My Ultimate Winter Uniform: Baggy Jeans, Black Sweater And…Adidas

I haven’t worn a classic, hip-length puffer for a minute. As denim styles loosened, I started swapping my hip-length puffers for either cropped puffer jackets…or something below the knee. These proportions seemed to work better for my everyday winter uniform of baggy jeans + black cashmere sweater (turtleneck, obvi). Granted, this solution wasn’t perfect. I don’t always want to wear a long puffer jacket, and cropped puffers aren’t always as toasty.

Happily, I think Adidas just cracked the code for a fresh, modern spin on the hip-length puffer.

The key, I think, is the unapologetic puffiness of Adidas’ Big Baffle Jacket. Instead of trying to go the long-and-lean route, which, frankly, feels a little dated, Adidas embraced the volume, with, as they put it, “ultra-puffy, insulated baffles for ultimate warmth”. And guys….I love it.

My Winter Uniform: Adidas Big Baffle Jacket, Platform Gazelles & Baggy Jeans

I always appreciate when I find pieces that seamlessly integrate into my existing wardrobe. And by “existing wardrobe,” as mentioned, it’s just jeans & a black turtleneck. 😉

In addition to the “big baffles”, I really like some of the sophisticated details here, too. The unapologetically matte black color (yasss), the ever-so-slightly-off-center zipper, as well as the chest pocket. It’s a pocket that would look equally at home on a dress shirt.

This jacket is also water repellant, and made from 70% recycled materials. It’s incredibly warm, yet lightweight and cozy. One reviewer compared it to a cloud and they’re not wrong – it’s the loftiness, I suspect. This jacket is just long enough to make a real difference in warmth (compared to my usual cropped puffers), but isn’t so long that it feels like TOO MUCH COAT. Ya know? Available in sizes XXS – 2XL, and fits TTS (I’m wearing my usual size small).

That said, if you need a Major Winter Coat (*cough*Chicago*cough), this exact jacket does come in a full-length version as well (again – click through to see the cool pockets).

To complete my winter uniform (jeans, sweater, puffer), it’s almost always sneakers – at least in Philly. While I do typically wear winter boots in Vermont, Philly has been getting so little snow these last few years that sneakers are still what I reach for the most.

I happen to own a ton of Adidas sneakers, Gang, and while I love the look of my low profile Sambas, the pair I wear the most – hands down – are my Gazelle Bolds.

Not only does the platform give me a little height, but they have the squishiest insole of all of my sneakers, and are absolutely bananas comfortable – right out of the box. I literally walked over a mile in these sneakers immediately after receiving them in the mail. Literally zero break-in required.

Black may be the more practical choice (I do own a black pair of Gazelle bolds already – they’re great), but I can’t get over how happy this bright pair makes me. Especially as someone who – as I’ve said over & over – just wears jeans & black sweaters all winter long.

It’s not a whole big outfit overhaul…just a little tweak, I guess.

Interesting Winter Coats From Adidas

If you haven’t checked out Adidas’ line of winter coats, you’re in for a treat. Not only do they have all legit tech specs, but they’re all, like, cool. Especially if you’re looking for something a little *different* from the usual.

A huge thank-you to Adidas for sponsoring this post! I’m a longtime fan, and love that Adidas pieces are both so freaking cool and so incredibly practical (at least for my lifestyle). As always, all thoughts, opinions, and product choices are my own. And readers, thank you for your continued support. It doesn’t go unnoticed, and is so very much appreciated.

  1. Tell us about your baggie jeans featured in this adidas post.

    • Omggggg you guys are so nice. The hair has been just…ya know. Washed and dried. And I added lipstick suddenly because I was feeling a little old and tired. Thanks for noticing – made my day. xoxoxo

  2. I think this is a very cute look. The shoes are really cute, I love the colors. I was wondering, can you ladies please do a post about socks? Your favorite brands to wear and how to style. This is for my Mom, not me.

  3. Hey Shana–I ordered the “hold my purse” wash labeled medium and they actually look darker than yours. I see how they did some fading on your thigh area, the ones I have are solid. I am not sure what to do…I was not looking for a dark wash, but just wanting people to know they are sometimes off with the wash names imo. I am used to lighter denim with holes lol. but they are so dang comfy!!!

  4. I think since you got your colors done, you’ve been wearing great colors! For clothes & lipstick. You are shining! Will you ever write about your color analysis?
