Pleated midi skirts are everywhere right now, but I’ve been reluctant to try them because I honestly wasn’t sure how to style them for my body shape. Then I saw them featured in Harper’s Bazaar and loved their style suggestions. So, when Lord + Taylor asked us to try some of their fall clothes for their Biggest Sale of the Season where you can get up to extra 40% off, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on these skirts to try them out. Spoiler alert: these skirts are so fun to wear. Here’s how I styled them:
Chic & Dramatic: Pleated Midi Skirts
Pleated Skirt: Go Monochrome
I’ve always loved the idea of wearing colors in a monochromatic way. I mean, all black all day was pretty much my wardrobe once upon a time but going with a gorgeous color like this emerald green is fun and festive (and pretty much perfect for upcoming holiday parties). The second I saw this skirt had a matching colored sweater (with such fun sleeves) I was sold. Add green eyeshadow and pumps for a party-ready look.

sweater: 1.State Knit Cotton-Blend Sweater
skirt: 1.State Pleated Satin Midi Skirt
shoes: Louise Et Cie Kaiyla Ankle-Strap Leather Pumps (also in gold and a pretty light purple)
Pleated Skirt: Try a Belt
The other look I was excited to try was a wide belt tied over an otherwise monochromatic outfit to emphasize the waist. This particular belt is kind of perfect for that because not only are there a bunch of different ways to actually tie it, but you can tie it to the exact perfect tightness you need. I think it went perfectly with the slight sheen of the skirt (which looks like faux leather, but is actually super-lightweight and comfy). I think this is a great work option.

turtleneck: Lord & Taylor Turtleneck Merino Wool Sweater – (s), this runs tts
skirt: Only Pleated Maxi Skirt – this runs a bit small, I can usually size down for high-waisted skirts and pants but the small was too small so I should have stuck to my usual medium (size 6/28). Also, in a pretty taupe color.
shoes: Louise Et Cie Kaiyla Ankle-Strap Leather Pumps (also in gold and a pretty light purple)
belt: Ada Leather Wrap Belt – I love that you can tie this in a number of ways and that it can be as loose or as tight as you need it!
earrings: Noir Goldtone Leaf Drop Earrings – in a ton of colors, I love these lightweight earrings!

A huge thank you to Lord + Taylor and ShopStyle for sponsoring this post! I’ve been wanting to try these L+T faves for a while and I’m glad I finally did because I love them! And to you, readers, thank you so much for your support. It is so very much appreciated and does not go unnoticed!
Great post! I discovered an unexpected match in a monocrome hoodie and maxi skirt pairing. My skirt also has thigh-high slits, so I wore it with faux leather leggings. Overall – long skirt and big sweater makes for an unexpected silhouette that feels very fresh!
Oooo…I LOVE this idea!!
Love that belt! Would love to see how that could be styled with other things. For the price would like it to be more than a one hit wonder.
Great belt! Would love to see it styled in different ways
I like the green outfit!
