Are you always stuck in second gear when it comes to styling your black blazer in a new way? Has it not been your day, your week your month or even your year when it comes to getting dressed lately?

Have no fear, this rad new blazer and I are here for you. Even when the rain starts to fall, I’ve got you covered with a solution below. Grab a giant cup of coffee and let’s check out these outfits, shall we?

Cool Black Blazer For Work & Play

A Black Blazer with Cool Details Meets A Wide-Leg Jean

I didn’t know a year ago that I would love wide-leg pants so much, but Shana and I talked about being in a skinny jean rut last year, and I’m proud to say I’ve branched out. I still wear a skinny jean, but maybe only once a week now! I know! Amazing. These wide-leg jeans are comfy and flattering even on my shorter figure, and you can customize them to flatter you perfectly, too! It makes a WORLD of difference to have these hit at just the right spot above your ankle. Check out my Instagram highlights to see the difference!

We're all heart eyes for this insanely cool black blazer. Paired with wide-leg jeans or elevated as an office outfit, we're all over this wardrobe staple.

DKNY Blazer (6) // I love this thing! It’s long enough to be on-trend, but I don’t feel like I’m swimming in it. Pairing it here with the cropped wide-leg jeans is such a nice proportion play of long + wide + cropped. I was stoked to find this rad piece at Macy’s. I haven’t seen another blazer with interesting details like this yet elsewhere!

Friends Tee (s) // I had to.

Silver Brand Wide Leg Jeans (27) // These are so comfy! True-to-size and a great jean. I wore them twice last week already! Crop to the correct length on you (I ordered the 26″ inseam, but they were still about 1 1/2″ too long)

Nine West purse // adorable and structured yet plenty of room for the necessities.

Steven sneakers // SO cute and super comfy. They look like much higher-end sneakers, which are totally in style whether you agree with the distressed look or not (I’m looking at you FB comments). I love love them. TTS but only in whole sizes. Size up if in between. I’m a solid 8 and my toes came right to the end, but not uncomfortably.

The Cool Black Blazer Meets the Comfiest Pants for Work

As a graphic designer, I’ve always worked in offices that allowed for a wide range of options for workwear. So, maybe not all offices would allow blue leopard print, but I’m willing to bet these days most would! I love this layered look with the hoodie and sneakers for a casual office or everyday momming (these pants are insanely comfy!), but you could easily throw on a black ankle boot to make it a little more business friendly. And as I mentioned, when the rain starts to fall, you’re all set here with your hood. This is definitely the go-to Portland trick when it’s your average misty, rainy day.

DKNY Blazer (6) // the faux leather details on the sleeves here are so rad! They add a special touch that makes me adore this blazer even more. It’s already become a fall go-to for me!

Nike Hoodie (s) // Love this hoodie and it’s a thin weight that is perfect for layering. Macy’s also has the matching cropped sweatpants below. I love the ‘tracksuit’ vibe when worn together for your fav, sporty loungewear.

I.N.C Blue Leopard Skinny Pants (4) // So comfy, pull-on style and TTS. I tucked the length under here because they were plenty long for people taller than 5’4″, FYI. They have a nice high waistband that’s still comfortable. They’re a great pant!

  1. I love these outfits! I know you all like feedback, so I want to mention that I miss the feature where you can see the price before clicking on the link for items. Also, am I the only one who is having trouble getting the site to reload each time I visit? I can’t see new posts when I first come to the site, then even refreshing and clicking on the top of the main page doesn’t even work, I have had this happen on 3 different devices, and home and away from home. I can get to new posts by going to “style” and then navigating to “next article” and “previous article”.

    • Suzanne, thank you so much! And yes. The site is encountering some cache-ing snags. If you clear your image cache it should help. Our team is on it though and hoping to find a fix! Also, noted on the pricing! Sometimes incorrect pricing is shown, so we toggle that feature off, but I do know it’s helpful to see so I will totally add it when I can! Thanks so much for the feedback!

  2. I am also having trouble with the site not updating!

Also wondering if the blazer is available anywhere else? This link doesn’t ship to Canada?

    Thank you !!

    • Hi Monica. We’re experiencing a few snags in our image cache-ing so if you clear your cache that should help, but the team is on a fix! Thanks so much for the feedback. I’m so sorry I’m not sure where else to find the blazer and I so apologize there’s not a Canadian shipping option. Some of my favorite people live in Canada. I hope they’ll address that!

    • Hey Kari! It’s actually the same for most all of us…start with 1″ above your ankle and then I typically then go another 1/2″ or so. you just want to show off your ankles without it being too much higher than that. You can go to my instagram @laurajansenstyle and it’s on the highlights under my bio to see the before and after! I hope that helps!

  3. Longline blazer over workout attire to make it a real outfit?? And go! Background, I work for a fitness company and it is completely acceptable and expected to wear our branded/logo’d attire to the office everyday. But I want to jazz up my leggings and tanks and think a longline blazer might be the ticket.

Any suggestions for a more casual longline blazer, nothing fancy, maybe stretch material?

  4. Laura – I just bought the jeans! Don’t love denim but those are so cute and comfy looking, that I decided I could add them in my wardrobe. How high from ankle is the bottom of the jean hem on you? And did you just take a pair of scissors to them? Thanks!
