So, we did something different and broke down our faves in each category – jackets + coats, jeans, sweaters + tops, shoes + boots, dresses + skirts.

1. Barbour Hebrides Waterproof Long Coat

Shana says: “This waterproof trench is freaking amazing. I bought it last year, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite pieces. It vibes like a trench (feels like one, too), but with a more forgiving, slightly swingy shape, and layers beautifully over thick sweaters. The hood is detachable, and I love that it can be fastened up with either buttons or the zipper (having both is a really nice touch – and the places brands often cut corners). It’s also legitimately waterproof.“

Shana says: “Yup, the Barbour Suri is just as good as I had hoped. The fit is pretty TTS. While the US 4 fit just fine…I preferred the US6 (my usual size) to get that perfectly oversized look.“

3. Lamarque Wool Coat

Shana says: “This 100% wool coat from LaMarque is…wow. It’s a WOW. Super soft, with the most delicious drape, I was completely blown away. I’m wearing the size small and it’s plenty roomy to fit over bulky sweaters. I probably could’ve sized down one size, but I do love the volume here.“

“My only issue is that the ivory is stunning, but…so is the brown. And this particular brown made my skin glow (which is weird, because brown typically doesn’t do that)…but it also made Linzi’s skin glow, too. I’m more cool-toned (think: pink shrimp, haha) and Linz is warmer, so that only makes sense if this coat is MAGIC. You can draw your own conclusions.“
4. AllSaints Clay Suede Jacket

Shana says: “This jacket is soft, comfortable and absolutely STUNNING in person. The khaki green color is beautiful (and reads more green than the Nordstrom photos show) and I couldn’t be more thrilled. I’m wearing a size small, and it’s roomy enough to fit over bulky sweaters. Also, the drawstring cinches if you’d like to change the shape.“
Jess says: “This AllSaints Ryder Suede Jacket is somehow even BETTER than I thought it would be. The only jacket I’ll be wearing for the foreseeable future.“

Shana says: “Gang, the browns in this sale are SO good: the Faherty sweater, the LaMarque scarf coat and now…this Vince puffer. It’s an absolute stunner, and the detachable knit collar is so French-girl-cool.“

Shana says: “Good grief AllSaints! The slightly reddish-brown, the flirty little almost-a-peplum/almost-a-ruffle – this leather jacket is soooo fun to wear. It’s also lighter and thinner than you’d expect (in a good way), and the leather is SO soft and smooth. If you sometimes find leather jackets overwhelming…this one is NOT.“

Em says: “This Avec Les Filles Denim Bomber looks promising on the model, but the biggest, most pleasant surprise is that it’s actually so much more impactful – and so much more comfortable than it looks! – in person. It’s softer, lighter and more voluminous than I was expecting, and the result is a piece that adds so much character and interest to the most basic of outfits without the stiffness or bulk of some denim jackets. All for what feels like a really fair price point at $119 (on sale).“
8. Reiss Kai Check Wool Blend Bouclé Coat

Linzi says: “This year, I was SET on bringing home a fabulous brown check or herringbone overcoat. I tried several on in store, and although the Ralph Lauren coat fit my 5’2 frame better (and was less expensive), the Reiss came home with me. It just felt more like the “real deal”…the bouclé, loopy texture and mix of colors felt really special. It’s a “lot” of coat (heavier and more substantial than my usual lightweight comfy cozy coatigans), but I love the classic style.“

Shana says: “The Levi’s are classic 501’s, but I went up a couple of sizes to get a really slouchy fit (I still need to hack them off with scissors – they’re too long). I will never not love me some super destroyed denim (especially Levi’s) and THIS is exactly why: it does wonders for super preppy pieces.“

In fact, I do have about that many at the moment, which is perhaps the only reason I’m debating keeping these. The fit is super classic: straight with authentic destruction, a mid-to-high rise and a great booty that’s not skin tight. Wearing my true size here. If you want a little grungier, tomboy fit, size up one (or even two).“

Em says: “Holy hell. These Levi’s Ribcage High Waist Wide Leg Jeans are buttery soft thanks to my favorite fabrication of cotton and lyocell, with a high, comfortable fit that almost feels like stretch. Great drape, super easy to dress up or down. Trousery but also…just a great pair of jeans?“
Note that these run super long if you’re on the shorter side. I give you: Shana for example (haha)…

Shana went with the 29 and the fit nailed it. That deep fall-ready wash, plenty of give, comfortable enough to live in…hands down some of the comfiest jeans we pulled this whole sale. Snug and supportive without ever digging in.
Fair warning: they run loooooong (longest of the bunch, no contest), so Shana’s planning to hem hers. The 78% cotton, 16% modal, 4% polyester, 2% elastane blend is what gives them that hold-their-shape stretch the brand’s known for.

Shana says: “I actually own this Faherty rugby shirt in another colorway and freaking LOVE it. So when I saw that it was in the Nsale (in several different colors) I was THRILLED. I sized up for extra slouch/arm length. Faherty Brand, btw, is owned by the coolest wife-and-husband team, and their stuff is always really thoughtfully designed and really high-quality. I love it.“
2. Faherty Fisherman Cotton Sweater

Shana says: “I can always count on Faherty for some seriously cool, really well made, everyday pieces. I love that this particular sweater is made from 100% organic cotton, with a cool, boyish fit and tons of texture. This sweater is available in three colors, but the brown is my favorite – it’s so rich. It’s thin and drapey and – arguably – one of THE MOST underrated pieces in the entire sale. I couldn’t believe how good it is in person!“

Linzi says: “This 100% cashmere hoodie is my repeat purchase every.single.year when the new colors come out (it’s that good). I’ve tried so many different cashmere hoodies, but I keep coming back to this one. Wildly soft, perfectly slouchy, and not at all fussy. Great on its own, but also cute layered under jackets and sweater-coats.“

Shana says: “The ONE PIECE that shocked me the most – in this entire try-on!! – are these Vionic flats. They are beyond comfortable. The footbed is some sort of cork-feeling thing, they have arch support and they *almost* feel like I’m wearing Birkenstocks. That said, a word of warning: the mary jane strap is velcro. This bothered me zero, but I know some feel strongly about it.“

The heel is as high as I’d ever be willing to go, but I am willing because the footbed is padded, squishy, and suuuuuper comfortable. These boots also feel a little more modern than most ankle boots. Highly recommend.“

Laura says: “These were on my wishlist from the get-go and I’m so glad they were in store. Are they bold? Yes, but if you’ve been around here a minute you know I love a good animal print. And these are so freaking comfortable. They look cute under wide leg jeans, too. They’re actually a tapestry type fabric and they’re soft on the legs and freaking rad. I wound up having to go up to a 9 here (I’m currently an 8.5 in pointed boots) because that’s all they had in-store and they’re roomy but not giant. They’ll be great with insoles or thicker socks, so I’d suggest going up ½ size.“

True to size and very comfortable.“

Linzi says: “Soft, stretchy, and comfortable, this is a nice budget-friendly dress to have in your closet for those black dress occasions. I like the classic feel, but with the subtle asymmetrical neckline that gives it a little something extra. I’m typically a small, but I’m wearing an XS here. It works thanks to the stretchy fabric, though I’d probably go with my usual small for a little more room and drape.“
