to assemble some additional color combinations pairing each of the six available shades with different faux-fur jackets. It’s a sexy, cozy, and honestly, a very easy look to put together, no matter which shade of dress you choose. And color combos are my favorite thing to get into. So, let’s go!

Quince Dress in 1 black | 2 caramel | 3 emerald | 4 taupe | 5 red | 6 navy

These are my personal favorites for color combos. You could also try a monochromatic pairing for a really chic look. I’d still go for a jacket that is a slightly darker or lighter tone than the dress, instead of matching exactly. It gives more depth to the pairing and shows off the contrasting luxe textures of silk and faux fur.

And as much as I typically love an all-black outfit, I think that here it’s just not that interesting. You could go all-black with the dress and shoes, but choose a soft neutral or fun shade of color for the jacket.

As much as I love the Quince dress, after playing with the colors above I couldn’t help but round up some of the color options out there because there are some gorgeous shades! For the bright colors, I would stick to a neutral faux-fur jacket.

What Shoes To Wear With Slip Dress?

This was the tricky part for me! I ended up going with brown-heeled boots in crocodile-embossed leather. The gorgeous chocolate color is my favorite. I tried a slingback heel in a dark red — it was pretty cute, but not as ‘me.’ I’ve rounded up a few other shoe options that would work. The trick is to limit the number of colors you got going on. It’s easier to come up with a balanced combo if your boot/shoe is either close to your skin tone or matches the dress color.

In my case, I had neither. But because chocolate brown is both a warm tone like the camel coat and a dark shade like the navy dress, it works. Gold or silver will also be your friend here to keep it easy. Metallic shoes will read more like accessories than visually contrasting shoes or boot colors. I’ve tried to give a range here of options that I hope are helpful!
