I’m crazy for plaid this week, y’all. It’s not a surprise this time of year, sure, but if you’re gonna invest, you might as well get the most out of your pieces. I’ve been wearing this blazer tee combo all the time and next up? A cool pair of comfy plaid pants.
Lately I’ve been on the search for good plaid pants that I can throw on with sneakers. I LOVE this combo. But it’s been tricky to find a flattering plaid to wear on my lower half. You don’t wanna go costume-y with large plaid or houndstooth (that can also make you look wider); instead I want to find a nice classic print that would be pretty timeless. I’m impressed with this pair I found at the Gap. They’re stretchy, are in a flattering small plaid print and are comfy to wear. So, I styled them up for work and weekend this time.
Cute Plaid Pants Outfit For Work
This look is oh-so-fall and oh-so-comfy. Grab an orangey brown sweater and pair it with a nice boot in a neutral suede. The suede is so rich and pretty for fall, but this pair has minimal western detailing, making them still office o-k. The sweater I have is a little bit tricky to tuck in, but I love love the color. A half-tuck would also work, or you can go for more of a cropped cardigan version like this one. So cute!
Sweater // Super cute and cozy, but maybe a little oversized for wearing like this. The half-tuck here didn’t look as polished for the office as more of a full tuck did, so I tried to make it work. I’m loving this cardigan though!
Pants // (6P) – Super cute and a nice flattering, small plaid print. I like the length of the petite pair on me. They have some stretch, but still feel like dress pants, not knit pants. Here’s a plus-size option in a cute tie waist style.
Boots // I wear these almost as often as my high tops. They’ve been such a great closet staple! Easily wearable and walkable, but not a ton of cushion inside. Consider sizing up and/or adding an insert for lots of walking. They go so well with every pair of jeans and pants I own though.
Bag // an old standby. My favorite style of purse ever. Easy-use and you’re hands-free with these. They’re still chic though unlike your typical backpack. Love.
Cool Plaid Pants Outfit For Weekend
One of my forever favorite combos is preppy pieces paired with sportswear. I love love this look for any weekend occasion or for everyday casual. This outfit is comfy enough for travel, but still looks pulled together. I’ll be sporting this on the regular all fall. My trick to finding a good sweatshirt that doesn’t look sloppy is to stick with a graphic sweatshirt for more interesting impact, and one that isn’t too oversized to show off your waist and make it look more intentional and flattering.
Sweatshirt // (s) – I wear this ALL of the time. It’s not too big, not too cropped and feels way more rad than your average sweatshirt. I have a small obsession with tigers on my clothing, and I’m OK with it.
Pants // (6P) – Super cute and a nice flattering, small plaid print. I like the length of the petite pair on me. They have some stretch but still feel like dress pants, not knit pants. Here’s a plus-size option in a cute tie waist style.
Bag (similar and GORG) // – Y’all have asked about this fun metallic tote since last year, and I was excited to find a similar gorgeous bag at Anthro. It’s such a fun piece to add a little bling to any outfit.
