If you’ve been reading the blog for any length of time, you’ve probably seen Halogen’s Cashmere Turtleneck before. (In fact, S just did a search for the absolute best black cashmere turtleneck sweater, and it was the winner.) It’s SO soft, comes in many different colors, and is a great price (under $100) for cashmere. A rare luxury — count me in!
I came up with seven ways to wear this turtleneck…which is especially great for those of us who will happily wear the same piece over and over again. (I’m very much a capsule wardrobe kinda person.) Maybe get two of these bad boys and alternate between them?
Black Cashmere Turtleneck Sweater, 7 Outfit Ideas
1. Make Destroyed Denim Sophisticated
This outfit always reminds me of S. It takes destroyed denim and makes it oh-so sophisticated. Make it special for date night with a leather jacket, booties, hoops and a slight statement bag. (I’m a sucker for a good feather bag.)

2. Show Off a Statement Jacket
A simple black turtleneck keeps the look elevated without distracting from the statement collar. There’s just something about dark blue denim, black turtlenecks and camel coats that always looks lux.
Side note: The fur collar is removable!

3. Warm Up a Silk Slip Dress (or skirt)
Use a black turtleneck sweater to warm up silky dresses and slips. This particular sweater is a little longer, so you can always try knotting at the waist if you don’t like where the hem hits on the dress. Or, pair the sweater with a skirt and do a slight tuck.

4. Make All-Black Swoon-Worthy
Being that I’m 5’2, I’m always looking for ways to elongate my short legs. Pairing a black turtleneck with black flares is a great way to get legs for days AND make an all-black outfit interesting. Finish off with cool accessories.

5. Make White Pants Work In Winter
White jeans/pants can sometimes be tricky to style when it’s cold. Pairing them with a black turtleneck creates contrast, making them a bold choice without looking out of season. Make it office-appropriate with a plaid blazer and loafers.

6. Dress Up Leggings
I’m a big believer in leggings being pants, especially faux-leather leggings. They’re like regular black leggings, but elevated (yet just as comfy). They look especially chic with a cozy black turtleneck and denim jacket.

7. Try Faux Fur & Leather
The best way to make short-shorts chic? Black turtleneck. Faux fur, faux leather and a comfy black turtleneck means equal parts cozy AND tough. Add some tights, heeled booties and pretty gold accessories for a night out.

Great post!
I love these “one piece, many ways” posts. Just bought myself a dark grey turtleneck sweater and hopefully I can take some cues from this to give it some edge–I don’t want it to slide into preppy/librarian territory (it’s just not my look).
I did a capsule wardrobe post where I included a grey turtleneck sweater (although it’s more of an oversized one.) Maybe this could give you some inspo to avoid the whole librarian look, too!

I agree with the love for “one piece, many ways”; however, I prefer to see the looks on a body (or bodies). I’d love to see a follow-up with all of the TME staffers styling this piece along with stuff they already own.
Great idea! Definitely helps to see on a body (maybe I’ll start including some more pics from the product’s site of someone wearing it, and round up the TME-ers to try them on!)
+1!!!
I’m confused by this turtleneck. I ordered the ivory from Nordstrom and got it this week and it was thin and see through. I thought Shana felt these were thick and plush? Is hers perhaps an older version? I don’t feel it was any thicker than my Everlane one although it was more oversized. Also, how do you do the French tuck when it has side slits? It just looks goofy on me unless you have a trick! Love all these style options in the article. Thanks for all your hard work to curate and review for us!
