I’ve got cozy on the brain because this weekend we’re going to visit the in-laws in Minneapolis for an early Christmas. The kids think we’re going to the North Pole, but joke’s on us because it’s actually warmer in the arctic circle than the midwest right now! When we get back and thaw out, I’ll be wearing this fun sweatshirt and festive sweater leggings on repeat. Especially on Christmas morning and, if we’re being honest, the rest of the day since I’m not leaving the house! We make the rounds on Christmas Eve, then get to stay warm and cozy all day on the 25th – the benefit of having the only grandkids is that my parents come here for present opening and lots of food that seems to merge into one day long meal. This is a great outfit combo for staying in, but if you’ll be staying over with family or friends during the holidays, it’s guest-appropriate, too!
Have you guys heard of the Scandinavian tradition of sprinkling birdseed on your front steps on Christmas morning to bring good luck in the new year? I hadn’t either until this year; it’s so sweet and I think will be fun to incorporate as our little family starts building our own traditions.
We decided to make it rain birdseed when politely sprinkling got boring.
Wearing
sweatshirt – Slouchy Graphic Sweatshirt, Etsy: I’m wearing a Large, so size up if you want it to be off the shoulder slouchy. I customized this one to say “iced tea” instead of “coffee, wifi & my bed”-my 3 other favorite things. Sometimes the only three depending on the day #mamaneedsavacation
leggings – AE Soft Sweater Legging in Red: I’ve been wearing these on repeat since getting them. If you want them to fit like leggings size down, they stretch during wear to fit more like joggers. On sale under 25!
hat – American Eagle, sold out but similar and this pretty textured one’s on sale, 40% off today!: Soft and cozy, love the oversized pom pom!
slippers – Ugg Ansley Water Resistant Slippers: Warm and comfy classics. Since they’re water-resistant, I can wear them to walk out to the school bus in the AM. These quite literally don’t leave my feet for three seasons.
I found a bunch of comfy, fun sweatshirts that are PC-enough to wear around family, and toasty sweater leggings to go with.

Baby girl packed her own bag for the trip, she’s ready to go! This adorable little backpack Joules sent over is the perfect size for her packing essentials: one plastic banana, 2 wet wipes and half a bag of Pirate’s Booty. (Here’s a panda version, the kitty seems to be sold out everywhere) So cute when she pretends she’s going to school like big sis.

Sienna said “It’s a kitty backpack!!” And…I ADORE oxford commas.
Do your sweater leggings stay up once they stretch out some? Does the elastic band in the top sit above your hip bones? Thanks!
Hi Megan – yes, the waistband has elastic inside plus a tie, it’s more in the knee/thigh that it loosens up. The rise is good – you can pull it above your hip bones or push down, I’d say definitely mid-rise. Hope that helps!
I love those leggings. During the holidays i practically live in leggings or athletic wear. Certainly will be wearing leggings all day Christmas. I love the bird seed idea, the blue jays will love it too. Happy Holidays!!
