And so we close out our MONTH of Style Challenges with the final week of February results. What a freakin’ month it was (and true to form, we’re a liiiittle late with this late recap…OOPS). But thank you, folks, for playing along and really showing what this community is all about: style, fun, laughter, love and all of that good energy.
We also noticed that some of you have created your own style challenge for March! Keep it going!! And can we all just take a second to peek at the #TMEStyleChallenge hashtag on Instagram and revel in the gloriousness that this February was? Memories…
February TME Reader Style Challenge Week 4
I’m getting sentimental here for a moment. Someone queue up, (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life. It’s been so fun seeing everyone’s own interpretations of these challenges! I feel like we all learned a little more about how to wrangle the things in our closets. Right? Right?!
Whether it’s dancin’ in double denim or strapping on some heels just to walk to the kitchen, y’all tackled these challenges and more than happily shared the successes and the so-called fails on IG. We love it, we love you! OK, OK…end sentimental moment.
And one last time…congrats to Kayla (aka @kaylabfrost on IG)! You’re the random winner of the gift card this week! We’ll be in touch!
Day 22: Layer 3 Things Together
Coat | Cardigan | Jeans | Boots
I’ll just say it. I LOVE layers. This challenge was made for me. Gimme all the cardigan, top, and jacket combos. Gimme the winter-wear layered over winter-wear layered over winter-wear. Gimme the button-down under a sweater under a blazer. And it doesn’t always have to be clothes. I spotted a few people layering bracelets and necklaces in this challenge. Layering is such an easy way to add a little oomf to an outfit, too. Case-in-point, this colorful powerhouse of an outfit Julieta put together.
Day 23: Wear A Hat Inside
Beanie | Sweater | Bag | Joggers | Boots
Whether you’re reppin’ a favorite school or rocking something a little more indie-chic inspired, I feel like everyone loves a good hat. They can top (ha) off an outfit or hide some hair that’s y’know….a little sweaty from the latest workout. We love a good hat. Currently channeling the same beanie energy as Emily for this challenge, though. Still a bit chilly out here.
Day 24: Get Fancy
Hey, Wednesday, are you ready to get fancy? Jess sure was. Y’all busted out the ballgowns and sequins for this challenge, and I’m here to give you a standing ovation for the LOOKS that were served. Can we also give a little attention to these amazing “Ziggy Stardust” boots @ther_saenz wore with a sequined AND fringed jacket? O. M. G. Good stuff here people. GOOD STUFF.
Day 25: Use A Curling Iron
Honestly, Meredith’s IGTV tutorial on how to style beach waves with a flat iron couldn’t have come at a better time. I’m with all of you who agreed we’re a bit directionally challenged when it comes to twisting the iron and more often than not, I end up with curls more Shirley Temple-esque than soft sexy beach babe. Some day I’ll be on the level of “a quick pass with the iron” and walk out with some wavey goodness. For now, I will watch from afar as you all rock them curls.
Day 26: Try A Random Hair Accessory
Headbands, scrunchies, clips…bring it all! Scrunchies are back and we are loving it! I just feel like they’re gentler on my hair than the traditional hair-tie. Some of you got that double clip action going and others worked a headband. And some got more out of the ordinary with flowers or cat ears. Love, love, love.
Day 27: Button Down Under A Sweater
Sweater | Necklaces | Button Down | Jeans | Sandals
Y’know this challenge was pretty…fancy for a Saturday. But it felt kinda nice to get all dressed up for me, myself, and the TME community. To quote @life_as_a_magpie on IG, “…it’s nice to still be able to throw something together, and reminisce about prancing into an office building with my heels”. Bust out the blazer, slip on some heels, button up that collar or leave it open to flirt with your at-home office coworker (wink, wink).
Day 28: Wear Double Denim
Button Down | Jeans | UGGs
Ahhh, the good old Canadian tuxedo. Honestly, I think this was my personal favorite of the challenge. Just hard enough that you had to give the denim a good think, but do-able. We like do-able. To match the wash, or not match the wash? To go full distressed damsel or something more chic? To embrace the cowboy lewk or go more lumberjack-esque. So many options — all of them denim.
I’ve said pretty much all that needs to be said I think…I waxed poetically about you all. I made a Dirty Dancing reference. I guess all that’s left to do is sign off on the last wrap-up for our February Style Challenge. Good work, everyone. Have a good March!
xoxo,
Team TME
