Let’s get the basics out of the way:  where you live, how many kids (if any), etc.

I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado and even though I don’t have kids, I do consider my fur baby Mia to be my child.

Three words to describe your personal style. Go.

Black on black (jk, well sort of). Comfortable. Classic. Trendy.

Who are your style icons? How do you integrate those tastes into your own wardrobe, if at all?

My mom is one of my style icons, because she has always had a great eye for fashion. She has always been great at knowing exactly how to pair blazers with the perfect pair of jeans. Growing up she would buy 99% of my clothes (even prom dresses) without me ever trying them on and they always fit like a glove! Most recently my mom has introduced me to the world of thrifting, and it’s amazing how many incredibly stylish pieces I have been able to find for such a steal!

I also find a ton of inspiration from Ashley Graham and Gabrielle Gregg (aka Gabi Fresh) who both have been instrumental in the plus size fashion movement. They both take risks, wear sexy clothes, and encourage other women to feel confident and sexy just as they are. Gabi and Ashley also have incredible swimsuit and fashion lines, and the majority of my favorite pieces have come from their lines!

How has your personal style evolved over the years?

When I was younger finding jeans that fit my plus-size body well and looked cute seemed to always be a feat, and I found myself living in leggings and dresses. But now with so many more amazing options, like the plus-size Levi’s jeans, as well as Good American, I find myself gravitating towards the jeans and a white t-shirt uniform.  And while I still love my all black get-ups, I also have been liking more colorful and patterned looks.

What’s your most-worn piece? (If it’s sweatpants…we won’t tell.)

When I started Marie Kondo’ing my closet I found that I have 10 of the exact same style top: which is a black crop top with ruffles. I will pair these tops with jeans, a long maxi skirt, or a pair of leggings.

Sometimes it’s hard to gauge height from an Instagram or blog post – SO…how tall are you?

I am a shorty and am 5’2”.

Your top three beauty products?

I have been using all non-toxic and organic makeup and hair products for the past 5 years, and have absolutely loved the results on my skin. My go-to makeup brands right now are Lawless (I am in love with the colors in their eyeshadow palette), RMS Beauty, and Pacifica. For skincare, I am obsessed with Youth to the People, Tata Harper and May Lindstrom. And for my curls I only use BrioGeo and their hair mask is my holy grail hair product!

What drew you to blogging and when did you start?

I have always had an affinity for writing, and growing up my mom always said she thought I would be a writer. And while I didn’t believe her, writing has found its way into all aspects of my life. I started taking blogging more seriously back in 2014 and mainly wrote about traveling and food. At the end of 2018, I was at a crossroads and decided that I wanted to share more about my personal journey and love of fashion, and thus thekatrinanichole Instagram and website were born. Today I write a ton for my day job, I journal, and I love to write about plus-size fashion and body positivity on my Instagram and website.

What does a typical day look like?

My day always ALWAYS starts with a cup of coffee followed by my morning stroll with Mia. Then I spend the rest of my morning getting ready and am in the office by 8 am. I typically spend most of my days in meetings and then make my way back home around 4 pm. After another walk with the pup, I usually head to a Zumba or hip hop class. My night ends with a late dinner around 8:30 pm followed by a shower, some journaling or a guilty pleasure episode of the Kardashians.

What did you dream of being when you were young?

I dreamt of being a lawyer when I was younger, and for a long time (up until my junior year of college) I thought I would be. But life has a funny way of taking you into different directions, and now my career is in higher education.

What’s one fashion risk you love to see on others but would NEVER take yourself?

I have loved the dad shoe trend recently, but every time I think about buying a pair, I back out because I just can’t quite figure out how to style them.
