Hi folks! I feel like the last one here to finallllly chime in with my Black Friday Wish List, even though I’ve been sitting on some of these items for a bit. BUT. The silver lining to procrastinating, in this instance? Most of my picks are already on sale — and at prices that I’m going to say are probably pretty on par with Black Friday deals, minus all the manic. And with the weird friggin’ year we’ve had, I could do with some calm, meditative, manic-free shopping.
Em’s Black Friday Sale Edit: Neutral, Cozy Investment Pieces For Wardrobe & Home
So without further ado, here are the top 22 things I’m eyeing during this seasonal sales period, including a few things I’ve, ahem, already snagged for myself thanks to those aforementioned early Black Friday sales. (This and this, to start. Oh, and this. It’s just too good!) The undercurrent here? Neutral, cozy — and going back to the theme that I was plugging pretty hard at the verrrrry beginning of all this pandemic hullabaloo: nothing you’ll regret post-lockdown.
(Pssst…when you’re done shopping here, head back to our Black Friday & Cyber Monday hub for our dressing room selfies, editor top picks & the best retailer sales.)

ALLSAINTS leather jackets offer so much bang for the buck. They’re not on the CRAZY high-end, pricewise, but they’re an investment. But they break in well, wear well and the styles are always classic with a twist. Like the quilting details on this one! And it’s already 30% off as we speak. I size up one in ALLSAINTS leather.
Pretty sure Shana and I snapped this set up on the same day — it’s exactly the kind of thing I want to wear for gift wrapping — just add Home Alone and a hot toddy. Already on sale for $33 apiece at time of publishing, so it’s more of a wish come true than anything.
Love the perpendicular ribbing on this that makes it look like a two piece set but with the ease of a dress. Just the pop of color this drab year needs. Oh, but wait. Also in easy heather gray…and what about that blush-y coral? Love.
Been on the hunt for a few hoodies to layer under my leather jacket — one of my favorite looks of all time — and the leopard on this is classic, tasteful and well-proportioned.
I’ve had good luck with AGOLDE jeans — I know the slimmer styles can be kinda hard to size — but these seem a bit more foolproof in fit, and they genuinely look like The Perfect Pair of Vintage Jeans. Sustainable, too.
Ok, ok — I confess: this one is already on its way to me, too. It didn’t quite make it into my Down Sweater post, and then when I brought it up, a reader chimed in with a stellar review, and now I’ve convinced myself I need a putty jacket to go with my putty-ish sweatsuit. Obviously. Plus, removable hood. Plus, packable. Plus, it’s already part of Abercrombie’s 40% off sale, so…
FREAKING GORGEOUS. In the black — so lovely. But in the dark green? Well hey, that’s interesting, too. And — yes, you guessed it, already on sale.
9. Floral Maxi
Do yourself the favor of clicking through to fully take in the beauty that is this dress from all angles. It’s downright stunning. And it would be so easy to style almost year-round, at home or out in the real world. I don’t say this lightly, but in the words of Stephenie Meyer, I am unconditionally and irrevocably in love.
I admittedly know nothing about the quality of this mask — I tend to seek out triple layer masks when I’m truly in settings with other people, and the construction of this one isn’t specified. BUT for walking to our Bubble Friends’ house or for well-distanced park sessions, this sure is a cute little set that would make mask-wearing feel more like an intentional fashion move than an afterthought. Also in black.
Oh, now this is a sweater dress I can get behind. Softly draped, not too clingy. Cashmere! Everlane doesn’t run sales in the typical manner, but sometimes they’ll do a choose what you pay program, and I would be only too happy if they decided to include this guy even though, par for the Everlane course, it’s pretty fairly priced already.
12. Frye Boots
I’ve already got these, so I’m putting ’em on the Wish List for you, friends. I rarely share these on the blog because they’ve been near impossible to find for the past two years — and then, suddenly, this year: back in stock! It’s like 2020 is trying to give us something to cling on to. These are, quite simply, the most versatile boots I own. They tend to get mixed reviews, and I’m convinced it’s because of the snug vamp. My usual 8 was literally impossible to get on, but sizing up half solved everything. They’re the epitome of not overly trendy, not trying too hard, easygoing (is that the same as not trying too hard?), exceptionally comfy — and yet they still somehow have a bit of a cool girl vibe. They look posh with skinnies or leggings, boho with dresses, totally classic with bootcut jeans or flares, and downright hip with boyfriend or mom jeans. With the colorblock loungewear set up there for morning coffee porch hangs? Perfection. We can only hope they go on sale eventually, but if they don’t, Frye’s current Black Friday offerings are here, and if you scroll all the way down to the bottom and sign up for email, you’ll get $50 off a purchase of $250+ — better than nothing.
Fully blaming S for these. It’s the damn picture of her sitting on the steps wearing these and the black skinnies that got me. I CANNOT STOP THINKING ABOUT THEM. They’d fill just about the only boot hole I have in my wardrobe — something between a combat boot and a chelsea boot. Crossing my fingers real hard on this one.
So…I kinda already bought this, too. I couldn’t help it! It was sitting on my Wish List, and then I went to double check some details and it was *magically on sale* FOR $36 (!!) and just very clearly meant to be. And friends — it arrived today, and this thing is GORGEOUS. So much texture, handcrafted by Fair Trade artisans, and the colors are saturated without being cheesy. And it’s huge. Statement pillow, for sure. As someone who has a bit of a Pricey Pillow Problem, I would expect to pay three times as much for a pillow that is this substantial in craftsmanship and size. Even the full price ($45) is a steal. Yes, you’ll need a pillow insert, so now we’re talking $54 out the door. Don’t think, just do it.
Team favorite (I’ve extolled the virtues of all my Colleen Rothschild picks at length here) — and if you haven’t tried it, it shakes up the face cleansing routine in such a pleasant way. Like a little spa ritual every evening, and you better believe it gets off ALL the eye makeup. Stocking up now while their unprecedented site-wide Black Friday sale is on: 30% off everything with code BF2020.
This would be such a fun family gift: an easy way to get photos off the phone, and it prints on sticky paper, so they can easily be scrapbooked. Lana would love using it to print off her tablet drawings, and I could see us affordably framing a big piece of tagboard and letting her collage it with photos and drawings to her heart’s content. Doesn’t hurt that it’s super-compact and actually nice to look at, too, so it can sit out on a desk or counter somewhere without screaming PRINTER.
17. Basik Candle
I mentioned this in our Holidays At Home guide (newsletter subscriber exclusive) because it’s the most-commonly burned candle in our house. We have one in almost every room. I love the Grapefruit and Mangosteen (fruity but not sweet), and the Teakwood and Leather is earthy and masculine without smelling like cologne. The Blood Orange and Bergamot feels perfectly wintry, too. Just really well-balanced fragrances, and on sale with free shipping. Stocking up for myself and gifts.
18. Always Pan
First things first: this is currently on sale for $95 (usually $145) with code SUPERSALE. I’ve seen this thing all over the web (my full review will be coming soon!), so I have a feeling stock is gonna go fast. Laura’s already given it a test run and said it delivers in performance and design. It’s non-toxic, too — and super versatile. Loving the terra cotta look of the Spice color. And they make dishware, too! Everything’s got an earthenware vibe at a super-reasonable price. (You can even buy the pan and the dishware bundled here for a deal, too.)
19. Staub Rice Pot
My beloved rice cooker finally bit the dust after 18 years of use, so as of late I’ve been *gulp* making rice on the stove. I’m apprehensive literally every time I light the burner — and even though it always turns out fine, this gorgeous little pot (that could obviously be used for other things, as well) would bring so much joy to the process. Aaaand I just checked the site, and now it, too, is on sale. This waiting until the last-min game is really paying off for us.
Still making use of our newly re-landscaped backyard almost every day — and still haven’t pulled the trigger on a dedicated set of of outdoor dining dishware. This is the set I’ve been most closely eyeing. Clean lines, hand-thrown look, stacks up nicely. It just went to clearance, so stock is quickly running out. But these also have a super-similar aesthetic, and the colors are so good. MAKE A DECISION, EMILY.
Remember when I fell in love with all of L.L. Bean’s totally nostalgic, high-quality flannel earlier this week? I also stumbled across this cozy number, and now it’s all I want to wear when I get up in the morning. Preferably over this stunning washable silk PJ set that feels so glamorous and Old Hollywood — and yet still “in-laws-around-the-house” appropriate. (Chris, are you taking note? jk, he doesn’t read these…)
22. Floor Mirror
I shattered my full-length mirror a couple of months ago (assuming that 2020 counts for all seven years’ bad luck, right?), and I’ve been taking my time finding a new one. (Mirrors, as it turns out, are really freaking expensive.) This one is oversized without being ridiculously so, and the design is neutral enough that it would work in most of our rooms in case I need to move it around. On sale as we speak, but still an investment.
Happy shopping, friends. Don’t forget to head back over to our Black Friday & Cyber Monday hub for more. Get out there and seize summa that Early Black Friday action! 😉
