The summer activewear options for plus size are hot hot hot! Like seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever had this many incredible things to choose from. Nike is currently killing the game with these drawstring leggings that are perfect for HIIT workouts (I’m also obsessed with this periwinkle top and leggings, as well as the everything tropical print like you see above); Good American has the cutest patterns and sets, and Girlfriend Collective is the new kid on the block that is making serious waves.
The Best Plus-Size Activewear
Y’all, I’m so thrilled that so many more brands are offering plus-size athletic wear and can’t wait to shake my bum bum in some of these amazing pieces!
The Best Brands For Plus-Size Activewear
Before we delve into the nuts and bolts of these brands, I want to mention two boutique brands that offer plus size!
Glamourina is a small but mighty Black-owned athletic wear boutique, and I absolutely love their logo! The sizing goes up to a 2x and I’m obsessed with everything on their site. This super-cute signature culture tank is perfect for yoga! If you’re looking to support Black-owned businesses, then check out Glamourina’s site!
Prana is a sustainable brand that Laura introduced me to! I personally haven’t tried out their clothes yet, but was stoked when she mentioned that they have extended sizing. This brand looks like a great one to try out if you are an avid hiker, and these pants look like something I need for the days when I am out hiking here in CO. When I get my hands on some of their items, I’ll update you all and let you know my thoughts!
Of all the plus-size brands that are offering workout clothes, Good American comes in numero uno for me! What I love about GA is that every single item they have on their website is available in plus-size, and their sizing runs from an XS to a 4X! From the get-go, they made this an inclusive brand, and you can view all products on models in three different sizes. Not only have they been inclusive from day one, but they also have the most extensive collection with tons of varying patterns, super-cute sets, and of course, lots of biker shorts! I’ve loved GA forever — but I especially love what they stand for. p.s. The quality of the material is also great — and squat proof!
Nike’s plus-size collection is on fire this season! I am absolutely loving their sets right now — I recently did a huge haul and kept way too much! I’m obsessed with this periwinkle sports bra and leggings set, and also I am totally into their tropical prints right now. The majority of their leggings have drawstrings, which is perfect for HIIT and dance workouts. You can slip on your leggings and then tighten them at the waist, which means zero worrying about having to hike up your pants every 10 seconds! You can see everything I bought on TikTok!
I LOVE Adidas and have been a huge fan of their crop tops and sneakers forever! And when they dropped their plus-size line, my love and admiration only grew deeper. While there is so much to appreciate about this brand, a few things are standouts for me. 1. Adidas is killing the sustainability game! So much so that they are often ranked as a top brand when it comes to ethical and sustainable initiatives. 2. Their clothing lasts FOREVER! Many of the crop tops I own from Adidas are white and well-loved, but the fabric and color quality has remained intact year after year. Adidas’ current line is timeless, with tons of cute sets and even a few tie-dye creations! Needless to say, Adidas is giving me all the vibes for a great summer of at-home and virtual workout options!
4. Beyond Yoga
Every time I wear my Beyond Yoga leggings, everyone raves about how much they love them. Their leggings are super-thick and feel like you would get a serious sweat on in a hot yoga class. “Beyond Yoga was created to inspire you to feel beautiful inside and out, while redefining standards.” Every picture they post of their models is not retouched and their sizing goes up to a 3x. They also have several sustainable efforts in place, and all their clothes are designed and manufactured in California!
Girlfriend Collective is the newest (to me) brand that I’ve found. Their offerings are basic, but their leggings are the shit! The material is super-lightweight and completely squat proof as well. Of all the leggings I’ve tried, these were the most lightweight AND supportive! GF Collective is doing big things right now, and I think this is going to be the next line of workout clothing to watch out for!
I have a few pieces from Athleta and everything I own is stellar. Athleta is one of the most talked-about brands among the TME team and everyone loves their joggers. I personally am obsessed with these leggings!
7. Under Armour
Under Armour was one of the first brands that I ever bought plus-size activewear from. I used to go to the outlet malls back in college and would score some pretty amazing patterns that were priced just right for me. Their clothes are still wonderful, and I really love their sports bras.
All In Motion is the most affordable of this Top 10 List! All In Motion is a Target brand that has some seriously cute activewear that are both affordable and get the job done! I recommend this brand for more low impact workouts and your everyday stroll around the neighborhood. I have several tops that I wear to yoga, and I really like what they have to offer.
It wasn’t until a few weeks ago that I finally understood all the Zella hype. I had tried countless pairs of leggings from this brand and was disappointed to find that they were constantly falling down. BUT…I recently discovered their high-waisted leggings and they are so good! No need to hike up my pants, and the compression in the legging is amazing. I’m so glad I finally found a pair of leggings from Zella that work for me!
Phew, writing this post definitely felt like a workout, but in the best way! There are so many great options this season and I can’t wait to keep shaking my bum bum with you all on TikTok! What athletic brands do you wear and love? And if I missed any, let me know in the comments!
