A Resort Packing List for Puerto Morelos, Mexico

Look, I’m an Adventurous Vacationer Girlie through and through. I like to get the most bang for my buck by packing in as much activity as physically possible while on a trip. A vacation just doesn’t feel quite right without at least one day that ends with my feet bleeding from accidentally walking nine miles after getting lost searching for some historical hole-in-the-wall in a city I know next to nothing about.

That’s why I *almost* felt guilty going the resort route when my mom and I were discussing plans for my 40th birthday trip. What do you mean I can drink mimosas all day by the pool? What do you mean I don’t have to take three planes, two trains and four taxis (while lugging a 50lb bag) to reach my destination?? A massage..for me??? Well, YES, don’t mind if I do.

And, I take it back, I don’t feel guilty at all.

17 Pieces I’d Pack For A Resort Vacation: Puerto Morelos, Mexico

This list is a combination of pieces I own (my beloved AGOLDE Parker Shorts, this gorg linen scoopneck dress + my Kindle Paperwhite, of course), pieces I desperately want (that STAUD Leather Moon bag + BR’s pleated poplin jumpsuit) and pieces we all on the TME team love (these waterproof Okaui slides + Shana and I’s fav Madewell cropped striped linen tank). All that’s missing is the mimosas.

1. Le Specs Oval Sunglasses

These Le Specs sunnies are sooo much fun. They have the perfect vacay vibe and also come in an ‘ecru’ color that I am equally loving.

2. Banana Republic Pleated Jumpsuit

Jumpsuit

Lordy, lordy. Just as soon as I think I couldn’t possibly need another jumpsuit, Banana Republic comes out with this absolute stunner. It just stopped me in my tracks. The bodice and waist detailing is just so minimalistic and cool. It also comes in black.

3. STAUD Leather Moon Bag

STAUD Leather Moon Bag

This Staud Leather Moon Bag is the number one bag I’ve been eyeing for so long. It’s at the top of my Most Coveted list and I guarantee that one day, I will come up with a good enough excuse to justify buying this for myself. (Even when my closet is already overflowing with bags.) Plus, it truly compliments the BR jumpsuit and the linen scoop neck Quince dress I also want to take on my trip.

4. Supergoop! Glow Duo

Supergoop! sunscreen, SPF, vacation packing list

Supergoop! Glow Duo

Supergoop! sunscreen is a must-have for me on vacation. Jon and I go through one of the huge 18oz Play Everyday Lotion SPF 50 Sunscreens every summer. And then I discovered their Glow Screen and Glow Stick SPF and I am a huge fan of the dewy look it gives my skin.

5. Madewell Scoop Neck Cropped Tank

Madewell cropped scoop neck tank

Cropped Tank

One of my immediate regrets after my Madewell Try-on was not taking this top home with me. Thank goodness, I now have a very valid excuse to go back and get it! The fit: slightly cropped and flattering. The feel: soft and breathable. Yay. Perfect to pair with my AGOLDE Parker denim cutoffs.

6. AGOLDE Parker Long High-Waist Cutoff Shorts

AGOLDE Parker Denim Cutoff Shorts

Shorts

I didn’t think it was possible to love my AGOLDE Parker shorts more until I realized there was a longer option! Recently, I’ve been feeling much more comfortable in the longer pair. But they are still my ultimate summer shorts, and I’m not sure I can be convinced to find a different option because I love them so much.

7. Brixton’s Jo Straw Rancher Hat

Rancher Hat

When it comes to stylish straw hats, Brixton is definitely one of the best. I love the grosgrain ribbon trim topper on this Jo Straw Rancher Hat, and it also comes in a black trim option that is just as cute.

8. Kindle Paperwhite

Kindle Paperwhite, vacation packing list

Kindle Paperwhite

I’ve got BIG plans for me and my Kindle on this trip, spending some good quality time together by the pool. I’ve even got my reading list started already: The Secret Life of Sunflowers by Marta Molnar and The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer BUT I’m always open to any recommendations. If you have a fav I should read, lemme know in the comments!

9A. Athleta Square Neck Bikini Top

Bikini Top

The older I get, the pickier I become about my swimsuits. For me, when it comes to bikini tops, it’s all about support and coverage (and style, of course). I love this Athleta bikini top because it meets both criteria, and the style is a chic basic that comes in a bunch of different colors. I am really loving square neck and scoop neck options this summer.

9B. Athleta High-Waist Bikini Bottoms

Athleta bikini bottoms

Bikini Bottoms

For bikini bottoms, it comes down to two needs: high-waist and tummy control. And these Athleta High-Waist Bikini Bottoms check both of those boxes. I also love the waist seaming on Athleta’s Ultra High Waist Bottoms (and it has a pocket!). I am currently deciding between the two…which would you pick?

10. Olukai Hila Water-Resistant Slide Sandal

Olukai water-resistant slide sandals, what to pack for vacation, packing list

Slide Sandals

As someone who is a big fan of Anine Bing’s Lizzie Slides – these OluKai Hila Slides are really appealing to me. Plus, they are water-resistant! I had a similar pair of Steve Madden sandals until my dog Gus got ahold of them, so maybe it’s time to reinvest in these for Mexico. You’ve probably seen a few others on team TME hyping up this brand – we’re fans.

11. Pareo Indian Hand Block Print Cotton Sarong

Amazon cotton sarong

Cotton Beach Sarong

I LOVE a good sarong for vacation. They are so versatile as a coverup, a lightweight evening shawl, etc. There are so many affordable and super pretty print options on Amazon but this blue one is my pick for this trip. Under $20!

12. Kopari Rose Gold SPF 45

Kopari SPF, vacation packing list

Kopari Rose Gold Spf 45

I’m trying to get my glow on during this vacation and Kopari’s Rose Gold SPF 45 has been in my cart since it came out. It’s packed with minerals and vitamins to make your skin look luscious (while protecting it at the same time!) and the reviews are outstanding.

13. AllSaints Allington Straw Tote

AllSaints straw tote, beach bag

Straw Tote

This has been my dream beach bag for over two years, ya’ll! I am tough on my beach bags, though, so I’ve been hesitant to actually purchase it. But in my Dream Beach Scenario, this is the bag I see myself carrying. *Sigh* Someday, perfect straw tote, someday.

14. Franco Sarto Espadrille Platform Wedge Sandal

Espadrille Sandal

One shoe I always end up taking on summer vacation is some form of Espadrille wedge. These Franco Sarto Clemens sandals remind me of the Chloe Glyn wedges that I covet every summer, but for less than half the price. Yay!

15. Becca Prima Twist Swimsuit

Becca twist front one piece swimsuit

Swimsuit

Becca’s Prima Twist Swimsuit is really calling to me for a couple of important reasons. I’ve looked at A LOT of cutout one-piece swimsuits and it’s really hard to find one that shows the right amount of skin, you know what I mean? There are so many cute cutout one-pieces that show a lot more skin (which is a totally hot!) but realistically, I like to be active and go for walks at the beach and swims at the pool. So this is swimsuit I could see myself being comfortable in, all day. It manages to be the perfect amount of coverage and style with the tiniest amount of sexiness thrown in. Plus, I’m a big fan of this color.

16. Quince European Linen Scoop Neck Dress

Quince linen midi dress

Scoop Neck Dress

This Quince midi dress immediately stopped me in my tracks. There is SO MUCH I love about it, not to mention the amazing $70 price point. The lines of this silhouette are just *chef’s kiss* perfect. Simple, modern, chic, flattering…ect. And we haven’t even talked about the fabric: 100% European linen and double-lined. Perfection. I will definitely be wearing this dress all summer long.

17. Schutz Enola Woven Sandal

Schutz woven sandals

Woven Sandal

These Schutz sandals have been calling to me for weeks now. I need an updated everyday sandal for this summer since my dog Gus has developed a taste for my sandals lately, and I just keep coming back to these! I love this pair’s elevated detailing: the woven leather and the unique gold hardware buckles.
