10 Things Worth Buying At Nordstrom’s Memorial Day Sale (Free People, Madewell, Caslon & More!)

Nordstrom sales are always a fun time, but I don’t remember the last half-yearly sale that was this good

I spent nearly the whole day the sale was launched digging through 180+ pages of items (and that’s just the women’s clothing section ALONE), to find summer-ready gems that are worthy of snapping up before they’re gone.

The deep dive paid off, in spades. I found beautiful Free People tops, a warm-weather-ready wash of Madewell’s famous jeans, a graphic tee worthy of living in, and even a dress ready for every party, backyard BBQ, and brunch date that lies ahead this next season. And, well, even MORE than that – so let’s not waste anymore time.

10 Things Worth Buying in Nordstrom’s Half Yearly Sale

I ran to my nearest Nordstrom and, admittedly, found more than just these 10 things that grabbed my attention. But these were the best of the bunch, whether because they fit the best, are ridiculously comfy to wear, or are made with the best materials.

Not to mention, everything is ready to wear right now, to take us from the rest of spring and long into summer!

1. Caslon Wide Leg Chambray Pants

At 5’9″ (and some change) these pants are a cropped length on me, which actually works quite nice when living and walking along a summer shoreline. They feel amazing on, soft and lightweight made from 100% lyocell, and have the most fun swing to them when you move.

There’s a darker color included in the sale, too, but I think the lighter wash skews more modern and summertime (plus, it’s easier to style IMO).

2. Free People Float Away Button Up

Free People always nails the pretty little blouse, and this one is no exception. The semi-sheer white of the button-up makes it ready for every summer activity, and it’s unbelievably flowy – almost ethereal, fairy-like – when wearing.

This top wears like a long tunic, and would easily elevate any denim cut-offs, it pairs comfortably with swingy cotton pants, and would be very chic worn open over your swimsuit.

3. Madewell Superwide Jeans

I think a handful of us on the team at TME are fans of Madewell’s Superwide Jeans, and honestly, it’s not hard to be. These are a famous Madewell silhouette for a reason. They work for multiple body shapes, are an easy way to incorporate looser denim into your closet, and are always SO comfortable.

One thing to keep in mind is that this wash is actually a lot lighter in person (which is truthfully perfect for summer).

4. Caslon Stripe Cotton Midi Dress

Caslon and their perfectly summer ready stripes just have my number this year. And what’s the only thing better than a striped piece of clothing? COLORFUL stripes in 100% cotton. This midi dress feels vintage and youthful all at once, while having the easiest, loose cinch around the middle to give the look some dimension. It’s SO comfy to wear and I kept swinging and swooshing it like a child as I stood in front of the mirror.

This one is probably my favorite surprise of the entire sale.

5. Caslon Stripe Wide Leg Pants

I’m a major sucker for breezy striped pants in the summertime and have a healthy collection of them in my wardrobe. They are the easiest, coastal-inspired item to throw on, and this pair even be dressed up (thanks to the cutie little, trouser-like addition of the back pocket).

Shana gave the pants her stamp of approval and recently paired them with this top for a look that was so incredibly chic I am tempted to copy it, head to toe.

6. Billabong Cotton Graphic T-Shirt

I’ve been singing the praises of Billabong 100% cotton graphic tees for years, even when graphic t-shirts were considered lazy and “out”. They come out with new colors and surf-inspired graphics each season but consistently have the perfect oversized drape that has me reaching for them to throw on with my bikini and cut-offs, all season long.

Act fast, these ALWAYS sell out.

7. Madewell Rugby T-Shirt

I almost didn’t try this one based on the few lackluster reviews, but I couldn’t resist all those stripes and colorblock detailing – and thank goodness for that. This funky striped rugby t-shirt is the easiest pairing for denim in these coastal spring days that haven’t fully heated up yet, but it’s lightweight enough that it will work for warmer summer days, too.

The dropped shoulders and double, raw-looking collar (SO good) give off a very laid-back, cool-girl look to the top – and it’s also 100% cotton!

8. Free People Tinsley Baggy Jeans

The Tinsley Jeans from Free People are in the Nordstrom sale in both this creamy hue and a regular blue denim wash, too. I only have stark white denim in my wardrobe and was immediately intrigued by trying this color out. It was only after I bought them that I noticed the hint of utility detailing within the pockets, which is also very subtle and cool when wearing in real life.

I listened to the reviews and sized up, only to find they would have been perfect in my true size. My personal take-away is that if you’re straight framed like me (no hips, no bum), these are a great true-to-size fit.

9. Treasure & Bond Relaxed Camp Shirt

There’s something about a camp shirt that is timeless. They have a dressy feel that works with trousers, but are a very put-together pairing with your everyday denim. I’m obsessed with the elbow length sleeves on this version by Treasure & Bond, and the relaxed silhouette makes it cute no matter if it’s tucked in or left swinging over your hips!

10. Free People Stripe Sweatshirt

I’ve seen this neon watermelon hued sweatshirt online for awhile and it always catches my eye, so this sale was a fun excuse to finally try it on. In typical Free People fashion the sweatshirt runs large and drapey, has exceptionally long sleeves (always my favorite part about Free People), and the high-low cut makes it a great pairing to drape over your shorts this summer.

In typical Amy fashion, I love it.
