While I’ll never throw shade at a handmade card or macaroni necklace, what I really want for Mother’s Day is usually in the form of an experience — even if that “experience” is curling up on the porch, alone, with a book. (Chocolates or croissants with my coffee doesn’t hurt, either.)
But I do sometimes allow myself a little splurge on Mother’s Day, a little something special that I pick out just for me. And while we could all pretend it’s my gift from the boys, the added pressure of having to order something in advance, then sneak it to Mike or (good grief) wrap it myself would be the opposite of a gift.
Mother’s Day Gift Ideas For You Or Your Mom
If you are looking for the shopping equivalent of a self high-five (I firmly believe we should be celebrating ourselves), or if you’re looking for something thoughtful and giftable for your own mom (a few things she wouldn’t think to get herself), below are the items that are high on my personal Mother’s Day wishlist.
We partnered with Saks Fifth Avenue on this wishlist, which means all of my picks below can be found at Saks. (Trust me: this was no hardship.) And if you haven’t yet checked out Saks’ Mother’s Day Gift section, it’s beautiful. I keep finding new, enticing items: This swimsuit? Bed of nails???
Gahhhhhh soooo fun.

1. STAUD Vincent Maxi Shirtdress
I have this STAUD maxi shirtdress in a different color, bought last summer during my quest to find “shapeless dresses”. But the joke’s on me because this dress only feels shapeless. It’s actually sneaky flattering on (the model photo does NOT do it justice), and even my husband likes it. Made from 100% cotton, it’s the kind of dress you really can wear to everything.
2. Christian Dior Square Sunglasses
There’s just something about these gorgeous sunglasses by Christian Dior. The unapologetically big size? Probably. The unique color and glam gold frames? Definitely. The fact that Dior is always in style? Absofreakinglutely.
3. 14K Gold Initial Charm Bracelet
I love the delicate, barely-there feel of this sweet little bracelet. Oh! It’s currently on sale, too. I can’t decide if I want my first initial, my last initial, or my maiden-name initial.
4. Guerlain KissKiss Shine Bloom Lipstick Balm
Anything that calls itself “lipstick balm” is going to catch my eye, but frankly, they had me at KissKiss Shine Bloom. Marketing gold, right there.
5. Tom Ford Soleil Brulant Shimmer Oil
THIS. I have this body oil and it is…without exaggeration…absolute gold. The shimmer is subtle, and it makes your skin glow. But the scent is the thing: warm and summery and sooo good. It’s based on Tom Ford’s perfume of the same name.
6. Slip Silk Pillowcase
My mom, my sister and I have all tried other types of silk pillowcases (someone even tried satin) but nothing compares to the Slip brand. This pillowcase helps to reduce frizz, and, I swear it helps with wrinkles, too.
7. Le Labo Hand Soap
We have this exact bottle of hand soap in our master bathroom, and I’d be hard pressed to name anything that makes me as happy as often as this does. It’s a simple pleasure, but a daily one. Seriously an ahhhhh moment every time I use it.
8. Eliou Lotte 14K Gold-Plated Paperclip Chain Necklace
I love what a chunky gold necklace does for a t-shirt. Most days, this is my only accessory.
9. Gravity x Modernist Weighted Blanket
My sister loves her weighted blanket, and I’m picturing myself curled up on our porch, book in hand…under this weighted blanket. Bliss.
10. Le Labo Lys 41 Eau de Parfum
I have this exact perfume. I bought it after I chased a woman around a party because she smelled so good. And OMG!!! I just read the description (trying to come up with words to describe the scent) and this is literally what it says: “Lys 41 rewards those looking for a statement with an addictive floral buzz that is as potent as its wake and as insistent as the people following you around. Good luck.”
Hahahahaha SO TRUE.
11. Loeffler Randall Sonnie Woven Leather Slides
Chic, understated, but elevated. A bunch of the TME editors are all drooling over these Loeffler Randall slides.
12. Mother The Lil Good Cotton Graphic Tee
I love a good mom tee. And my boys would get a kick out of this one.
13. Ui Plus Self-Heating Mug Set
I left my self-heating mug in Vermont, and I’ve regretted it every morning since. These really make a big difference.
14. Diptyque Mimosa Candle
I keep trying to find other candles…but Diptyque really are the best. (And the jars, when the candle is used up, make beautiful storage containers, too,)
15. Andine Lulu Tank Top
I love a pretty pajama set, and love the vintage French vibes of this Lulu tank set. Made out of 100% cotton, too.
16. Andine Marcelle Shorts
The matching shorts to the Lulu tank!
17. Rebecca Minkoff Julian Demin-Leather Backpack
I keep trying to find a fancy backpack better than Minkoff’s Julian…and it doesn’t exist. Especially when the Julian has been redone in dark denim for a cool, ’70s vibe.
18. Charlotte Tilbury Lux Eye Shadow Palette
These Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow palettes are my very favorites. High-quality, blendable and long-lasting. This one in particular (‘The Sophisticate’) is the one I wear daily.
19. Charlotte Tilbury Collagen Lipbath
This collagen lipbath is another product I use daily. I love how moisturizing it is, and Tilbury’s colors in this line are a pretty solid range of “your lips, but better”.
20. Assouline Tuscany Marvel Book
The entire line of Assouline books is calling my name. Not only would they look gorgeous on a coffee table, but the photos inside are gorgeous and inspiring (especially if you love travel, fashion, fashion&travel). I could picture a Mother’s Day curled up with this book.
21. Marni x Veja Leather High-Top Sneakers
I’ve had my eye on this very exciting high-top collab for a while. Such a perfect blend of playful and cool.
22. Beyond Yoga One-Shoulder Cropped Tank
One-shoulder workout tops are so impossibly glam. I picture myself strolling out for coffee in this cropped tank and matching sweatpants.
23. Beyond Yoga Weekend Sweatpants
And…voila! The matching sweatpants.
Enjoy your day, Mamas.
