In addition to all the early Black Friday Sales, we see Phenomenal Humans everywhere we look in our lives, and yes that link will take you to a sweatshirt to help celebrate them! Shana recently gifted me my current favorite book, Humans, which will remain so until I grab 250 Years Of Struggle And Song for myself and plop down under a weighted velvet blanket, in front of an outside fire (check-out our latest post on fire pits), and count my blessings for being alive, human, with my kids, and able to feel the cold and heat both at the same time.
Covid Diaries Week 2: Repeat Week 1 (because we’re lucky). Which means…keep the adult anxiety in check. Do all the doable things, or at least one of them, per day. Remain in quarantine. Accept all the distanced help, from all the friends, daily, with gratitude. The end.
Or…almost ‘the end’. I don’t ever OOTD (outfit of the day), however, my friend LBR just gifted me a custom tee that reads House Of Covid on the front and FU2020 on the back, and, well…you might just see my debut OOTD on social real soon.
Weekly Favorite Finds: Phenomenal Humans, Things To Do At Home & Early Black Friday Sales
Thanksgiving is happening, just different. Philly (at least) has some newly refreshed rules. Black Friday, totally happening — in fact, it’s happening now, sales below. Hanukkah is happening (same, but different), so keep your eyes open for that post soon. Prepping for all that and more, as best we can, as humans.
Weekly Favorite Finds — with all of reality nicely bubble wrapped in escapism — on my mind, a Black-owned business spotlight to love for your reading pleasure, and my favorite weekend sales below (hint — there’s a chair named Ronaldo, and I’m obsessed).
It’s neutral + red, graphic, reasonably priced, + a positive message. Gift alert as I channel my best Oprah right now: You get a sweatshirt, and you get a sweatshirt….
My favorite thing I found this week! I respect everything about this company, and I love their shoes — on other people. Now that they’ve tip-toed into clothing though, I’m in. This t-shirt is sustainably made of magic fabric (it involves crab shells), is super-soft, has a great fit, and repels odor!
S gifted me this for my birthday, and I LOVE it! I deep dive the Humans Of New York Instagram when I must, and it’s always worth it, but YES, I prefer Brian Stanton’s photography and storytelling in book for, on my own coffee table, in my own home! Can’t wait to curl up with it soon!
I thought I was obsessed the the cotton napper, and then I learned that the napper also comes in velvet, and now I’m even more obsessed. These are a splurge and yes: worth it.
Air-fried food is delicious and can be super-healthful…and the kids can manage that and a toaster oven entirely on their own. Favorite kitchen tool of the moment (and favorite producer of sweet potato fries — delicious!). Also, if you are considering as a gift, and worried about the What If They Don’t Love Frying factor…it’s also a toaster oven, so will absolutely get used in most kitchens, regularly.
I’m not sure where I think we’re going to need portable containers, but I am always on the hunt for great ones and am planning to stock up on these…in hope. For now, we’ll just use them at home, because, seriously, how amazing are they? W&P Porter Seal Tight Glass, with lids, leak & spill proof, microwave and dishwasher safe, BPA-Free Glass — total amazingness!!!
An easy way to avoid disagreements among kids? These dice. Roll ’em and get suggestions — perfect for when you all feel like you’re in a fog and can’t get it together to just…do something. These are in my stocking-stuffers cart.
My friend KD gifted me this, and all the stuff that makes it real for my birthday! Grace, my youngest, and I put it together. It’s beautiful and was a fun, fresh, do-something gift! I LOVE IT!
I’m getting these for Mama Pat, my neighbor, as a tease. She’s always sneaking over and clipping herbs — and THEN she bangs on the glass door, herbs in hand, to say, “Hi!”. I love her more for her sneak and her always warm hello…but somehow I think part of the fun, for her, is the sneak. So we just laugh every thyme she gets caught! 😉
I’m not over this guy yet. He’s strikingly similar to the one on my patio, and I just love his shape and size. These are great for burning wood chips in small spaces!
I might be moving furniture around in my own home all weekend to figure out where I can fit this guy (his name is Todd btw)…somewhere is the answer. He’s where I’d like to curl up and read my Humans book when I relocate indoors from the patio.
Brass + Matte Green Beauty! Also comes in white. 5 drawers, well made, great for storage, even better for a pop of beautiful, but in a functional way! For more ideas on working this gorg shade into your decor, go here.

Of Struggle and Song — Even just that short phrase, with those two words paired, taps my mind and tugs my heart. WishList it, GiftList it, SelfCare it into your own cart — call it what you will, this, no doubt, is a beautiful and necessary collection.
