When I saw the rave reviews on Athleta’s Flurry Force Jacket & their Altitude Tights, I was sold. They’re made for “medium and high-impact workouts” in cold climates or, as I like to put it, leaving my house.

The Athleta Outfit Perfect For Everyday (& The Occasional Farm Visit)
Athleta’s Altitude leggings are the most comfortable things I have EVER put on my body. And that’s saying something, since my love for leggings borders on slightly obsessive — especially in 2020. These leggings are SO incredibly soft and warm, I want to live in them.
The inside is sweatshirt-like in feel, and the waistband isn’t tight at all (but can be adjusted with an inner drawstring). They’re thicker than regular leggings, so I’m comfortable with the whole leggings-as-pants thing in this case. Come winter, I’ll be wearing them as a base layer under snow pants.
The jacket is basically leggings for your upper body — and I mean that in the best way possible. It’s really lightweight but still warm thanks to the Primaloft® Eco insulation. This will make another great base layer come winter.
Both the jacket and the leggings are machine-washable AND dryer-friendly (woot!) and that Primaloft® Eco insulation the jacket is made from? It’s a sustainable alternative to down. This is just an easy combination for when I want a super-comfortable and warm outfit when I’m out playing with the kids.
How to Style Activewear For Outside the Gym
But here’s the question: how do I avoid looking like I’m on my way to the gym when I’m wearing head-to-toe athleisure? It’s all about the shoes & bags, baby. Add a cute pair of sneaks and a bag to lean a little more streetstyle, a little less post-workout.

I recently wore this exact combo when we visited a local farm with the kids (how adorable is that goat??) and it was perfect. I could bend down to pick up the kids or run after them without a second thought and wasn’t afraid of getting anything dirty (which is probably going to happen at a farm). I was warm and comfortable but didn’t feel like I looked like I was heading straight to the gym.

I have to shout out Jo-Kay Corral in Negaunee, Michigan. It’s a great place to visit with the kids–especially now when physical distancing is so important. They had a great time playing, riding horses and feeding the animals, like this adorable goat!! (OK, maybe I had more fun feeding the animals.)

1 | Athleta Flurry Force Primaloft Insulated Jacket – Made from sustainable fabric, washer- and dryer-friendly, warm and lightweight.
2 | Athleta Altitude Tights – LOVE. Available in regular, tall, petite and plus sizes!
3 | Fjällräven Kånken Sling – I love their backpacks, and this bag is a great size for when you don’t need as much space. They come in a bunch of fun colors (more here!).
4 | Classic Vans – Shana, Laura, Amy and I all have these and love them. Super-comfortable (once you break them in!).
5 | Herschel Backpack – This one comes in a bunch of colors, but I’m loving the florals!
6 | P448 Floral Sneakers (40% off!) – The floral manages to be tough instead of girlie on these low-top sneaks.
7 | Clare V Crossbody Bag – 40% off! I love this bag…the strap makes it casual but easy to dress up. It’s the perfect size for me.
8 | Steve Madden Cliff Sneakers – These are SO comfortable and I get compliments every time I wear them.
9 | Rebecca Minkoff Nylon Tote – A lightweight, shiny version of our favorite Julian backpack. (The plain black is on sale if the shiny thing isn’t for you.)
10 | P448 Low Top Sneakers – I love the sparkly black with the gold, but they also come in a light grey or taupe!
11 | Neon Belt Bag – This is slightly obnoxious but I kind of love it. Those zipper pockets will come in handy, and you can wear it across your body if the fanny pack look is too much!
12 | Nike Zoom Double Stacked Sneaker – I LOVE these. There’s something about that color and stacked heel, but if those are too much for you these neon Air Force 1s would work just as well!

Hi Scotti! Do the leggings stay soft inside even after multiple washes? Best, Amie
