Since I’ll be SUPER-pregnant this August, I’ve had my eye out for cute maternity swimsuits to wear this summer. Last time I was pregnant I just wore a two-piece, but this time around I have a big ol’ hernia right around my belly button. Awesome. I mean, realistically it’s not the end of the world . . . there are more important things going on. BUT. I’d probably be more comfortable if I could cover it up. So . . . the search was on.
Unfortunately for me, most of the maternity styles I was seeing were all the same. There are retro styles for days and swim skirts (dresses?) all over the place. The problem is, that’s just not my style. At all. I was lamenting about trying to find a cute maternity suit one day to Shana, and was wondering if there was a NON-maternity option that could work for all nine months of pregnancy. She looked at me like I was nuts, and was like, “yeah that doesn’t exist.” Oh, game ON. If there’s one thing that motivates me, it’s someone telling me I can’t do/find/wear something.
So here’s what I found: a suit that can be adjusted up and down the sides. Pretty much a genius concept, pregnant or not. I almost always have issues with one-piece suits being too tight around my legs/butt if they fit my upper half. (Which is why I usually rely on tie-side bikini bottoms). The halter tie lets me adjust the top as well, and while this may not actually work come August when my belly is biggest (we will see!), it’s working great right now. Bonus I’ll be able to wear it next year as well!
Oufit Details
Strappy Side Plunge One Piece: Wearing a size medium . . . I also tried a large, which could work . . . but there was a bit more fabric bunching around my rib cage.
Nickel & Suede Black Cork Leather Earrings: My favorite – comfy and lightweight.
One-Piece & Cover Up
Speaking of non-maternity beachwear, I saw this cover up dress and loved it. It’s not maternity, but there’s plenty of fabric to keep the belly covered. I have NO doubt this one will last all nine months and will also be great for postpartum and nursing. The straps are adjustable, which is a necessity for me (most maxis are too long on me). This dress is ridiculously comfortable and I’ve been wearing it every time we have a hot day. It’s just so easy. (Did I mention it has pockets??)

Elan International Spaghetti Strap Dress (Runs big, wearing an xs . . . more colors here, plus sizes here. I found a similar dress in a ton of colors here, and I also have my eye on this cool lace-up design by the same designer.)
Nickel & Suede Black Cork Leather Earrings: My favorite – comfy and lightweight.
Happy beach days! (I love this hat – it’s comfy and comes in two sizes . . . I’m wearing the bigger size.)

So cute!! Love that bathing suit!! I have that dress in a blue and white stripe from last year and it is honestly one of the best things I own for summer!!! So cool and comfortable, but flattering, too! It looks like I put some effort in to my appearance when I wear it, when in reality, I’m usually just too hot to put on multiple articles of clothing!
wow momma, you look amazing in this!! love it!
