During the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this past summer, one question we received over & over & over again was this: which months does Nordstrom use to determine cardholder status (Icon, Insider, Influencer or Ambassador) during the Anni Sale? This cardholder status is directly tied to the day we’re able to shop the sale, so many inquiring minds wanted to know.
After placing a few calls, we learned that cardholder status during the Anniversary Sale is based on how much you spent in the calendar year before. Which means…your Nordstrom cardholder level for next year’s sale will depend on how much you spent from Jan 1, 2020 – Dec 31, 2020.
Get Early Access To The NSale By Scoring Nordstrom Points Now
So. If you’re a Nordy Club Rewards member, and you’re looking to reach a higher Nordy Club tier this year (aka Nordstrom cardholder status such as Icon, Insider, Influencer or Ambassador), consider this a small PSA: you have until the end of December to build up points.
Reaching a higher Nordy Club tier allows you to shop the annual Nordstrom Anniversary Sale earlier than the general public — and having early access to one of the best sales ever does make a difference. Depending on your Nordstrom cardholder status, you’ll not only receive access to the sale days earlier than the general public, but also days earlier than the tier(s) below yours. For example, during the last sale, Icons were invited to start shopping a full three days before Ambassadors, and so on down to Insiders, and finally the general public.
Since Nordy Club status includes purchases from January 1 to December 31, think of this as that last sprint to potentially improve your chances of snagging the best items during the NSale. First off, find out how close you are to the next tier by clicking on Nordy Club in the sidebar while logged in to your Nordstrom Account (thanks, Linz!). Then scroll down to “Ready to Level Up.” This handy tool will adjust as you buy and return items. Check out our how to shop the Anniversary Sale article if you’re looking for some more info. Below is a little infographic going over exactly how you can earn Nordstrom points and get rewards. Head over to The Nordy Club page for all of the nitty gritty info & to join the points program or to apply for a Nordstrom credit card.
7 Worthwhile Purchases To Make At Nordstrom Now
If you’re looking to boost those points in the month that we have left of the year, I have seven really good lists to get you inspired.
Also, until December 21, you’ll receive a $15 promo card to use on purchases in-store or online when you choose curbside or in-store pick up. Learn how to use curbside pickup in our post of participating retailers here. Nordstrom also offers free gift wrap if you BOPIS (Buy Online, Pickup in Store.)
More good info: Today is Giving Tuesday. Nordstrom has a goal of giving back an additional $1M during this holiday season to four foundations: Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Good+Foundation, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America, and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Canada. Learn more here.
1/ Durable & Cute Winter Boots
Because…duh. It’s snow time. A good pair of winter boots is extremely necessary if you live somewhere with harsh (or harsh-ish) winters. You won’t regret grabbing a pair early on in the season so you don’t get caught off guard when you blink and there’s two feet of snow and ice and all you have are Birkenstocks.
2/ Teddy Coats Under $200
Such great gifts for friends & family — especially at those prices. These super-warm & wearable coats are popular pretty much every winter, making them basically a closet staple and something your gift recipient (or you) will wear over and over. My favorites are the cropped ones, like the Free People Teddy Jacket, but the long ones add a bit of that comfy and cozy but elegant look.
3/ Staple Cashmere Sweaters
This list is a golden one. Cashmere is a serious topic at TME, we don’t mess around when it comes to the best picks. The nine in this list are sure to give you that luscious, buttery, worth-it feeling, right after you slip one over your head.
4/ Splurge-Worthy Beauty Tools
These tools are splurge-worthy for a reason. Like a “Goodbye forever, blowouts.” or a “Wrinkles? What are wrinkles again?” kind of reason. ICYMI, Scotti reviewed the Dr. Gross face mask here. Worth it.
5/ Luxe Self Care
The reviews (and surely the prices) of these little pots and bottles will knock your socks off. (Oh, as far as the La Mer cream goes… it does come in smaller, less expensive sizes. Thank Goodness.) The purpose of this post is to build your points, OK??? Why not do it…all at once… with a moisturizer? Ha.
6/ Fancy Kitchen Updates
Ohhhh yes. My true heaven. I have an affinity for cool kitchen appliances and a whole bunch of my favorites made it onto this list. It’s a really good (and aesthetically pleasing) one. P.S. If you were ever looking for a sign to order that SMEG Electric Kettle, this is it.
7/ Super Cool Tech
Everyone and their mother wants a Theragun this year for Christmas. They look seriously incredible, so I get it. Tech toys that have purpose (no offense remote control cars, but you have no place here) make them so much more fun to get as a gift, as you know you’ll get some use out of them even if you wouldn’t necessarily buy one for yourself. These items would make killer gifts, especially for a homebody (which… is pretty much everyone nowadays?).
Check out our Nordstrom Looks page for some really good outfit & gift ideas, every day.
I hope I gave you some inspo to make those Nordy Points surge a little (or a lot).
