The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Preview is officially out, so let’s talk BEAUTY. The NSale is when I stock up on old favorites, but also a good time try new skincare products or even treat myself to a little something…splurge-worthy.
For example, La Mer’s famous moisturizing cream is over $600(!!) off (I just choked a little at that price), and reviewers love it. But if your splurge is more of an under-$200 kind of thing (raises hand), I’m snapping up this.
From my tried-and-true favorites (the hair styler I swear by, the shower oil I buy every year during the sale, the lash and brow conditioner that saved my brows and lashes) to a few new products I’ve been hoping to try (Necessaire and OSEA, I’m looking at you), Nordstrom has a pretty solid selection of beauty deals this year.
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2023 Beauty Must-Haves: Hair, Makeup + Skincare
After digging through every page of NSale Beauty Exclusives (it was a labor of love, let’s be honest), I landed on 17 products worth sharing. I referenced some of my top beauty picks from last year (yup, they’re back), and rounded up a few more that our editors swear by.
Is The Dyson Airwrap & Supersonic Hair Dryer In The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale & Are They Worth It?
Before we really get into things, however, we’ve gotta address the elephant in the room: Is a Dyson Airwrap finally in the Nsale?
Well…kind of. Both the Dyson Airwrap and Dyson Hair Dryer are technically included in the sale, but it looks as though the cool red color is the only exclusive part. The actual price remains the same–they’re both currently available on Dyson.com for that exact price, with the same attachments. (In fact, the Dyson Supersonic Dryer is currently $100 off at Dyson.com in the specific Vinca-Blue-Rosé colorway.) Sephora also usually includes them in their twice-a-year sales events, but by the time the sale starts for the public (non-VIBs), they’re usually sold out.
That said, I personally think the Dyson Dryer is worth the cost because it literally saved my hair after years of bleaching and breaking off (and even more reasons here). It dries my hair faster and with much less damage than other dryers. I can ALMOST get away with not straightening it after (something I could NEVER do with the ball of frizz other dryers cause!).
As far as the Airwrap goes, I tried it and didn’t love it — BUT I think it’s amazing for longer hair (Shana and Gwen both LOVE it).
Now that that’s out of the way, there are a ton of exclusive beauty picks to choose from!
*Adds to cart* (and as a reminder — Early Access shopping begins 7/11! More deets in Our Ultimate Guide To The NSale)
Not too pink, not too brown, Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk is the ideal shade to use on a daily basis. (It also goes really well with a more dramatic smokey eye!) This set comes with a full-size liner, lipstick and gloss — a $92 value for $62.
I love this shower oil, and buy it every annually during the sale. (It lasts me all year!) It smells amazing, keeps skin hydrated, and is a great alternative to shaving cream. It cleanses gently so your skin feels super-soft with just a subtle scent that’s not overwhelming. Love the eco-friendly refill that comes in this set!
3. Dr. Dennis Gross Collagen Boosting Essentials Set (aka The Holy Grail Mask)
THIS. This LED light therapy mask from Dr. Dennis Gross promises to smooth wrinkles, firm skin, diminish discoloration and clear acne. And while it IS crazy expensive, now that I’ve tried it (two years and going strong!), I can tell you it’s 100% worth every penny. (I just compare it to how much more expensive this kind of treatment would be at the dermatologist office.) And although this set is the same price the mask alone usually is, this exclusive set comes with a Retinol eye serum, Vitamin C face cream and an Alpha Beta peel. (Check out my before and after pictures in this post.)
Both Shana and Amy highly recommend Necessaire products. They offer clean beauty products that are climate-neutral certified, and are upfront with their sustainability efforts. Amy says she loves this Body Wash because of her dry skin. “It’s especially soothing after drying out your skin under the sun or in the ocean all day!”
Kat says Westman Atelier is “the Chanel of clean beauty” and loves the quality of this makeup. This set comes with a blush stick, tinted highlighter, and lip palette with four shades in a matte suede texture. Shana is especially excited to try it out. It’s also cruelty-free and formulated without sulfates, phthalates, parabens, petrochemicals, mineral oil, silicone or talc.
I bought this face serum last year (during the sale) after it came highly recommended and fell in LOVE with it — I will definitely be buying this again. It really does brighten up skin, evens texture, and just helps you look more…radiant. (Reviewers love it too!) This size is a whopping $100 OFF during the sale!
Briogeo is a Black-owned business that Kat says “was founded by an incredible boss babe who has completely changed the haircare game. Her products are amazing because they are designed for a variety of hair types, which is rare to find.” Kat swears by Briogeo’s products for curls and Shana says this is the anti-dandruff shampoo her husband and boys love. This set comes with a scalp massager too (and is the only way she can get Pax to wash his hair). 😂
These SLIP Silk Pillowcases save your hair from damage and your skin from wrinkles as you sleep. It keeps skin smoother and more hydrated, and the scrunchies are super gentle on hair. (Also available in white.)
I recently purchased the Double Shot Blow-Dryer (not on sale), and found it to be 100% worth every penny. It gets rid of all the weird kinks and waves in my hair, adds volume, and straightens without needing a straightener/hair dryer duo. Here’s the catch — your hair needs to be almost completely dry before you use it or else you risk hair breakage. For avoiding breakage, the Dyson is still my first pick.
A $56 value for $38, these lip balms come in two iconic shades that leave just a hint of color and shine and seriously hydrated lips. (And they would pair perfectly with NARS best-selling orgasm blush, also in the sale at 2 for $20— a $64 value!)
Better Than Sex is the mascara I used on all of my brides and bridesmaids when I was doing wedding makeup, and Amy loves it too. It gives crazy volume and lasts forever without running all over the place.
I’ve been using Oribe’s texturizing spray for years and LOVE it. It absorbs oil at the roots without leaving powdery residue like dry shampoos and gives the best volume and texture ever. (Plus it smells amazing.) A $98 value for $74.
This styler helped my damaged hair recover from a ton of bleaching. It has heat predictive technology so it can smooth hair with less damage, and the rounded plates mean you can use it for straightening, waving and curling. The ceramic plates don’t snag on your hair but glide through pretty easily to seal the cuticle–which makes it look shiny and healthy (even if it’s not). (Watch this video to see how I use it to make waves and this one to see how I use it to straighten.)
You guys, these two products 100% work. I basically had no eyebrows from over-plucking and no lashes from lash extensions before I started using Revitalash, and now I can even get away without filling in my brows or wearing mascara every day. I will 100% continue to purchase these (especially during the Anniversary sale price of two for one!) because I had such good results with them. (Check out before and after pictures in this post.)
Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks are easy to apply and blend using just your fingers. This is the fastest eye look I’ve ever done, and once they set, they stay on without smudging or creasing. I used these every day at the beach in North Carolina with no smudging. LOVE this stuff.
Kat says “I promise you, this OSEA set will give your skin such a luxurious glow, it’ll put you in the mood.” The team has been raving about OSEA products for awhile now…and Amy also recommends the ‘anti-aging’ body balm, which I OBVIOUSLY must try.
This powder reflects light to blur imperfections, but isn’t super shimmery. It reduces shine, yet doesn’t create a chalky finish. It’s 100% talc-free and feels weightless on your skin. Also, this set comes with a dual-ended brush that’s perfect for applying under the eyes and over the entire face. While the set is $74, the product together would be $114 if purchased separately. You can see it on my tired mom face here (ooh and check out those brows before Revitalash! 😂)
Let me know if there’s something fabulous I’m missing–I’m always up for trying new beauty products, especially during this sale!
