Black and White are my first true loves, and I have a longtime love affair with all the Shades of Grey, but I do also appreciate a pop of color here and there. Sometimes it’s an accent wall, kitchen cabinets, a door, or the room that can handle intense color, or all the cute home decor accessories. Especially on a black, white and grey base, does color pop and make a really nice impact!
A Hint Of Green: How To Complement Aegean Teal, Benjamin Moore Paint Color Of The Year 2021
Each year Benjamin Moore chooses a color and associated palette of the year. This year, 2021, that color is Aegean Teal, and it’s beautifully calm. Hopefully 2021 will be too.

While I personally prefer teal to be more intense than this soft shade of blue/green/grey, it is in fact an aptly named, soothing color, against which, guess what works really well? Deeper teal accents! So here are a few of those that I love, that would partner well with Aegean Teal paint anywhere you splash it — and I’d splash it anywhere you’d like to feel a little more calm just to start projecting that feeling all around us.

1 | Nelson Ball Clock
A modern classic with a pop of teal and all the colors that complement it! This is an original. If one of these isn’t in the budget, you can get the look with this reproduction.
2 | Classic Cashmere Throw
While pricey, they last forever, can also be fashionably worn out of the house as a wrap, AND…are so, so, so very soft! What a luxurious gift for someone who appreciates such things, hint, hint. And a great way to layer the calm of Aegean Teal.
3 | Linen Napkins
With the holidays on the horizon, now’s a great time to freshen up the linen napkin supply. Though who really needs a holiday? We use linen napkins every day, they make us feel like meals are more special, and especially right now, it’s the little things we need creating that feeling at home!
4 | Teal & Brass Pendant
What an absolutely stunning fixture!!! Can’t get enough of this one and am currently considering so, so many locations for it! Obviously in a kitchen, but would also be a lovely alternative to a nightstand table lamp by the bed and as an eye-catching statement in a powder room. Love this shade of teal with brass accent combo.
5 | Placemats For Fun
In addition to linen napkins, we also always use placemats and love collecting easy to wipe fun colors and shapes. They define everyone’s space a bit more if you have a brood of kids who can’t seem to keep their elbows in their own space and out of each others’ ribs. And they help protect the table and counter. Oh, and they are pretty and fun!
6 | Pair of Table Lamps
How pretty are these? And they can lean to traditional just as easily, as they are also a fun pop of modern. The white shades help set them off. They come as a set to help balance a space and a budget. Sometimes just switching out the table lamps can make all the difference in a room!
7 | Linen + Velvet Throw Pillow
This bold striped beauty would layer so well with a few velvet or linen solids depending on which direction you’d like to go! Insert is included.
8 | Indoor Table Top Planters
Mid-Century perfection, teal ceramic pots and wood bases are the perfect way to add a little life to a console or maybe even to your work from home desk so that you can see green all through this next season! Bring the green indoors to help get through winter with a happier mood!
9 | Channeled Teal Velvet Throw Pillow
This might be my current favorite velvet throw pillow! It comes in an array of great colors including this one, and the channeling and layering are just extra enough luxury to be a gorgeous detail!
10 | Le Creuset Round Dutch Oven
This remains, my favorite way to make all the soups, stews and other yummy meals that take hours to cook and taste even better when you let them sit overnight. The ones that make the whole house smell delicious for hours on end. The pots clean super-easily, and they are also beautiful to serve in. I appreciate that the Instant Pot is a thing, but I’m old-school, I like these less insta, more forever alternatives for soups and stews. And while we’re not going anywhere, anyway, we may as well watch the pretty pot sit and cook.
11 | Walnut & Teal Credenza
Walnut + teal + brass is the perfect combo in this clean Danish-inspired storage piece. The doors slide, there are shelves inside, and the perfectly tapered legs are self-leveling. Great by an entry, for extra storage in a dining room, or as a media console.
12 | Upholstered Stool
Wooden legs with a brass kick plate, and a velvet seat and back are the perfect mix of materials to keep this stool clean-lined yet special. That cut-out in the back is perfection!
13 | Art Prints That Pop
This set makes me smile every time I see it! It’s layered and has that nice 3D element that helps it pop off the wall, though those color combos can do that on their own! And they all include a teal, at least.
14 | Teal Velvet Desk Chair
Adjustable height, generous tufted back, and a beautiful example of how well teal velvet and brass complement one another. Work from home just got better looking with this beauty. I would simply explain to the home team that mom is just going to sit here and look pretty all day—that’s all.
15 | Knot Pouf
These velvet knot poufs are just absolutely gorgeous, and are also super-comfortable. The luxe velvet and shape are held in place by hand-turned wooden rings that also help to set off the full impact of the color! They are a beautiful way to add some texture and depth, and a little fun to your space!
Here’s to teal, and all the shades of blue, green and grey that calm you and make you happy, and all the fun ways to pop them into the mix!

A

Oh, hey, Pinners, this one’s for you…

While I could easily only wear black clothing for the rest of my life, my house has ALL THE COLORS. There are no white or gray or neutral rooms in it. There are currently 6 rolls of teal and gold wallpaper waiting to be hung and that desk chair is perfect for that room! I love so many of these suggestions. The colors are so good! Love it all!
ER: Crazy Lady!!!! send a pic of that wallpaper STAT. And love you and all your colors more! xoxo A
