J.Crew suits have been on rotation for me since high school. They’ve just always offered the best colors around, even back in the day when colors were weird and not as awesome as they are now. Haha…#the90s. I used to peruse their catalogs partly just for the amazing color names.
But besides some fab shades, their swimsuits have always been well-made and flattering. I hadn’t tried a good variety of J.Crew’s suits on in a while, so it was time! I tried out a bunch of one-piece bathing suits and two-piece bikinis in both solids and some seriously fun patterns.
For size reference, I’m 5’4″, typically a 27 in jeans and a 4/6 in dresses with a 32DD bra size. Also for reference, it’s really tough to take a flattering behind shot in a swimsuit to put on the internets, y’all. Lordy. But as your backside is half of you, I thought it important to show that angle, so here goes…
J.Crew Swimwear: One-Piece Suits
The Red One (With A Hint of Sexy)
This! I think this is one of their most popular one-piece suits. I see why! It’s kinda sexy in front and only slightly cheeky in the back. It also holds the midsection in nicely while still being comfortable. And this red. I MEAN. So good. I’m not sure if I need a second one-piece right now, but I think this would be my top choice if I did.

The Strapless Leopard Print Swimsuit
Scotti and I both tried this one on. It’s super-cute and holds you in, but I think we both wish the cut was a bit more modern. On us shorter peeps, a higher-cut leg does wonders, and this just isn’t quite there. If you’re looking for a lower cut leg though, this is a great suit!

The Gorgeous (More Modest) Sun Goddess One
The color on this one-piece is so beautiful. It holds you in and has the flattering ruching at the waist and whatnot. But…beyond that, I wasn’t impressed with the fit on me. It kinda spreads my boobs far apart and wasn’t flattering from behind either. If you have a longer upper body this might be good for you though. Note that the straps aren’t adjustable, so that was part of my issue with fit.

Adorable Floral Suits!
Um, this is so cute. I love the fit of the top and the bottoms, and the print is just lovely. I think I’m keeping this cutie for my trip to a conference in Palm Springs in a few weeks. I’m finally a fan of the “just slightly cheeky” bottoms, as I do think they’re more flattering and break up the bum a bit. You will not see me rocking super-cheeky or a thong at any point, y’all, but this and the Amazon suit show just enough bum to be more flattering than full coverage. This won’t be my go-to for lots of playing in the water or swimming due to the tie shoulder straps, but it’s so cute otherwise, I’m willing to overlook them. They do tie snugly, but yeah, no water parks for me in this any time soon. I do find it weird that by description the only difference between this top and the next red one (scroll down) is tie straps, but in fact, they fit quite differently as you can see. Hmm.

The Nautical Vibe Mix & Match Swim Set
I love this color & print combo I wound up trying due to low stock in the striped tops, but both of these pieces seemed to fit oddly. I feel like this bottom has an even higher waist or the fit is just different from the other high-waisted pairs I tried. I can’t quite put my finger on exactly what’s different…but something. The top is a size medium, but whew…boob-alicious. A little too much for me. However, I adore the color and the support in the cups. I guess I’d try a large to see how it compares, but I really like the fit of the floral top so much more.

You Know I Had to Try on Another Leopard Suit
I couldn’t pass up another opportunity for animal print. Since the tiger stripe pieces (see shopping widget below) are on backorder for a bit, I tried another set in this fab brown and ivory leopard. This set is super-cute. The bottoms weren’t quite as flattering as the floral for some reason. They felt slightly thinner? But still a solid choice. I like the deeper cut top here that’s sexy but less “push up bra” than the red bikini.

The Super-Cute Seersucker
This one is so adorable. I think if I were a little bit more preppy I’d so go for it. This is essentially the same top and bottom as the floral set, but in a stretch seersucker fabric. I’m not sure how that would hold up over time. The leg openings were a little tiny bit loose on this, but gah…isn’t it adorable?

Shop Flattering Bathing Suits & Bikinis At J.Crew
In all honesty here, I was on the last few days of my airbrush tan from our Mexico trip, so that’s why I decided to order up some swimsuits this week, haha. Then you wouldn’t have to be blinded by my Portland bod, y’all. Shoutout to Organic Bronze Bar Bridgeport because this thing lasted for like two weeks! #impressed I think the product must be super hydrating, too, because my normally dry skin does really great on this.
Have you found any fab suits from J.Crew or elsewhere this year yet? Who’s going somewhere fun this spring? Do share! It’s been sunny the last few days here and it’s seriously giving me LYFE. I think we’re gonna make it, friends!
