I’ve been writing about my love of tunics for years. They’re so easy, so flattering and my closet is full of them. I don’t want things to get stale, though, and the same tunic-with-jeans-and-tall-boots feels a bit . . . boring? Not that that’s not a perfect way to wear them, but I wanted to see if I could branch out and come up with some new ideas to help modernize my wardrobe (without buying a ton of new things). Here’s what I came up with.
3 Tunic Outfit Ideas To Try Right Now
1. Ribbed Tunic With A Lace Midi
I saw this lace skirt and fell in love. I ordered it on a whim with no idea how I was going to style it. I’m going to be experimenting with more looks, but I especially love the way it looks with a tunic and shorts. It adds a bit of coverage to short shorts (especially with the weather starting to get cooler) so I don’t feel overly exposed, but still looks sexy over bare legs.
2. Free People Tunic With A Floaty Mini
I love this skirt (that’s actually a slip). It’s short, but doesn’t feel too revealing because of the asymmetrical hemline — even with bare legs. It’s the perfect way to lengthen the hemline of a tunic just enough to go without pants or leggings. I love the texture it adds and it’s a great way to show off your boots!
3. Henley Tunic Over A Bodycon Dress
OK, so this isn’t a new idea of mine, but I’m still wearing this tunic-and-slip-dress combo all the time. This is my favorite non-sweater tunic, and I’ve been wearing it for years. It’s not too tight on bottom (like lots of other tunics are for my pear-shape), is often on sale, and comes in fun new colors each season. (How gorgeous is the brown?) Pairing it with a slip dress is my favorite way to wear it in the early fall. I’ll add patterned tights and a jacket when it gets cooler. (If you don’t want the dress underneath to show at the neckline, try this one!)
