I was packing for spring break the day before we left when I realized the trusty, flattering, family-friendly one-piece I’ve been wearing for the past four years was getting a little threadbare from nightly hot tub sessions. Ok, a lot threadbare. And where it wasn’t bare, it was sadly…what’s the word. Saggy. Apparently, even the trustiest suit can only take so much rinsing and wringing (and, let’s be honest, plenty of nights where it gets hurriedly hung up, chlorine and all, without much of either) before it starts showing its age, and so became my mission to find a vacation-worthy swimsuit in less than 24 hours. (Note: the exact same suit wasn’t available to ship in time. Otherwise…duh.)
Enter: a mad dash Cupshe swimwear haul, bought with literally seconds left on the clock for next-day arrival. And here we are.
My Honest Cupshe Swimsuit Review: Quality, Fit & Value
I’ve owned a handful of Cupshe swimsuits over the years, and I’ve been really pleased with the quality and value of all of them. There’ve been some hits and misses where personal preference is concerned, but, generally speaking, I find them to be true to size and more or less as advertised. Comfortable, flattering, well-designed with intentionally selected fabrics and details, and a great value for the price. (The collaborations with Bachelor Nation cast members doesn’t hurt either. Turns out I’m a sucker for a scorned woman slinging swimwear.)
Following this try-on, my opinion is unchanged. I found the quality of every Cupshe swimsuit I tried (and even the one non-Cupshe suit that made its way into my order, whoops!) to be highly satisfactory, if not impressive.
I’ll get into sizing and fit notes below, but the overall gist: all six of the suits in this post are worth a try. I feel like that says a lot.
Sizing Notes + What I Wanted In A One-Piece Swimsuit
Before we proceed, a little about my sizing and the fit I was looking for: I’m 5’5″ and 130 lbs, typically a 34B-C or small up top and size small or 25 in bottoms, and pretty straight through the middle where I tend to carry my weight. I’m a little longer in the torso, too. For this trip, I was looking for a one-piece swimsuit that would support my uneven, post-single mastectomy/reconstruction bust (I’m not that curvy up top, but I find supportive styles help the wonky girls to sit more evenly) while offering some kind of interesting detail that would feel more elevated than your basic Little Black Swimsuit.
1) Cupshe Women’s One Piece Deep V Keyhole Cutout O Ring Textured Bathing Suit
swimsuit (s)
Let’s kick things off with a bang. This One Piece Deep V Keyhole Cutout O Ring Bathing Suit (phew!) was an immediate yes. I love the muted brick red hue (a nice detour from black or navy without being too shouty). The textured fabric feels really luxe. The O ring back is simple and elegant, and it still has adjustable straps for a semi-customizable fit. (Being longer in the torso and with one boob that needs a little more support than the other, this is always an appreciated feature.)
It’s also modest enough in the bum without looking dowdy. Just an overall win and exactly what I was looking for. Sizing is true.
In sum: Ding ding ding! Kept this one, and it was actually the swimsuit I reached for most on our trip. I will say that, when wet, there were a few instances with the lining peeked out of the bust a bit, but it’s the kind of thing only I noticed. Not a dealbreaker by any means.
2) Cupshe Women’s One Piece Deep V Neck Crisscross Back Adjustable Strap Swimsuit
swimsuit (s)
This One Piece Deep V Neck Crisscross Adjustable Back Swimsuit is probably the most similar to the swimsuit I was replacing in terms of color and simplicity. And, for all intents and purposes I could have just replaced, it. It was great, after all! But I wanted something fresh.
Really simple and flattering, and I love the specific hue of this navy, which is a little dustier and more elevated than a super dark, saturated nautical navy. Very similar to the popular J.Crew suits we all know and love, and from a quality standpoint, it’s not far off. The fabric doesn’t feel quite as substantial as the J.Crew version, but for $40 and an easy, true-to-size fit, I have zero complaints. Lots of color options, too.
In sum: Pretty, comfortable, flattering, classic. A safe bet.
3) Cupshe Women’s One Piece Paradise Bloom V Neck Crisscross Back Swimsuit
This One Piece Paradise Bloom Swimsuit is proof that, if nothing else, color is everything. And while I loved this one in theory (the fun print was what called to me in the first place), turns out these watercolor hues are…not for me. On someone for whom these colors are ideal, I think this suit could be everything. (Shana pulls off frolickly brights like this really well!) But on me, it clashed and felt childish. Chris said, and I quote, “The fit is great, but I can’t tell if you look like a little kid or a retiree bound for a cruise ship.” From the mouths of husbands.
As for fit, though, not a single complaint. I really appreciated the softer, wider straps; the customizable fit thanks to the tie back; and the softly supportive halter style. The cute contrasting trim and strappy shoulders are great, too. And this one is slimming through the middle without being compressive. Very comfortable and true to size.
In sum: Recommended if this is your color palette! Worth trying in another color if it’s not! (They’re about to release a very similar suit in the prettiest solid colors, too, if that’s more your speed.)
4) Cupshe Women’s One Piece High Neck Tummy Control Swimsuit
swimsuit (s)
I was attracted to this One Piece High Neck Tummy Control Swimsuit primarily due to the halter style, which I always find to be elegant and flattering. The pattern — kind of a muted drapery-inspired number that I actually really love — was a bonus, too. (What can I say? I love a vintage couch moment…on my body.)
You can scrunch the halter wider or narrower depending on your preference (see the image above versus the image below), and the strappy tie back (a recurring theme here) once again helps customize the fit a bit. The bust isn’t as lifting as some of the others, but the girls are most definitely not going anywhere, so I think it could handle a bigger bust if you’re not looking to defy gravity.
On this one, although “Tummy Control” is literally in the name, it’s not noticeably compressive through the middle. Ruched, yes, which is maybe a bit more forgiving, but still totally comfortable and true to size.
In sum: Another one that I really liked and ended up keeping. Chris commented that the neckline was flattering, if that counts for anything. And if you don’t gravitate toward drapery patterns like I do, it’s also offered in 12 (!!) other colors. Conversely, if you love the print but not the cut, this one has the same pattern in a simpler design.
5) Cupshe Women’s One Piece Mesh Backless One Piece Swimsuit
I loved this Mesh Backless One Piece so much in looks, alone. Unfortunately, it’s the only one that I felt ran a bit small. It’s definitely the most compressive of the bunch (and therefore wildly slimming), but aside from the narrowness through the middle, it also felt a little tight across the back and shoulders.
In a size up, I think it’d be truly so pretty, and the mesh detail on the back adds an elevated, feminine touch to a suit that is otherwise very well equipped for lotsa sporty activity. It’s also the least adjustable of the bunch, so if you’re shorter or longer in the torso or wider/narrower across the back, it’s not a very customizable fit.
In sum: I’m planning to exchange it for a medium to see if I like the fit better, because the design is so flattering and versatile.
6) Eomenie Women’s One Piece Push Up Wrap Front Swimsuit
swimsuit (s)
Ah, the wildcard. This One Piece Push Up Wrap Front Swimsuit was was snuck in as a recommendation, and, in my add-to-cart frenzy, it made the cut.
The good? The fit is great, and the structured cups could be great for a large bust. Doesn’t feel compressive. Very comfy.
The bad? I think it’s a little too much swimsuit for me. The cups on my bust are a little overkill, and the ruching through the middle feels like it adds volume, which doesn’t do much for my straight torso. The print is a bit much, too, but there are other options in that area.
In sum: Went back for me, but I think this could be such a stunning suit on a curvier body! Very bombshell.
Overall, some of these were admittedly more appealing to me than others, but there’s really not a bad one in the bunch. And, most importantly, I ended up with a couple of very solid options in time for my trip.
If you have a fave Cupshe suit (there are so many, it’s a little overwhelming), I’d love to hear about it.

Em
