Happy Memorial Day Weekend!! I’m not sure when Memorial Day sales started looking like Black Friday sales (I mean…whoa) but, uh…here we are. In order to get you guys back to the good stuff (sand castles, snuggles, bbq) as quickly as possible, we’ve done our usual thing and rounded up our top picks by retailer, here. If you are interested in my personal edit of the sale, keep reading.
Since Memorial Day Weekend is the official summer kick off, the last thing I want to do is spend it shopping. So instead of stocking up on basics (which takes me FOREVER), I do a quick peruse of the sales, looking for either insane deals too good to miss (that La Ligne cashmere sweater or IRO leather jacket comes to mind) or for a few fun statement pieces.
ps. My swimsuit (above) is on sale, but almost sold out. You can find a few sizes here, here or here.
pps. If you just want my random opinion of which retailers have the freaking BEST Memorial Day Sale? It’s Net-a-Porter and J.Crew.
Best of The Memorial Day Weekend Sales
According to, ya know…me.
TOP ROW
Feather Embellished Cotton Top – machine washable and 40% off at The Modist. (Haven’t heard of them? Check out Lex’s recent article for some seriously drool-worthy modest fashion.) Since it’s me, I’d pair this insanely gorg top with denim cutoffs and high heels.
Vince Ribbed Bateau Neck Sweater – the color here is actually a really dark navy (my fav), and I’m loving the cropped length and extra-long sleeves. 40% off, too.
Gangs of Love Tee – 50% off and nuff said, I think.
Silk Lace Cami – There’s an insane sale on CAMI NYC at Net-a-Porter. This is my top pick. (More below.)
MIDDLE ROW
Mara Hoffman Bikini – The floral print is gorgeous and these pieces are so well made. I also like a bikini top that doesn’t give me weird tan lines. Also — sustainable. Ordered.
Frame Striped Tee – I love these retro stripes with white jeans (or white jean shorts) all summer. It’s a perfect, not-too-preppy pairing.
Floral Skirt – This cute little skirt from Faithful the Brand is the kind of thing I love wearing with flat sandals and graphic tees (knotted) all summer. Just ordered myself.
Wide-Leg Jeans – These dramatic flares from Frame are perfect for summer. And because of the shape, no matter where you hem (or hack) them, you won’t lose any drama.
BOTTOM ROW
DVF Floral Dress – This cute little dress by DVF is calling my name. So easy to dress up, dress down, so easy to layer….a shockingly versatile piece that’s never boring.
IRO Leather Jacket – this is a more cropped version of the one I have but GOOD GRIEF I can’t remember the last time I saw a black IRO leather jacket on sale, much less 40% off!! (If you want red or blush pink…they’re on sale at Nordstrom.) But size up – I have a 38 in this one.
rag & bone Snakeprint Booties – rag & bone boots are the kind you’ll have forever. And statement-making snakeprint is a bit like leopard: wildly classic. You may not wear the heck of out these in July, but you’ll be thanking me come September, October, November, Dec, etc.
Oversized Sweater – This giant cozy thing by Tory Sport is perfect for throwing on with cut-offs at the beach. My night-time uniform.
La Ligne Striped Cashmere Sweater – If you’ve been reading for a while, you might know that I have this sweater in navy stripe (and one in burgundy stripe) and wear them alllllll the time. I pack them when we travel. They’re just really good cashmere sweaters with a really cool shape.
Statement sneakers – dying over the colorway on this pair.
